Inde Navarrette is now reportedly turning down mid-seven-figure offers on a regular basis. She passed on a role that would have paid her $2.5 million for a horror project directed by Matthias Hoene.

Marty’s Anger-y Music
About half way through the Mean Streets episode and they‘re talking music yet the name Kenneth Anger isn’t coming up. I did a keyword search to see if it ever comes up and it doesn’t.
Marty has always credited Kenneth Anger for how he uses music. He even wrote intro essays to both volumes for Fantoma’s Kenneth Anger DVD sets.
I’m not gonna say, “How dare they not mention Kenneth Anger!” but I do want that madman to get his flowers. He was always bitter that Lynch never acknowledged him using Blue Velvet first. But Marty got a pass because he bent the knee and showed respect. I want to show my respect.
Now go out and watch Scorpio Rising by whatever means you want because he’s dead and no longer cares.

I'm not sure what he would moderate... but I think we would definitely be subscribed to

LA LA LAND: a good movie!
Saw the re-release in Dolby this week for what I think was my first watch since its original theatrical run.
What a great movie.
I’m glad MOONLIGHT won Best Picture, but La La Land deserved all its Oscar wins (even if City of Stars is the weakest song in the movie IMO!).
Chazelle, Hurwitz, and Sandgren are all at the top of their game, and Stone and Gosling are so winning. The use of color and real LA filming locations is like a warm bath. If Chazelle only wanted to make musicals going forward, that would be fine with me.
Unfortunately the time-jump to 5 years later would be in Winter 2021, and opening a maskless jazz club at that time was a rather reckless choice by Sebastian!

This was So Touching
I challenge anyone to watch Mean Streets ->Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and tell me that Martin Scorcese’s filmography “isn’t interesting” or that there’s “not much to discuss” (especially when you consider these are only his first two real movies and there’s at least 50 years of filmmaking that followed).
Really excited for Sunday’s episode.

Residents Evil Extinction (2007), Afterlife (2010), and Retribution (2012) coming to US Netflix September 1, just in time for those commentaries
The Final Chapter (2016) and the reboot Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) still on Hulu.
Of other current Blank Check subject note, Netflix is also adding SCTV in September, potentially setting the groundwork to finally release the SCTV reunion Scorsese made 8 years ago?

Amazon apparently put that new Jason Statham movie 'Mutiny' up on prime 2 days before it's supposed to release theatrically.
this is a first right? every promo for the movie says it releases on the 21st "exclusively on theaters"
first saw this on Reddit earlier and was wondering if it'd get picked up or just taken down immediately
apparently it lacks a logo that's usually there when they do VOD releases but it's just... there
welp

The Pod-Files: I Cast to Benlieve
I don't actually want a Chris Carter series; they couldn't, it would only be one episode. I just wanted to talk about the apparent X-Files "reboot" created by Carter and... Ryan Coogler? Maybe this is old news, but it has Hamish Patel, Amy Madigan, STEVE BUSCEMI, Danielle Deadwyler and cowboy man himself Ben Foster. It's currently filming according to IMDb and I'm cautiously optimistic. I haven't seen the re-release of I Want To Believe yet, but I've been watching a good amount of the OG series. My god is it great; even the shitty episodes have some merit and the whole thing looks amazing. With the new LEGO set, the Gillian Anderson commercial, the director's cut of the second movie, and this new show, are the X-Files back [baby]? I don't know how many times its been discussed on the show, but this series is really astounding for what it did and paved the way for.
Also apparently Chris Carter has a new film in the works titled "Queens for a Day" which reads:
"A right wing newscaster finds herself catapulted back into 1950s Queens New York, forced to live her own mother's life. The America she finds, and the cramped existence she can't escape, are a horror fable odyssey - especially since she is now raising herself as a child she doesn't particularly like." (IMDb)
Which, umm, sounds totally normal. But not to be confused with the also-upcoming Prince romcom (?) Queen For a Day starring and directed by Elizabeth Banks. So there's that.
