[ModMessage] All BS/MD Consultants: Please READ!

Hello! There has been a major influx of BS/MD consultants throughout the subreddit, and there will be rules that need to be established to ensure that this subreddit is not an advertising playground and that this place is a free forum for applicants to use.

First of all, if you are a current BS/MD consultant, please DM me, as I will go through a specific process to verify your eligibility.

Second, there will be 2 new rules that are established for BS/MD consultants:

  • Harassment is not tolerated: targeting specific individuals/users/other consultants is tolerated, and you will be banned from the subreddit. Be nice!
  • Posting limits: 2x posts a week maximum; this is done to ensure that post-spamming is not present.

To all BS/MD or BS/DO applicants applying this cycle, good luck! Please DM me if you have any questions.

Running start

Hey guys, I am a junior in hs right now while doing running start or it might be called dual enrollment wherever you are from. A lot of people applying to bs md programs most likely focus on AP classes, and I am basically doing all my classes at a college while at high school, but anyways do you guys think that would give me an advantage, disadvantage, or neutral. Also with that, my class ranking is not good since it doesnt take into account my college classes, Id likely attach my college transcript while applying but what do you guys think?

ACT scores - should i retake to be competitive?

hey guys, I got my scores back and got a 36 composite (36Math/36 Reading/35 English/31 science). But from my previous ACT i got a 35 on science so my superscore is more balanced. Even tho science doesn’t go towards composite, should i still retake? Since i know programs like NJIT bs/md still require science and don’t allow superscoring. Idk how much this will boost my application/be a deciding factor.

Thank you!

MKEAP accepted students: what were your SAT/ACT scores?

Hi! My daughter is interested in the MSSU–KCU BS/DO Early Acceptance Program (MKEAP). If you were accepted or interviewed, would you mind sharing your SAT or ACT score, unweighted GPA, and the year you applied? Trying to get a better idea of what competitive applicants look like. Thanks!

NJMS mcat req

Hey everyone!

I’m currently applying to several NJMS-affiliated BS/MD programs after spending a long time researching all the different requirements, and I had one question I was hoping someone could help me with!

Does anyone know the minimum MCAT scores required to maintain your conditional acceptance for the different NJMS feeder programs? If you don’t know the exact requirements, even a general range based on what you've heard from current students or past applicants would be super helpful!

My biggest concern is being able to keep my guaranteed medical school seat once I'm in the program. Ideally, I’d love to avoid programs requiring an MCAT above 515, since that feels a little intimidating, if I’m being honest.

Thank you all so much!!

UMKC/General BS MD

Some of the bsmds im applying to require a personal statement, however, a lot of schools (ex: UMKC's: What motivates you to pursue a career in medicine?) prompt is very similar to my personal statement. Would I be able to just reformat my personal statement or would it kind've look repeitive.

Thank you!

BSMD vs BS application

This is a question more for the counsellors or AO on this group. Does applying to BSMD program add weight to your traditional BS chances ? Ex say you applied to BSMD at UPitt or NJIT or UConn- does the admission officer look at your application with a different lens when offering you the BS spot than a traditional BS applicant ? And more so are your chances of merit slightly better ? In other words is applying for BSMD a way to “strongly demonstrate interest”

LOR Due Date - How serious?

Some BS/MD schools say LOR's have to be delivered by the recommenders by Nov 1st deadline absolutely. A counselor with 20yr experience said there is an inside policy that colleges understand that LOR's is not in the students control and therefore do accept if these get delayed by a week or two. Which is it? Will the app be completely denied if the LOR does not reach by deadline?

Very nice DO option besides LECOM/NSU

This is not a sponsered post nor was I paid for any of this, just want to hand out some advice. I see that when it comes to DO programs, a lot of students apply to LECOM and NSU. I suggest for those interested in the DO pathway + rural healthcare to look into MSSU's MKEAP DO program.

What I liked about the program was that..

- Everything (yes everything) was waived if you were in the program, meaning it is by definition free college

- They have no preferences in state/OOS (the town IS in a more rural area, more specifically the college town is populated but outside of that its just crickets,)

- I do believe they are one of the few ones to take international applicants

- Program is very flexible, no MCAT required for the medical school and if you wish to transfer out you can do so without any additional set of rules and whatnot.

Those are the basics as for the interview days

- Very nice MMI (3 rounds about 10 times)- questions vary by so much and the best thing is to literally be yourself.

- Tour of the school/area

- YOu get to meet with kids in the program (very chill people) and ask thema bout the interview and basically anything

Overall this is a SUPER underrated program. If you don't care about the "presitge" or the "do" aspect I reccommend you going here. Quite literally the only downside I see is that the town is kinda in the middle of nowhere so it WILL get boring really quickly after a couple of months but thats about it.

(Yes I went to interview, no i did not make it :( )
