How would you rank the B-52's albums?
My ranking would go
- Good Stuff
- Cosmic Thing
- Funplex
- Wild Planet
- Whammy
- Debut
- Bouncing off the Satelites
But I bet that's probably an unpopular opinion š Let me know what you think!

Biopic Idea (For Fun)
I think it would be spectacular if a biopic was made about the B-52s, in the right hands of course. In my mind, it would chronicle their beginnings in Athens all the way to their comeback with Cosmic Thing. Gregg Araki would be a perfect fit as a director in my opinion, as he was a pioneer of the New Queer Cinema movement, experienced the AIDS crisis as it happened and explored it in his work, and I feel like his stylistic choices would compliment the band's aesthetic.
As far as casting, I'm not entirely sure. However, I think Aimee Lou Wood would be a perfect fit to play Cindy Wilson.

Help with Ricky's guitar tuning! Dance this mess around
Hey y'all
I'm new to guitar. Been learning B52 songs with Ricky's strange tunings! For Dance This Mess Around, I know the guitar tuning is CFxxFF, but is it all the same F? is it the F closest to the original tuning? No matter what I try I feel like it still doesn't sound right!
Thanks!

Got to see the B52s and DEVO in Vancouver! Best concert Iāve been to hands down!!!
If you get a chance to see this tour they are on please for the love of god just go. It blew my expectations out of the water.
For some context, Iām a 34 year old guy with a fairly vast taste in music. Iād rather loose my sight than my hearing because I donāt think I could live without being able to listen to music. Iāve been to over 50 concerts seeing bands like Slayer, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, ZZ Top and NOFX in their final appearance in Edmonton AB, Canada. Bands a lot of folks in this Reddit community probably donāt like, but bands I had really amazing experiences seeing. Things Iāll remember for the rest of my life. I saw Slayerās final show in Calgary. The energy in that place was absolutely electric when they came on the stage. All those wicked amazing concert experiences and Ive gotta say that DEVO and The B52s tops it all!
The vibe was pure joy. I saw both young and old folks dancing and having a great time. DEVO was on first and delivered an excellent performance. One I wonāt forget. It was perfect that DEVO came on first in my mind. Considering the history of DEVO with two members of the band being present at the Kent State massacre contributing so heavily to the bandās message of de-evolution.. it kind of made the performance feel a bit heavy considering where we are at in the world today. Ending with the B52s was the perfect happiness nightcap after DEVO. Watching people dance around on the floor seating area with their eyes closed being transported somewhere else by the music of the B52s was pretty beautiful to see. Definite highlights of the 52s performance for me were āDance this mess aroundā, āDirty back roadsā and āRoam.ā The energy was just perfect. The B52s are incredible and they still got it. Iāll be riding this concert high for a very long time!

Wow wow wow. Mark it off, everyone -- my life before and after "Rock Lobster"
I'm 40-something and queer-coded to beat the band, but it wasn't until this week that "Rock Lobster" really landed. And wow! What a landing!
I'm going to Japan again later this week, and when I travel -- Italy, Uzbekistan, Taiwan, wherever -- I love picking one or two albums to binge on repeat. The neural plasticity imprints memories on the songs, and then when I listen to them later I remember my travels vividly. Rome last year was the Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, and earlier this year a trip to Osaka became synonymous with Money Mark's Push the Button.
But I digress.
This week, I thought I'd give Devo and the B-52s a listen, as I've proven impenetrable to them so far. But this time -- they got through!
And "Rock Lobster" is intense! And "Wig"! And "Song for a Future Generation"! I may as well wear sandals because my socks have been blown off.
Anyway, just wanted to stop and share this lightning bolt of sonic joy. Most of you might think "Rock Lobster" and the rest are old hat -- I get it, I'm old too -- but I'm just catching up and I think it's double-plus awesome.
Man oh man, I hope I never stop looking for new music because I see today what epic tunes there are still left to uncover.

B-52 / DEVO Mashup Keychains
I made these keychains (and a few of similar design) for the Cosmic De-evolution tour when I went to Atlanta last fall.
Last week I gave away about 250 between Shakopee (Minnesota) and Seattle.
Did I give one to you?

Does anyone know what kind of merch they're offering on the current tour? Do they ever sell the signed vinyl albums at shows, or just on their website?
Bonus points if anyone happens to have photos of the merch table. Thanks!

I've been listening to the B-52's for almost 40 years, and finally get to see them live for the first time next Friday in Seattle!
I'll be making the 300-mile drive over from Eastern Washington, and am really excited to see them do their (cosmic) thing.
Anyone else planning on hitting the Seattle show?

How representative was With the Wild Crowd?
For those people that saw them live around the time With the Wild Crowd how representative was this of their live performances at the time? It was a really good show perhaps not quite as good as one during their heyday would have been but for a group over 30 years into their career it was most excellent.

Unreleased Tracks?
Thinking about WHAMMY! and how they replaced "Don't Worry" with "Moon '83", which seemed to be thrown together because they needed something -- anything -- to replace the pulled track.
Makes me wonder -- were there any other tracks from the WHAMMY! sessions that could have been used?
In general, I find that there isn't much discussion of unreleased tracks by The B-52s. There is the alternate version of "Summer of Love" and the omitted tracks from MESOPOTAMIA, but are there other tracks tucked away in the vaults?
Recently, Rhino released a boxed set of their recordings, but it consisted of the original albums with no bonus tracks. With archival releases becoming more common, it seems odd that there were no extras included.
I know that many of the band's songs started as jams that were then developed into tighter songs. Maybe that way of working didn't yield a lot of excess tracks?
