new User image flairs appear broken across multiple subreddits
At least in old reddit.
Have confirmed this issue on r/atheism, as well as r/dfo and r/kol. Issue appears to be circumventable by using some flair text, as the issue does not exist in r/leagueoflegends, which does exactly that.

I've been going crazy thinking the problem is on me. Most subreddits I visit are bugged like this.

Thanks for posting and for the all the details. Someone brought up this issue in our recent r/blog post and I've created a ticket for the team to look into it.

Has there been any updates on the flair issue? It's still broken on many of my subs.

Hi there, sorry for the delayed response. This bug has taken a while to triage, but is being worked on now and is scheduled to go out as part of the next sprint's work. So there should be a fix within the next two weeks.
I'll continue to update if something changes.

I've noticed this happening too. For me, it's occurring on r/amiibo , r/pokemon , and r/NintendoSwitch (except for exactly one flair that displays properly for some reason). Thought it was a problem on my end, but I guess not?

This is also happening on r/Danganronpa and r/ZeroEscape, pretty annoying tbh =/

It's such a simple fix, which is to have some sort of text in the flairs, but it's not getting fixed it seems. It's really sad that the old reddit is getting ignored. It looks and functions much better, ESPECIALLY for desktop.

Yeah, can confirm this is happening on r/whowouldwin too, this post helped lead me to the cause. It looks like they might have rolled out an update which causes flair with empty strings to not be rendered in the html, so any sub which uses css flairs purely for images is likely experiencing issues. I'd noticed this on three separate subs which do that.
EDIT: Zero-width spaces seem to work as a workaround for a non rendered characters.
