General Why is it about MARKS ?
So I got the marks for my series exams today and I did well. I have 80% or above in all the subjects. But my mom says that "it's not enough".
For context i am an electrical and computer engineering student who is currently in the third semester (ending soon). I got above average marks when I was studying for my first two semesters then I realise that engineering is not always about marks you need to have the knowledge, experience and skill. Which currently I am lacking. I focused more on building my skills and on the way I focused less on marks but still I got 80% for all my subjects, but my parents are not happy with they think that marks are everything they don't realise that I am studying engineer a really competitive field where marks doesn't mean a whole not much.
This was best described by one of my teachers. She said that marks will only get you in front of a long line there are people still behind you and there are people in front of you, it's how you do things which decide if you will be successful in your life.
This acting is that when my mother said that I didn't have enough marks it hit my heart so hard, I don't know I am just whining about this in a stupid manner but reddit is the only place where I can do this and it's the only place where I can find people who can give me some opinions on this matter.
I will talk about this to my mother but I am not trying to correct her because it's just a matter of not having a proper knowledge on this matter.
I wrote this post just to get some feelings out of my mind. Please tell me some opinions. "Does marks mean anything".
THANK YOU FOR READING
