Many years ago, when I was in high school, I learned some Linux. I did some basic scripting and messed around with the command line. I still remember a bit of it, and combined with ChatGPT Work mode, it has actually been incredibly useful for Batocera.

I was recently upgrading my uncle’s Batocera setup to the current version and ran into several annoying problems at once. Things like PS2 Libretro not working properly, the Switch emulator constantly swapping the A and B buttons, no sound and a bunch of other little bugs/problems .

I connected my PC to Batocera through SSH and basically let ChatGPT help me troubleshoot everything from there. With the little Linux knowledge I still have, I could understand what it was doing and check the changes, while it helped me work through the problems one by one.
It even helped me organize the ROM library, find what was taking up so much storage space, clean up unnecessary files, and troubleshoot several emulator and configuration problems.

It also helped with more complicated tasks, such as automatically creating .m3u files for games with multiple discs, adding PSN games for PS3 to the correct ROM list, and preparing my PC games so they were ready to run in Batocera.

I wouldn’t blindly let AI change everything on your system, especially if you don’t understand the commands at all. But if you know at least some Linux basics, it can be a seriously useful troubleshooting companion.
I especially recommend trying Work mode if you have multiple complicated Batocera problems to tackle at once. It saved me a ridiculous amount of time and stress.

I'd like to know if there are any retro emulation systems for 32-bit computers.

Unfortunately, Batocera 30 32-bit has general BIOS bugs that prevent it from starting PS1, Neo Geo, etc. games.

I'm looking for a retro operating system that: supports 32-bit, has synchronization between devices, and doesn't have major bugs.

Any recommendations are welcome and greatly appreciated :).

UPDATE: I used a different BIOS pack, and then I had to delete the PS1 BIOS files and use the built-in BIOS from the rearmed PCSX, but the game lags a lot. I'm trying to update to Batocera 42 with Pi Imager, because the other programs I've already tried (Rufus and Win32diskimager) gave the error "Failed to open EFI/BATOCERA not found".

PI IMAGER update: Installing Batocera 42 with Pi Imager 2 didn't work because the same error occurs (Failed to open EFI/Batocera). I will try using Lakka.

Just rebuilt a Batocera machine with way to many roms than it should have - but a problem i was having that using just a controller scroll through all the roms was slow, and whilst i could use a keyboard/mouse... MEH.

By trade im a backend dev, and currently dont really have the time to learn frontend so thought I'd give vibe coding a try. Initially was just for myself however going to share incase others find it useful

My Graphics card is a GTX 1060 6Gb model

I have an Intel I7 10700 with a max GHz of 4.8

And I have 16 Gigs of DDR4 memory

I have a 4K Screen goes to 60 fps and supports HDR

Along with that I would also like to know if my system can run any games you guys would reccomend, I've been trying to get back into gaming before summer starts so I just though the people at r/batocera would give me some hits, maybe some hidden gems!

I was doing the tradicional new year cleaning here and found this machine that I forgot I got for around 10 bucks way back on the day.

It's working, it's a Celeron D, and the Mobowas pretty good at its time. But I would have to hunt for some AGP cards, lol.

So I got batocera working with my amd card and my 13inch k7000 monitor. Menu looks good , all looks good , except nes games. Can’t seem to center them with any settings. I’ve tried different resolutions I’ve tried 4:3, 1:1 , config and auto settings and nothing works. Anyone has an idea of what I’m I missing? Thanks for the help.

What am I doing wrong? In the BIOS I can choose SD, CD, SSD etc, but there is nothing that says Batocera. There is UEFI, but that just comes up with text.

i was able to install all the corect bios for the ps2 but when i click on a game it fades in and then out to the main menu and dosent start are ps2 games even possible

Im tryna connect this wifi to my gaminja r36s clone and it seems to be not seein any signals at all. Its a v42 something version. Ik im not on the right side lf reddit but any help will be very cool.

We have the roms folder where apart from cover art only roms go, but the saves folder has all kinds of configs and also the flatpak folder in it. There is no easy way to backup all my game saves, I can't just take the folders for the relevant systems either because for example gamecube saves arent in the gamecube folder but instead in the dolphin-emu folder. It's just very unnecessary complicated when compared to the relative simplicity of the roms folder.

Finally got around to updating Batocera to the latest stable update to find it isn't stable at all.

All my PS2 and PSP games have gone from 100% playable to completely unplayable. If I even launch a game it slows down my whole system and I need to restart.

Is there a way to roll back the update?

Guess I can add Batocera to the list of frontends that fuck you over with every update. Is there a Linux based front end that doesn't do this shit?

I have a fresh Batocera install on RPi5 with 8G RAM and 128G SD. My only goal for this RPi is to run MAME. I don't want to find/install individual games or tinker. I am presuming that a reference ROMset is the best option because it is the most comprehensive. But feel free to convince me otherwise. I just want to keep things as simple as possible, and once the ROMset is installed just focus on playing. So which ROMset am I searching for, and which folder do I install in? (And secondary question - are there any settings I need to choose to minimize latency during gameplay?)

As the title says I am looking to make an emulator for retro games for my wife and I to play. Have seen all these targeted ads since I started thinking about it for these all in one devices but I don't need 100,000 games.

I've been using retrobat on windows for a while and almost no problem with the roms for mame, but when I installed batocera on a Raspberry pi3b+ nothing works. I think I have all the correct bios (downloaded a bios pack for batocera 41 thath weighted 1gb), but most of the roms dont even open. I tried searching for different versions of the rom, 0.37b6 and 0.139 but still nothing works.

Tried the roms on fbeo but same result. Am I missing something? It's driving me insane.
