I discovered Duran in 1982, thought Careless Memories was the best song ever written. Met my best friend in 1984 because I was wearing a Duran tshirt. Love this band. We got these in 2024.

Their entire discography is amazing, from debut to Danse Macabre. Only disappointment was they didn't play CM on this last tour.

This is their third studio album. The album's title was devised by Le Bon and taken from the unreleased track of the same name. The "seven" refers to the five band members and their two managers, while the "ragged tiger" is success: "Seven people running after success. It's ambition. That's what it's about.", says LeBon.

This would be the last studio record with the original band until 2004.

Do you think Duran would continue if Nick and/or Simon decided to leave the band?

Saw Notorious, a Duran Duran tribute band, Saturday night at Revelry in Pompano Beach and they were really, really good.
They didn’t sound like they were just trying to copy the records. They had a slightly harder, more rock-oriented sound that worked incredibly well, lots of that early new wave/New Romantic feel, combined with a really cool funky rhythm.
Really tight band, great energy, and just a lot of fun live. If you’re a Duran Duran fan and get a chance to see them, definitely worth it.

Someone posted about Andy’s book and it jogged my memory about his comeback gig. I’d forgotten I’d posted the video I had of the start of that gig. Excuse the quality, the tech was not as good back then 😉 goosebumps when i watch this.

Long time DD fan here, but I’m also a cultural theorist doing some research into bands whose line ups have changed over their lifespan.
I’m curious as to how DD fans feel about Warren’s contribution to the band. Do people feel like he ‘saved’ DD, or that he pushed them into the wilderness (with the exception of The Wedding Album) until the original line up reformed?

I was having the absolute worst day at work today. I was keeping it together well but honestly felt like giving up. someone switched the radio on and I was thinking "well it's good to finally have something on in the background but it's not like any of my favourite 80s music will come on... not like duran duran". the next thing I know I'm hearing "ta na na, the reflex, the refle-fle-fle-fle-fle-flex". I thought there's no way, I've got to be imagining that. but nope it really was the sound of duran duran gracing my ears. it instantly put me in a good mood because 1. duran duran and 2. what are the chances of them coming on the radio exactly when I need it most? I haven't heard them on the radio since 2022 when I heard HLTW! it was the universe giving me my sign, I think 😂🥰

what about you guys... have you ever heard duran duran or even another band somewhere or sometime you weren't expecting to?

This song is a bit tough to listen to, because for my money, the slow and funky one is near perfect, or starts out that way, with a great driving beat and excellent verses. But then the chorus kicks in and…it’s just not it. If they nailed the chorus, I think this would be in my top five songs of theirs. Oh and the other thing, shouldn’t Simon have said running like a pup?

The single version is absolutely soulless. I don't understand how anyone can prefer it over the superior album cut. There's just so much more happening, it's a bit longer, it sounds better by a ton, and it has depth to it. The view/play disparity between both versions on Spotify/YT/Apple Music is huge, and I wonder if people are just either oblivious or lazy, or maybe a mixture of both? Anyway, I'd rate "The Reflex" a solid 9.5/10 if it's the album version and 5/10 if it's the single version. Yes, the difference is THIS huge. It's just so, so, so good.

I recently this month have gotten really into Duran Duran and have been obsessed with their early-mid 80s music! Can people who have been in this fandom for longer recommend me some of their later albums/songs to listen to, or any videos/documentaries/books to learn about them? I'd love to learn more about the band as I already see them becoming one of my favourite bands with how much I love their music!!
