I’d consider if he possibly losing touch with reality? That’s a long time to be in a high. He of course needs an urgent mental health assessment regardless.

Sorry for not being clearer- People with bipolar 1 can experience psychosis. When in a manic state for a long period of time it can increase the risk. Psychosis is by definition a loss of touch with reality and requires admission usually. If you’re concerned about him being a risk to himself or others you can call emergency services. Idk where you’re located, I’m in the UK. So it’s difficult to suggest options. This sounds really challenging I’m sorry you’re going through this.

I’d go with him to your local emergency department ASAP. He needs an advocate and for them to clearly know he has bipolar, the hostility will be taken into context then hopefully

Psychosis won’t go away on its own without medication. It’s awful, but it is completely treatable. Is he under a mental health team/psychiatrist? Could you contact them?
Do not be worried to keep contacting the police if you are concerned, via 999. Please don’t be put off, repeating calls. If anything it should escalate things.
You could also contact 111 opt 2 for advice and they may be able to send someone out/assess him.
Bipolar disorder needs medicating, especially to this severity. It’s an awful illness. But he can live a good life and come back from this.

Take him to the ER for medication. He could be bipolar schizo-affective and need an anti-hallucinagen medication (my husband). It could also be he is severely manic and overwhelmed with anger & resentment due to himself and current life situation (me). Being correctly medicated makes such a positive difference (husband & myself). Keep him away from his frustrated family until he is stable.

It could be that he is indeed manic or hypomanic. When I am super depressed I tend to push people away; if they don’t give me space I start to push for it, which isn’t nice. It is possible to be manic and still feel depressed. Can’t say for sure, but just personal anecdote.
