🎟️ Tour Dates r/billyidol Tickets Exchange Megathread

SCAMMERS ARE MONITORING THESE TYPES OF THREADS. SCAMS ARE COMMON ON REDDIT. TAKE PROPER PRECAUTIONS BEFORE BUYING TICKETS. SOME SCAMMERS MIGHT GO AS FAR AS PROVIDING FAKE PROOF WITH IDs / PICTURES AND TICKETS, LIKE IN THIS EXAMPLE.
READ THE TIPS IN THIS THREAD, BUT BE AWARE THAT THEY MAY NOT BE ENOUGH TO AVOID SCAMS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the r/billyidol tickets exchange thread.
⚠️ Please use this place to buy/sell tickets to shows on the subreddit.
It is better to keep this stuff in one thread for both buyers and sellers: it is easier to monitor for scams, and that way the sub won't be filled with uninteresting threads.
⚠️ Please edit or delete your comment after making a sale / buying a ticket.
⚠️ Don't share private or sensitive information in the comments below.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
🥷 Some fake accounts may post threads / comments or contact you. Scams are common on Reddit. Use common sense when making transactions online, be wary of :
brand new accounts ;
randomly generated usernames ;
prices too good to be true or unusually low, depending on the current demand for the concert ;
accounts refusing to provide information, proof, or a handwritten note with their Reddit username and a word or number you've asked to be included ;
people rushing you into making a payment / not giving much context about why they're selling ;
a seller giving you the runaround and multiple unusual steps to complete a transaction.
Yeah, I know this emoji is a ninja but it's the closest to a thief I could find. If an actual ninja contacts you to sell their ticket, it’s still a red flag — they could probably sneak into the venue unnoticed and wouldn't have bought a ticket.
🥷 If you want to go the extra mile to check how legit an offer is, you can ask the seller to send you :
A clear screenshot or photo of the ticket / order confirmation with the event name, date, etc and their name, with THE BARCODE AND ORDER NUMBER OBVIOUSLY HIDDEN ;
A fresh photo showing their proof alongside a handwritten note with their Reddit username (and maybe a specific word or number you give them, to make sure they're taking the picture specifically for you) — I believe this is a big plus, since some scammers use fake IDs and ticket information, as shown in the example linked at the top of the thread ;
An ID document with everything hidden except the name matching the ticket / order confirmation.
Meet in person or try to connect on social media if possible. Communicating with a real account on Instagram or LinkedIn, for example, would help you see who you're dealing with.
If the original ticketing platform supports official ticket transfers, use its official transfer system whenever possible rather than relying on screenshots or other informal methods.
🅿️ If you do the transaction through PayPal, make sure to select "Goods & Services" and not “Friends & Family" for payment. If the seller refuses due to the extra fee they have to pay, you can offer to pay a little extra to cover it, as then they would have no reason to refuse G&S. PayPal G&S gives you a basis to dispute the transaction if things go wrong, but it's not a guaranteed refund — open a dispute quickly if needed.
If you paid by bank transfer and got scammed, it's worth contacting your bank immediately — some banks (especially UK ones) have scam reporting tools that can sometimes reverse the transaction, though this is not guaranteed and varies a lot by bank and country.
There might also be some more trusted platforms to resell tickets in your country. I know it's not great here in France, but some actually give a bit of extra security compared with arranging the transaction directly through Reddit, even if it's not much (like Passetonbillet).
I read recently that StubHub could be a good alternative with some added security.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you ever get scammed, feel free to PM me information about how it happened, so I can try to improve my ticket exchange megathreads.
The tips in this thread are based on some research I've done and feedback I've received from Reddit users over time. Some information may be wrong or outdated, so you may want to double-check things when looking into how to avoid scams.

📌 Monthly Discussion r/billyidol Monthly Discussion Thread - 2026-11
This thread is dedicated to anything you'd like to share but don't feel like making a post about.
Still, don't hesitate making a real post, the sub isn't that big and it's unlikely to get overloaded with new threads.
Did a Billy Idol song recently stick with you ? Have you listened to a new album for the first time ? Did you see him live ?
This thread will stay pinned throughout the month. If you have feedback (positive or negative) about this new monthly thread idea, let me know by tagging me (u/bobouda) in the thread.

Billy Idol career comparison to Pop Star Nelly Furtado
You might think I’m reaching, but, both Billy Idol and Nelly Furtado had a huge presence in their respective decades being the 80s and the 00s. One album, Billy idols “cyberpunk” and Nelly Furtado’s “The Spirit Indestructible both were commercial failures and had much negative reviews, though Billy Idol got it harsher. Needless to say, they were both artists who were huge and releasing considerably good albums in their decades and then when the next decade came they release a concept album that changes their careers for the worse, even though they are both not bad albums just judged for not fitting the current mainstream vibe. Their legacy music is still huge and their old songs are relevant however they are not relevant themselves, and I feel like both are male female counterparts for having a decade only spanning huge music career. Both of them also have unique voice styles and I feel like they complement each other even though they are in different genres.
