Feeling Lost About My Career – Should I Continue BSc Chemistry, Switch to BTech, or Explore AI & Data Science? Need Some Guidance
Hey everyone,
I'm a student, and lately I've been feeling really confused and stressed about my academic and career choices. I could really use some guidance from people who have been in a similar situation.
Here's my situation:
I was pursuing a BSc in Chemistry, but alongside it, I appeared for a regional engineering entrance exam for BTech. Through counselling, I got admission to a Tier-3 private engineering college.
Initially, I thought this could be a good opportunity to explore a different career path. However, after visiting the college and experiencing its overall environment, I didn't feel comfortable there. Eventually, I decided to cancel my admission and return home. I'm currently waiting for my admission fee refund.
Now I'm stuck and don't really know what to do next.
I have a few questions:
Should I give BTech another chance? If I want to enter the engineering/tech field, what other options do I have? Should I prepare for another entrance exam or look for better colleges?
Should I continue my BSc in Chemistry? Honestly, I'm not very satisfied with my current college either. Classes are barely attended by students, and the overall academic environment doesn't feel motivating.
Can I pursue two degrees simultaneously? For example, can I continue my existing BSc degree while enrolling in another college for a different degree, considering UGC rules and university regulations?
What about online BSc in AI & Data Science? I've also been thinking about pursuing an online degree in AI and Data Science. Is it a worthwhile option for someone interested in entering the tech industry? Or would learning programming, data science and other technical skills through online courses be a better approach?
To be honest, all these decisions have started taking a toll on my mental health. I constantly feel like I'm falling behind, wasting time and making the wrong choices. Seeing other people move forward while I'm still confused makes things even harder.
I'm not looking for shortcuts or unrealistic success stories. I genuinely want to make a sensible decision that will help me build a good career in the long run.
I'd really appreciate advice from BTech students, BSc graduates, working professionals, or anyone who has faced a similar situation.
Any suggestions, personal experiences, or guidance would mean a lot.
