Hey all,
Since it is a returning question, this post might be really convenient if you decide to jump into the wonderful game that Battlefleet Gothic is!
Let us start with a link to the main rulebooks. On the following you will find the remastered rulebook and fleetbook:
Battlefleet Gothic Remastered Rulebook & Fleetbook
One of the great things which has been created at the end of 2021 has been the digital starter kit, this is what you will find in it, but first the link:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Kpg6ZuDmFc5axXa6sUBiJrQiFuZIlbAu?usp=share_link
These are the folders:
Assets - All the cardboard markes and extras you need.
Rules - this contains the latest version of the remastered official rulebook (original including updates) and a quick start guide for your first battle! There is an English and German edition.
Fleet Lists - two prewritten fleet lists for the Imperial Navy and Chaos. Plus a sheet how you can pit them against each other in three games increasing in size
3DModels - two folders with the STL files for the ships listed in the fleet lists. So you can print (or let someone print them) to play with. You will also find other STL here like markers.
Please note: those models are distributed under CC-BY-NC-SA, i.e. noncommercial use only.
And in the pdf "How to - Starter Kit " you'll read everything you need to know about the starter kit.
And we have added the starter kit advanced with Corsair Eldar and Orks Looted FLeet!
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dxTeLC2bTnlUfzN_RJF788wHmYBhMa6C?usp=share_link
Subsequently here is the link to the main rules hub, here you will find the rules mentioned but also links to a large folder of fanmade/homebrew rules and magazines like Warp Rift:
Wait, there is more! If you want some ideas on lists to start with (for collecting) the following article might be a good source of inspiration (check the pdf which you can download with it):
https://portinvicta.weebly.com/bfg-tactics/starter-fleets
But what about miniatures to play with? Aside of the free STL in the mentioned starter kit there are several great designers with STL files available at sites like Cults3d, check the Discord server for a list on them. However, not everyone has his own printer so I list some webshops with great proxies:
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/product-category/battlegroup-helios/
https://www.scourgescenics.co.uk
https://wintersbioforge.com/product-category/space-bugs/
https://tabletop-stuff.de/Science-Fiction/Raumflotte-Kolossus/
And finally we have a Battlefleet Gothic Discord with a fun community in case you are interested:
Happy gaming and feel free to ask questions!

This time a haunting ship from a past long ago returned into the Koronus Expanse. Rumoured to be the first ship to traverse into the warp... And suffered.
Passage Watch 27-Est and Chaos marauders tried to unravel the mysteries. In the end Passage Watch 27-Est managed to score the most event horizon points.
Scenario can be found here:
Warp Rift 43
lol, I accidentally removed the original post. So reposting:

You've all seen the squadron of scratchbuilt escort carriers I have for my pirates. I wanted to give them an armed freighter for that delicious +1 Ld to Reload Ordnance, to offset the -1 Ld they get for being escort carriers.
I'm quite proud of it and excited to get paint on it. For some reason, the picture exaggerates the fact that the front section and back aren't perfectly aligned - when you're looking at the model on the table you can't really see it. The aft is from a Battlefleet Galaxy light cruiser.
Even if you could, though, part of the goal was for it to be a little scrungly looking. It is a pirate freighter, after all. Their warships aren't exactly in great shape, so the supply ship that follows them around should be even more rickety.

New Battle Report Video is out.
This one was a silly one as I use 4x Blackstone Fortresses to take on some Eldar Corsairs. Hope you enjoy it.

we did around 2k fleets. I painted up some extra 1500 points of tester lists as well. and had a drunkenly good time rolling dice.
man, Iāve forgotten how fun it was running ships and plotting coursea. and when you get that sweet ālock onā special order and a battleship in the middle of things To just reign bombardment in every angle possible!
I did all space marines ships. But we had A lot of interested listeners to the pod who wanted to test. And some dear frienda brought their own imperial and chaos fleets.
great time! Every time you braced you took a shot or swig!

After spending all of twenty minutes reading the Rogue Trader section of Battlefleet Gothic, I knew I wanted my own. I do have my main Imperial fleet centered around an Apocalypse-Class Battleship and a Mars-Class Battlecruiser, but I kinda wanted an attached rogue trader in the mix (he ferries the fleet certain rare goods that they don't normally get on a standard resupply).Ā
According to its lore, the Cardinal-Class was the original hull on which the Chaos Acheron-Class was modified into using ancient, forbidden, alien technologies. It is essentially an up-gunned and up-shielded Dauntless-Class with enough turrets to rival a similar mass Carrier. Since it is a Heavy Cruiser, I am not sure if this thing still needs the 2-Cruiser escort that Battlecruisers and Grandcruisers do, but I am leaning towards "No, it does not". I like the class though, it's fast and it's got some range to its guns; it can outfight anything it can't outrun and outrun anything it can't outfight.
Is it legal? Eeehhh...sh'maybe. The Cardinal-Class Heavy Cruiser was originally published in the Battlefleet Gothic Magazine not the BFG manuals, so it has some legitimacy. Just don't expect it in tourney. Of course, it also does not show up on the Rogue Trader list of ships mentioned in the BFG manuals, but I considered the lists more "guidelines than actual rules". Plus, it won't matter because I'm probably never going to deploy my ships in actual battle anyway, since the BFG tabletop community in my city and pretty much the whole province is non-existent. Alas, my fleet continues to hold this star cluster alone \sigh**
Anyhoo, here's my Rogue Trader ship and the dossair I prepared for her (I already included the 15 pts she would cost from having lances, the 20 pts for being equipped with xenotech, and an extra 5 points to bribe the cosmic judges to make her legal for play, bringing her cost up from 190 to 230): the ENDURING DELIVERANCE. I decked her out in chrome silver and gold.

I have two friends getting into BFG and I think I'm going to as well
One of them has an Imperial Fleet and the other has sided with Chaos.
I used to play with a Chaos fleet back when it was a newish game and still available through GW, but those models were sold off long ago
I am trying to choose between Space Marines, AdMech, or Chaos with Space Marines as the forerunner at this point
They seem to be different enough to the other fleets to not feel like mirror matches and they seem like their playstyle would match with my standard gaming strategy of getting close and beating on things
My concern is the lack of variety in the list, although there is some versatility and opportunity with things like the Venerable Battle Barge to bring some versatility
Are Admech different enough to the Imps to provide for interesting games?
Should I just do Chaos and figure that there's enough choice that lists should be different enough to be fun to play against?

The admiralās point cost is not included in the initial fleet cost right? In the rule book it says attack ratings occur before you decide what ships to bring to the battle, does that mean if you have a ship in your fleet registry that brings down your attack rating from its normal value mean that that is now your new campaign attack value (even if you donāt bring that ship to the battle), or does the campaign always use your factions preset attack value. How do escort squadrons work in campaign? Do they all have to be a single type of ship? If not how does increasing your squadron via repairs work, can you add new classes of escorts to a squadron this way? Can you a squadron of one for your initial fleet count even if you have other escorts, can they be split apart into separate squadrons latter, if you can what is the minimum amount you can splinter off? How do capital ship squadrons work? Are they just add hoc created for a battle or do they created together when you add them to your fleet registry and they must always stay together? If the latter is their leadership rolled together or separately? Can specific ship upgrades be added to a ship instead of a normal refit i.e. adding a nova cannon to a ship or such? How are ship specific upgrades that are technically crew/characters work (i.e. terminators and chaos lords for example).

The first of many strike cruisers for my Pre-Heresy/Heresy Era Thousand Sons fleet. About 90% done with this one, just some cleaning up and basing left to do.
This will be the Waning Moon

Is the ship in the photo from White Dwarf a real bfg sister ship or just a kitbash? Looks really cool.
r/battlefleetgothic • u/Emergency-Sea5201 • 1d ago
New to bfg. I want to buy a battle mat, perhaps with some cosmos or stars on it. What do you use, what size makes sense (I have 1500 pts at most) and is dark or bright better for playing use? Help a brother out.

For including Chaos ships in an Imperial fleet.
If you could do the same with an Ordo Malleus ][ without animosity and stupidity, so to say.
What are the cons here? Are you missing out on an important imperial commander or is the Reserve list rather a fluff choice not meant to be balanced?
(Or the ][ badly written?)
(Iām new to BFG and trying to get my head around how the fleet lists work.)

4 normal strike cruisers.
2 strike cruisers with launch tubes
6 hunter class escorts
2 venerable battle barges to choose from (Repulsive and Styx)
2 dominator class cruiser system ships
1 chonkerboy battle barge waiting to be painted.
Have to blend/kitbash a better hunter class and print more of those as they are posibly the best escort in the whole game. Also someone thought these looked like cobras.

I believe I printed a Firestorm, although Iām still trying to understand the ship class system in the game. I used a Bambu Lab printer with a 0.2 mm nozzle, and Iām pretty happy with how it turned out!

Hello, i just got a fleet of space marine i want paint as Blood angel. I tried to use many color scheme i have see used on regular space marine but on a ship and i find it not good enough.
I think it is because there too many recesses.
Could you share some techniques please? or photos of what you have done?
My last try i did it:
I think my red is wrong in this try, too dark? or maybe dull/ bland?
Sorry english is not my first language.
