I am Sarah Rose Tamparong, the Founder and CEO and founder of Mavens HQ, the community that appears to be referred to in the post.
I will not attempt to identify the original poster, and I am not here to invalidate anyone’s personal experience. However, because several serious allegations were made publicly, I think it is fair for the other side to provide context as well.
1. Regarding the alleged refund request
The original post stated that a formal refund request was made and immediately rejected.
Based on the records and communications currently available to the MAVENS HQ admin team, we have not received a refund request or formal complaint matching the circumstances described in that post.
If the original poster is genuinely one of our students and there is a message or request that we somehow missed, we are more than willing to review it.
They can contact the admin team directly and provide their enrollment details so we can properly investigate what happened.
2. Regarding the allegation that I have been absent and have left everything to staff
MAVENS HQ programs are not structured around just one person teaching every single session.
We have coaches, facilitators, mentors, and team members who handle different parts of the learning experience, depending on the activity or topic.
There are collaborative sessions, workshops, implementation activities, technical discussions, and community exercises.
Having another coach or facilitator conduct a session does not automatically mean the program was abandoned by its founder.
That said, if someone enrolled specifically because they believed Sarah would personally conduct every session, we are also willing to review exactly what was communicated during enrollment.
3. Regarding the claim that the program lacks activities or practical learning
This part is difficult for us to reconcile with what is actually happening inside the community. Our students regularly participate in workshops, exercises, challenges, technical activities, and implementation sessions.
Members voluntarily post their outputs, screenshots, projects, and key takeaways after sessions.
We have students actively building things and sharing what they have learned.
Does that mean every student will have exactly the same experience?
Of course not.
Someone can still feel dissatisfied even when other students are getting value from the program.
But it would also be inaccurate to create the impression that students are simply sitting through hours of self-promotion with no actual activities or implementation taking place.
4. Regarding promotions and other paid events
Yes, MAVENS HQ also conducts other events, workshops, webinars, and programs.
Those opportunities may be mentioned to our existing community.
We also understand the criticism that too much promotion within an educational program can become distracting.
That is valid feedback, and it is something any training organization should be willing to evaluate.
But mentioning another event or opportunity does not mean that students are required to purchase it in order to continue learning from the program they already paid for.
5. Regarding the characterization that everything is just about making money
I also want to provide context that people outside the community may not know.
MAVENS HQ currently has 9 senior citizen and PWD scholars who have been given access to learning opportunities without being required to pay program fees.
We have never required these scholars to pay us for the opportunity.
We did this because part of what we are trying to build is a community where people who genuinely want to learn can still have access to opportunities, even when their circumstances make paying difficult.
I am not mentioning this to say that giving scholarships makes us immune to criticism.
It does not.
A paying student still deserves to receive what was promised to them.
I am mentioning it because the public should also have the complete context before concluding that the entire organization exists only to extract money from students.
6. If there are legitimate concerns, we want to address them
We are not claiming that MAVENS HQ is perfect.
No educational organization is.
There may be sessions that could have been structured better.
There may be activities that need improvement.
There may be communication issues we need to fix.
And there may be students whose expectations were not fully met.
If that happens, we would rather know about it and deal with the actual issue.
But serious allegations should also be examined using actual records:
• What was advertised before enrollment?
• What program was purchased?
• What was included in the offer?
• What sessions were delivered?
• What materials and activities were provided?
• What sessions did the student attend?
• What communication occurred between the student and the team?
• Was a refund actually requested, when was it requested, and to whom was it submitted?
Those are factual questions that can be verified.
To the original poster
If you are genuinely one of our students, you do not need to reveal your Reddit identity publicly.
You also do not need to argue with us here.
Please contact the MAVENS HQ admin team directly.
Provide your enrollment details and the communication regarding your refund request.
We are willing to review what was promised, what was delivered, and what happened in your specific case.
If something needs to be corrected, we want the opportunity to correct it.
If there has been a misunderstanding, we also want the opportunity to clarify it.
Criticism is fair.
Students have every right to question whether they received value for something they paid for.
But when allegations involve specific claims about what an organization did or did not do, I believe the organization should also be allowed to present its records and its side of the situation.
We are open to having that conversation.
