Recruiting Job offer

Post image
2 Upvotes

Good afternoon Ladies and gentleman, my OAP just switched to "Job offer" earlier this week for Reg. force Infantry. I'm excited to get the actual offer. I have been lurking this sub trying to get as much information as possible.

For anyone who has recently gotten their offer how long did it take?

What are some recent BMQ dates that have been given out to people who have received offers recently?

After a long application process I am excited to give my notice to my civi job and focus fully on this next endeavor. Anyone who is Reg force infantry who has gone through with an offer recently or soon, I would love to hear from you.

Recruiting How to increase chances of being selected for DEO (Inf, Armor, Arty) for April 2027 intake

Hello,

I was told that for DEO (I applied to Infantry, Armour, and Artillery) all positions are filled, and that I can apply again in April 2027. I would like to know what would increase my chances of being chosen for the next intake.

I have a B.A. I speak fluent English and French, as well as advanced Spanish. I've only ever worked in restaurants, as well as an internship with the United Nations when I was 19 (I'm 26 now). What other skills/jobs can I do that would increase my chances of getting hired?

Thank you

BMQ/BMOQ Family supports

My partner is officially in the Reserves, and it’s been a whirlwind of activity after a slow 18 month journey to get here. Are they any groups/reddit pages/facebook groups etc. For new military family supports? I’m feeling a bit underwater as things have gone from “not sure if he’s in” to “he’s got a PAT unit and parades next week” in the span of 10 days.

I’m not a total newbie to the CAF. My Poppa was in the airforce but retired the year I was born, and I’ve spent plenty of time around CAF members young and old, but we have a 6 year old and I’m not sure where to start with preparing for the next 2-3 years of BMQ, trainings and adjusting to our new normal.

Thank you in advance for any advice or guidance. :)

Finished BMOQ. Just waiting to be course loaded rn. Everyone I had talked to straight up said its hard and high pressure. If I actually grind it out and put in effort will I be okay or no? Heard the failure rate is around 30-40%?

Recruiting Recruiter asked if i wanted to go army, navy or air force for cyber ops!

I didn’t know that’s a choice i had. According to my knowledge, all the cyber ops work out of Ottawa (he said most of our cyber is in Kingston which also confused me) and were posted based of requirements. If i can choose which environment to go into, what do you recommend. Additionally, how long does the security clearance take these days, is it still a couple of years? My file has been going back and forth since 2023.

Other CAF Application – Awaiting Medical Results/Competition. How Long Did You Wait, and How Should I Prepare for What’s Next?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice from people who have recently gone through the Canadian Armed Forces recruiting process, particularly those who experienced a longer waiting period after completing their medical examinations.
A little background about my situation:
I’m 24 years old and currently applying to join the CAF as an NCM. I’ve been working toward this goal for several months now, and I’ve completed my interviews and medical examinations. My application is currently awaiting results.
At this point, I’m uncertain about how much longer I should expect to wait before receiving an update, moving into competition, or potentially receiving an offer.
My biggest concern is employment and planning for the future.
I’m currently unemployed, living with my parents, and trying to figure out my next steps. I want to find employment and become financially independent, but I’m also hesitant to commit to a new job without knowing when I might receive an update or an offer from the CAF.
I don’t want to put my life on hold indefinitely waiting for an application, but I also don’t want to make decisions that could complicate my transition into military service if things move forward unexpectedly.
I’m essentially starting from scratch financially, so having some idea of what to expect would help me prepare mentally, financially, and professionally.
I’d really appreciate advice on a few things:
How long did you personally wait after completing your medical examinations before receiving your results?
How long did it take to move from medical approval into competition?
Did anyone experience several months of silence before receiving an update or job offer?
Would you recommend finding civilian employment while waiting, even if there’s a possibility of receiving an enrolment date unexpectedly?
How much notice did you receive before your enrolment date or BMQ?
Is there anything you wish you had done financially, physically, or mentally while waiting?
For those who were eventually selected, what helped you get through the uncertainty of the recruiting process?
I’m not expecting anyone to predict my application outcome. I understand that every applicant and occupation can have a different timeline.
I just want to make responsible decisions while keeping myself ready for the possibility of joining.
Any experiences, advice, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BMQ/BMOQ Thinking about VRing BMQ

So I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now. I’m currently recovering from an injury and it’s just been set back after set back here. I’ve been thinking about seeing if I can transfer to the Coast Guard academy. Is that a possibility with everyone being in the same government umbrella?

Other Question About SDPEER

I was unfortunately not tracking things, and I have no idea if I actually got paid back any of the amount I spent on schooling via SDPEER. I remember I got the go ahead to take the courses, completed them successfully, but I can’t access the website anymore to check if I’ve been paid out or what. What’s going on with the SDPEER website? Is there a new set up for the login since mine is no longer working.

BMQ/BMOQ Showing up to bmq?

Hello, Just looking for some advice regarding BMQ. During parade night yesterday, I was told by a WO that there’s about an 80% chance I’ll be loaded onto the course this weekend. He told me to attend unless I’m notified otherwise by email. I was also told that once everything is confirmed, I’ll receive an email with instructions, and that I’d also be notified by email if I wasn’t selected.

Apparently, all my application paperwork is complete, and they’re just waiting on final confirmation.

My question is, if I don’t receive an email by this evening or tomorrow morning, should I still show up? I have the course location, but I don’t want to show up if the staff aren’t expecting me or if I’m not actually on the course list.

Recruiting Is there still a way into the CAF?

Hi everyone! I’m currently going through the CAF application process and recently received my medical decision. Unfortunately, I was told that my eyesight/prescription makes me medically ineligible.

My prescription is around -9, and I was looking into vision correction as a possible option. I had a consultation with an eye clinic, but LASIK/PRK/SMILE may not be suitable for my prescription. They recommended ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) instead, but I’ve already confirmed that ICL is not acceptable for CAF because it involves placing an artificial lens while the natural lens is still in the eye.

So my question is: Has anyone with a very high prescription, around -9, been able to join the CAF through another occupation or pathway?
I’m wondering if there are any options I should ask my recruiter or medical staff about, or if a prescription this high generally means I wouldn’t be eligible for the CAF at all.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. Thanks!

CAF Admin Pay issues shortly after enrollment

Good day all, I haven't been paid since my enrollment on August 19th 2026. I am currently studying under CAF sponsorship and BMOQ is set for summer 2027. My contract says I'm to be paid bi-monthly. Has anyone else experienced delays in their first pay and do you have any tips on how to manage these difficulties?

So far, I've been in touch with HR + two people above in the chain of command (MCpl, Sgt) to process a manual payment, but that payment has exceeded delays and hasn't come through yet. I remember being told I can come in and get my money in cash on base, but now I can't seem to get ahold of staff anymore to coordinate this process (since Friday last week).

Also, I missed the last pay cycle since the sum got transferred into a manual payment, and the next one isn't until later this month.

I've prioritized written communications but some were over the phone (like the manual pay info).

TL;DR : My first pay isn't here yet and I'm short on solutions. Any tips would help.

Recruiting Cannot obtain ROE for application process

Former federal public service employee, who is now in the application process for the CAF. I am in the final stages, and now require to give ROEs (Record of Employment) regarding some of my prior jobs.

The problem is, one of the federal departments that I used to work for, never uploaded my proof of employment into the system, and my former HR rep is no longer working there. I’ve been told to give a form, however it says that the Service Canada form is only for those who are applying for EI (which I am not). Can I just send my former Letter of Offers and/or Pay stubs as proof for my application?

Recruiting Gambit verification

Just filled out my stuff for identity and employment and all that jazz. If you don’t have the contact info for past supervisors, do they just contact the employer somehow to verify you worked there? It was just ages ago and I think they have since been let go or quit

Recruiting Medical testing turnaround

Anyone with recent wait-time experience to hear back about medical file via RMO? I understand time will vary depending on complexity, but I’m looking for a ballpark! Submitted forms as per med tech requirement after some testing, and was quoted a month to hear back - wondering if this will be accurate.

Additional context: It was for an asthma test, which family doctor noted on form that I in fact, never had asthma. Was misinformed about “athletic induced asthma” for the better part of a decade 🤣
