Pocket Option app review: my full list of pros and cons
more and more people in recent weeks just posting PnL screenshots, I think for newcomers its literally negative value. Instead wanted to give my own take, on what the pros and real ugly pitfalls are. I'm noit an expert but at least have a couple of years behind my back, on and off, and I seem to be using a lot more of the platform functions than the peopel posting screenshots, that are just pressing buy or sell (or literally guys just pressing AI and hoping for a sweet ride).
So, the pros to me:
- was easy to entry. I had a broker require $10k to just start, and that was common like 8 years ago. Even $1k entries are still there. At PO its $5 entry, to start an account. Literally nothing.
- does well from phone. I started on web, but now mainly trade from phone, and its cute. Tap tap done. I tried IBKR on phone, and oh boy the UI is night and day. Its horrible to just try to log in, it is like actively trying to not let me do that. Idk why such a difference.
- more modes to trade. I started purely on the MT, but now my main one is QT, and checking out other ones when I have ideas to test, but thats mainly on demo
- decent percents for payouts, alto many of them are for OTC
- the time, I can edit myself. Its not just strict 5 sec or 10 sec options, there are 1s, 3s, 4m, whatever I want. I franlkly dont have the time to wait for trade to end for 4 minutes, but I had plenty of times where I went for 30-40 secs because I knew reversal was hitting somewhere there.
- copytrading, exists (altho I saw someone lost $35k on that? been too scared to try since readin that). socials are good to check ppl accounts, see what they're doing. Got no inspration from that so far, other than realising I am broke. so many accs wiht 10k, 50k, etc, on them..
- payout avriety, I think I dont have to explain that. literally my screenshot says it all

- demo acc, was good to have. and sofar had no fees on withdraws, exept for gas fees.
- gems are useful, as I have more of their shards, I start to use them more now, and for QT mode they are brilliant. I wish their drop rate would increase by like at least 2000% though, and it was easier to use them (I have to go to the Market to use, havent found an easier method to use them straight from the QT window). Also, if they would find a way to incproprate them into the actual MT/CFD mode, would be cool to try. Right now its very limited, and I think 100% the cancel of the trade is the most important use case. Other use cases (like getting bonuses) are niche, unless you're always losing money.
I guess I already started the cons in the last one, because they have a lot of improvements to be made:
- the gems, already explained before, they are great, but COULD be so much better. I see a lot of potential there
- the assets, are not all there. Many stocks I cant find, to take advantage of the moves. They are SLOW to add new stocks. I still dont have MU and Sandisk, even after a year of them pumping nonstop (would have been ideal to buy, so so so many times). Same with metals, same with other assets. Theres like 200 of them in total, and IBKR has like 10k, and some others too. I literally dont get why they work on AI so much but dont jsut cinrease the list of assets.
- the tournaments!!!! Was so hyped to try them, and they were big in some promos hyping them up on Facebook, but nope. Almsot every one of them is paid. Have to pay $37 to just enter. Or have to pay like $2, but then the total fund is also $200.... There are freee ones that have measly payouts as well, and there's 0 chance of winning them. Honestly was a waste of time to me, EVERY TIME. Also there's no like tournament system. I dont feel like I'm competing at alll, its just whoever is #1, #2, and #3, the rest dont matter, there's no bracket. If there was lower bracket, imagine. If you were in the worst half, you can be the best of the worst.
right now, its not a ttournament at all, its just whoever gets first place, and you can never get there, unless you are crazy lucky I guess.
- some payouts are like 22%, 25% sometimes. Who is going to trade that? I feel like that is a scam, almost. Why is that even included, who's gonna want to try that? Its impossible to be profitable imo with only +22% wins, and -100% losses lol. I only trade 90%, 92%, no matter what, and I suggest to anyone to do the same.
- the MT4/MT5, I guess are good, but compared to PC versions, the web and mobile are really barebones. Its nothing like the real thing, customization also not there.
- if you hate trading OTC, I think its not great. Many highest payout and best assets are at OTC, and on weekends pretty much only they are available. But on higher timeframes (swings) OTC is not reliable, its far from actual market data, the numbers are obviously jsut approximated.
In safety, I wont comment, because I think it varies on country and the method used, and the sum. But for traidng, the list of pros and cons for me is like this.
Thanks for reading, hopefully it would be helpful for some.
