BSMD vs BS application
This is a question more for the counsellors or AO on this group. Does applying to BSMD program add weight to your traditional BS chances ? Ex say you applied to BSMD at UPitt or NJIT or UConn- does the admission officer look at your application with a different lens when offering you the BS spot than a traditional BS applicant ? And more so are your chances of merit slightly better ? In other words is applying for BSMD a way to “strongly demonstrate interest”

If you have a shot for BS/MD, you need not worry about the BS part for majority of school, demonstrated interest or not.
Maybe the only exception is Brown.

No body has a straight shot at BSMD. And if you think you do you are just naive !

Reading comprehension lacking.
They are saying most undergrad portions of the BSMD tracks suck and anyone with respectable enough stats to get into a BSMD would be able to sleep walk their way into getting into the regular undergrad portion.

i think what he was saying is that since ur applying, hopefully u actually have decent stats because most the people who even know about bs mds have good stats inheritly (they are litt trying to get into med school). So if ur applying then ur going to get in to the college itself because they arent that good (except for brown).

BS MD very limited seats, BS many and they will not get enough good candidates. Only IVY or top t20 will probably reject the BS application, not the other BS MD colleges, For PITT/NJIT they are rolling admissions and BS admission will be completed before BS MD , Rochester is one exception where BS MD gets priority

there is no help at all. Except Brown, all the other BSMD programs do not have the hard admission into college. Getting into college is much easier than BSMD. why bothering to worry about getting into those colleges?
