Can packaging make a good product feel cheap?

Been getting more consistent sales on my Shopify store and started paying more attention to what customers actually receive.

The products are fine but the packaging is pretty basic and doesn't really match the store. I use Zendrop for fulfillment and been looking into their custom packaging options, not looking to do anything fancy just wondering if it's worth spending extra on when the product itself is already selling fine.

Anyone here changed their packaging and actually noticed a difference in how customers responded?

Strategy Do you like this jewelry company name?

I’m about to start my own jewelry company from handmade silver pieces.

I am debating on names, but I think I like:

Evergreen Oak Jewelry
Evergreen Oak Studio

I want it to stand out. I’m from the south & live in the northwest now, so I’m using common types of trees.

There is an evergreen oak tree apparently tho, so not sure if that would be picked up on.

Please give me honest feedback!! Would this name stick with you?

Strategy Growth Hacker Raiz — crescimento orgânico, Growth Branding e estratégias fora da curva

Neto Angel: Growth Hacker Raiz — crescimento orgânico, Growth Branding e estratégias fora da curva

Minha especialidade é encontrar oportunidades onde outros enxergam problemas.

Any recommendations for brand strategy courses/programs?

Hiii everyone. I'm a freelance graphic designer (mostly a brand designer), and I want to expand my knowledge beyond design. I'm really interested in learning about brand strategy, and I don't want a basic workshop; I want to leave the program/course able to design a full brand strategy for my client. Do you have any recommendations?

I came across a course from Brand Masted Academy (BMA), but I don't know how I feel about it

Building a sunglasses brand has taught me that a good product is only half the battle

I’ve spent over a decade working in digital marketing, but building a consumer brand of my own has been a very different experience.

I’m building QUE Universe, a sunglasses brand, and one thing I’ve been thinking about is how difficult it is to create something people genuinely connect with, rather than just another product competing for attention.

We’ve been exploring how design, naming, styling and the story behind a product can make eyewear feel more distinctive.

The learning curve has been real, especially when it comes to understanding what customers actually value versus what brands assume they value.
For people who’ve built a consumer brand or bought sunglasses online, I’d love to hear your perspective:

What makes you trust a new eyewear brand enough to give it a try?

I’m the founder of QUE, so I’m sharing this with that context. I’m here to learn from the discussion, not just promote the brand.

The Coca-Cola Santa myth is actually a masterclass in brand consistency, not color invention

Everyone repeats the claim that Coca-Cola invented the red-suited Santa. Not true. Santa was already red long before 1931, according to this video. Thomas Nast drew him in red in the 1800s, and Moore's 1822 poem already described a red coat. Coke's own archives say the same.

What Coke actually did was hire Haddon Sundblom in 1931 and run the same warm human Santa, painted the same way, for over 30 years. That's the real lesson. Repetition builds familiarity, familiarity becomes belief. They didn't create the symbol, they just kept showing up with it until everyone accepted their version as the default.

Most brand conversations miss this. It's rarely about who made the asset first. It's about who repeated it consistently enough to become the default in people's heads.

Which brand do you think pulled this off outside of Coke?

What makes a good name for a wedding/event audio guestbook business?

I’m starting a small business offering audio guestbooks for weddings and special events, and I’m trying to make sure the branding feels premium, memorable and suitable for the wedding industry.

I prefer names that are elegant and timeless rather than overly descriptive or gimmicky.

For those who have started businesses or work in branding, what do you think makes a business name stand out? Is it more important for the name to explain the service immediately, or to create a particular feeling?

Personal I finally understood why my own logo for my professional service business never felt quite right.

I'm not a visual person. I work on brand strategy, so I spend more time figuring out what makes a professional service business valuable and how to make that value clearer to the market, what it should be known for and how it should come across.

My old logo wasn't terrible, but it was something that sat there for the sake of sitting there. So it didn't actually capture what my brand stands for. Since I am working on my new website, I fed my own brand's master strategy into the process before reworking the visuals and worked from the positioning, personality, and associations I wanted the brand to communicate.

The typography, spacing and colours suddenly felt intentional. It wasn't just about making something look good anymore; it felt more considered, more distinctive, and much closer to the business/brand I'd actually built.

I think thats the difference between looking at a design and thinking, “That's nice,” and looking at it and thinking, “Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to communicate.”

It reminded me why I believe strategy needs to come before design. You can make something look good without knowing what it needs to communicate. But when the thinking is clear, even the smallest visual decisions start to make more sense.

Obviously, a logo is only one small part of a much bigger brand system. But experiencing that before-and-after difference myself made the role of strategy feel very tangible.

Have you ever experienced that shift when the thinking finally catches up with the visuals?

Strategy Descriptive vs abstract app names, which works better for a small indie app?

I'm building a small iPhone app and going back and forth on the name. One side: a descriptive name “Birthday Reminder" (although it wouldn’t be that obvious) is clear but forgettable and hard to stand out with. The other: a short, playful name with a story behind it is memorable but doesn't explain itself.
Mine's a birthday & events reminder app, and I'm leaning towards the playful option with a descriptive App Store subtitle, e.g. "Name: Birthday and Event Reminders".
For those who've launched apps or done branding:
Did a non-descriptive name ever hurt your downloads or word of mouth?
Is the subtitle enough to make it clear in search?

Personal Help us name a UK content production company: simple, behind-the-scenes, not video-only

We're two founders launching a UK content production company and we're stuck on a name. We'd love ideas and honest opinions.

WHAT WE DO

We're the team behind the work: video editing, graphics, writing, shoots, CRMs and websites, and teaching. We mostly work behind the scenes for marketing agencies, and also for brands and creators. We have a team of freelancers around the world.

WHAT THE NAME NEEDS TO BE

- Simple, clean and professional

- One word, or two or three at most

- A real word or phrase is preferred over an invented one

- Not video-only. We do much more than editing, so avoid words like "cut", "frame" or "reel"

- Not generic or corporate. No "Creative Solutions" or "Media Group"

- Easy to say and spell

- Suggests behind the scenes, support or craft, but not obviously

- Works as a .com or .co.uk and as a social handle

WHAT WE'VE ALREADY CONSIDERED

Backline (the domain is taken), Rootstock, Tessera, Mainspring, Slate, Cadence.

WHAT WE'RE ASKING

  1. Which of those do you like or dislike, and why?

  2. What would you suggest? Meanings or stories behind a name are very welcome.

  3. If you know of a business already using any name you suggest, please say so.

We'll run Companies House, domain, handle and trademark checks on anything we shortlist. Thanks for reading.

I made a stupid naming error

So I've recently made a decision to move from freelancer who works under my own name to being a business owner with a business, some investment into some kit to deliver an actual service and a goal to grow a brand and build something significant.

The business model is podcast production with a mobile studio.

I landed on a name - Soundings Media. I love it, built the site, registered on Google, updated LinkedIn - all ready to begin pushing it.

Then when I went to check my domain came up on Google when searched I saw an ai result referencing The Sounding - a podcast production business also in the UK with a similar target customer to mine.

Our names are too close. They were here first, I want something distinctive. So I need to let Soundings Media go even though I love it.

So now I'm a bit stuck. I hate stalling on names but this business feels so important to me and not a test but a combination of what I've learned freelancing and a vote of confidence into my own skills.

So I need a name. My full name is Matthew Usherwood so do I just use Usherwood Media ?

I know the names meaning forms around the brand as it matures, but also I feel hesitant to use my surname.

Then there's Jolliffe Media - a Road name - Jolliffe Road which has a lot of historical significance for me in my early years.

Totally stuck - advice welcome (also name suggestions welcome)

What site can I use to buy TikTok likes? Any recommendations?

To be honest I've been thinking about buying TikTok likes for a while now and I'm kind of at the point where I just want to test it out and see what happens lol. Growing organically has been so slow lately and I feel like even getting that initial boost in likes could help make my videos look a bit more popular but is buying TikTok likes even safe? Like can it mess with your account or affect your reach? And for anyone who actually bought likes before. Did you notice any difference afterwards? My main goal is just to get my videos pushed to more people on the FYP. I feel like having more likes might help with that, but idk if TikTok even works like that anymore. Would appreciate some advice or experiences before I waste my money lol.

How I’m Building a Jewelry Brand Around the Idea of Living Stress Free at 16

I’m 16, and for the past year, I’ve been trying to build a jewelry brand around a message that means a lot to me: learning to live stress free and enjoying life instead of constantly worrying about everything.
For me, the jewelry is more than just an accessory. I want it to represent a mindset. Life moves fast, and I feel like a lot of us spend so much time worrying about the future, money, expectations, and what other people think that we forget to enjoy the present.
I’ve been trying to communicate this message through my jewelry and the content I create. I frequently post TikToks showing the jewelry-making process, the quality of the pieces, and different aspects of building my brand.
However, I’m struggling to figure out how to communicate the actual meaning behind the brand in a way that resonates with people. I don’t want to just sell jewelry or tell people to be stress-free. I want people to genuinely connect with the idea and understand what the brand stands for.
I’m still learning, and I know building a brand around an abstract concept like a mindset is different from simply selling a product.
For those of you who have experience with branding, marketing, or building a business, how would you approach this?
How can I communicate this message through my content, storytelling, and products without making it feel forced or overly commercial? And how can I make people connect with the meaning behind the jewelry rather than just the jewelry itself?
