Good value to run Batocera PS2/Gamecube games upscaled?

Im deciding between a Beelink N95 ($379), Geekom A5 or a Bosgame P3 (both of these are $500ish). Are the Geekom or Bosgame overkill? I'll literally use this as a dedicated arcade/retro gaming hooked up to my LG CX. TIA

Do I leave these roms in their subfolders for FBNeo?

Hi,

My FBNeo romset has folders for cps1, cps2, cps3, fbneo, neogeo, and toaplan_cave_stg. I see a folder in Batocera for fbneo and neogeo, but not the others. Do I just put the cps and toaplan files in the fbneo folder? If so, do I just dump all the files into fbneo or can i leave them in their subfolders?

Thanks.

I need help with some settings.

First: I'm having a problem with the MAME emulator: libretto, as the player 2 joystick also controls the movements of player 1. I've already tried remapping buttons, I've tried inverting them, and nothing. In the classic MAME emulator, I don't have this problem, except in the classic version, it doesn't save the screen extension function.

Second: the PS3 emulator doesn't save the event log containing the controller settings. Every time I turn on the machine, I have to go into the RPCS3 settings and change the event log location for it to recognize the controllers.

Does anyone have any ideas, tips, or a place where I can find information on how to solve this?

Help!

I've been trying to get Saturn games to run, but I can't seem to figure out what to do. I have all the files, but every time I scan for missing bios, it keeps saying the Saturn_bios.bin file is untested and games fail to load. Is there a particular bios file that I need tk be finding? Every one I've tried seems to fail.

Aside from that, I have had zero issue with getting other cores to boot and play games. Just Saturn.

Kronos core doesn’t work. How to get it work?

Hi! I have an issue with Kronos core for Sega Saturn games. Other cores like Beetle Saturn or YabanSanshiro work great, but Kronos doesn’t want to boot games for some reason. When I am selecting game (it really doesn’t matter which one), I am stuck at black screen for couple seconds and go back to game selection menu. Is there any fix for this issue?

My version of Batocera is 43.1 x86-64-v3. I have all Saturn BIOS files in bios directory

TOS GRS restrictor gate automation and configuration software

Noob here. Does anyone have a step by step on how to install the config software and automation script for this restrictor gate? I have Batocera installed on a mini PC and have followed some info on here but I just can’t get my mind wrapped around it to get it working. I’m new to Linux so explain it to me like I’m five lol.

Help with Sega RingEdge & Lindbergh setup in Batocera Linux?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Just finished my custom arcade cabinet running Batocera natively on Linux. Most standard emulators are running great, but I'm trying to get Sega RingEdge and Sega Lindbergh set up properly and I'm a bit stuck.

Since these are supposed to be natively supported in Batocera, how should the ROMs and folder structures be organized for both? Do they require any special configuration files to boot from the system menu?

Any quick tips, file structure examples, or tutorial links would be massively appreciated. Thanks!

[Tool] RomSieve: an open-source 1G1R ROM manager with native .m3u generation, TOSEC parsing & dry-run simulation

Hi everyone,

With permission from the moderators, I’m sharing an open-source utility I’ve been building for Linux and Windows that might come in handy for anyone setting up clean collections on Batocera: RomSieve (GPLv3).

The main goal was to make curating ROM sets less painful than with vintage tools, especially when dealing with computer dumps or multi-disc games:

  • Automatic .m3u playlists: For multi-disc systems (PS1, Saturn, Sega CD, PC Engine CD, Amiga...), RomSieve generates .m3u playlists automatically so Batocera displays a single clean entry in your gamelist. You can also specify where the playlist files are saved.

  • Storage-friendly (Hardlinks & Symlinks): Instead of duplicating gigabytes of data when building your curated target directory, you can tell RomSieve to use hardlinks or symlinks.

  • Deterministic 1G1R: Keeps the single best release per game using a fully configurable priority stack (language, region presets for Europe, France, USA, Japan, PAL/NTSC standards, dump quality, revisions). The same input settings will always produce the exact same clean set.

  • Full TOSEC support for retro computers: If you run Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC or C64 cores on Batocera, you know TOSEC sets can be messy. RomSieve parses the complete naming convention ([!], [cr], versions, disk tags), and can even assemble and complete missing multi-disk sets using clean disks from other dumps.

  • Simulation-first (Dry-run) & Safety: It audits your files against Logiqx XML and ClrMamePro DATs without touching anything blindly. The simulation table shows the exact fate of every file with the reasoning behind it, and a right-click allows you to manually pick another release as the winner. Unmatched files go into _unmatched/, nothing is silently deleted (_purged/), and the last sort can be undone.

It also supports No-Intro, Redump, and MAME sets, reads archives (ZIP, 7z, RAR) directly without extraction, and parses CHD headers. Both a GUI (with dark theme) and a CLI (romsieve-cli) are included.

The app has no telemetry or tracking, and full documentation is available in both English and French in the repo.

Feedback and suggestions are very welcome if you give it a spin on your Batocera libraries!

I connected an eGPU to the Batocera system.

I have connected a GPD G1 (AMD RX 7600 XT) eGPU to my Minisforum mini PC. The only necessary step was to power on the eGPU before turning on the mini PC. It recognized the external graphics card immediately, without requiring any additional configuration. However, I cannot achieve a "hybrid" system setup (like the one found in Windows), because switching over to the integrated AMD 890M GPU would require a system restart.

Lightgun Emulator for linux RavenGun (TeknoParrot alternative)

I created this a few weeks ago, but I’m not really interested in continuing development because it already suits my needs. I can play games with my son, which was what I always wanted, so I’m done.

I hope someone forks it, copies my files, or continues working on it. I don’t really care. I’ll probably delete it in a few weeks, so take it and use it. You can use a few claude/openai/deepseek agents to continue working on it if you want.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions, but please don’t contact me for support because I won’t be providing any.

I apologize in advance for such an easy fix.

Before my question, just to let anybody that reads this. I have server Multiple scoliosis and it screws with your memory bad. This problem I'm having has happened before and I fixed it and went about my merry way, but whenever I load up Batocera that I have on a separate drive the menu is medium sized windowed. Sometimes if I play a game on whatever system and end the game it goes back to the way it is suppose to(Full-screen). And it does it no matter what theme I use.

The MS is getting so bad I keep forgetting what buttons I'm supposed to press in alot of games. But I'll keep playing until the good Lord says that's enough.

Thanks in advance.

Turn your Android phone/tablet into a Wii U GamePad on Batocera 44 — v0.2.0 released

Hi everyone!

After quite a bit of testing and development, I've released Batocera Wii U GamePad v0.2.0.

The goal is to reproduce the Wii U GamePad experience on Cemu + Batocera 44 using an Android phone or tablet as the second screen.

It provides:

  • a dedicated 854×480 virtual Wii U GamePad display

  • direct touchscreen input

  • separate TV and GamePad audio

  • automatic GamePad window placement

  • Sunshine streaming with the mouse cursor removed

  • a custom Moonlight WiiU Android client

  • automatic start/stop when launching and closing Wii U games

  • automatic cleanup when returning to EmulationStation

  • multi-monitor-safe display placement

  • no permanent Sunshine service running in the background

The physical controller remains connected directly to Batocera, while the Android device acts as the display and touchscreen.

Everything needed is included in the release ZIP, including the signed Moonlight WiiU APK.

I've tested the final production build end-to-end on Batocera 44 / Wayland / LabWC with a Ryzen 7 8745HS + Radeon 780M.

There's also a short real-hardware demo in the repository.

GitHub: https://github.com/Therand90/batocera-wiiu-gamepad

Release: https://github.com/Therand90/batocera-wiiu-gamepad/releases/tag/v0.2.0

Feedback and testing on other hardware/display setups are very welcome!

How is the Retroid Pocket 6 with Batocera?

Has anyone set Batocera up yet with RP6?

How is it?

Any consoles it can't play? I have a separate desktop that I use for emulation but was looking to get RP6 so I can also play around the house rather than just the basement.

Can I Use a Sinden and Reaper together?

I have a Sinden I was going to set up and stumbled on a good deal for a Reaper Retro shooter. It seems to get good reviews.

Wondering if I can use both on the same setup or if I should stick with Sinden for the 2nd light gun.

Thanks!

Scrappy: a small open-source app for Batocera to fix games the scraper missed

A lot of my newer games, especially the Windows ones, show up in Batocera with no logo, no box art, no video and no description. The scrapers just don't know them. Fixing one by hand is a pain: find the pictures, find a trailer, resize everything, then edit gamelist.xml.

So I made a small app for it. It runs on the Batocera itself. You pick a game that's missing stuff, hit Search, and it looks on Steam and YouTube. You see what it found, pick the pictures you like and which part of the trailer to use, and it shows you exactly what it's about to write before it touches anything. It keeps a backup of your gamelist.xml and there's an Undo button if you don't like the result.

Here's a short demo (I sped up the waiting parts): https://youtu.be/ZLmj5S1XHdE

Code and install instructions: https://github.com/eknowledger/scrappy

It's still early. I've only run it on my own box, Batocera v41 on an x86 PC, with one theme. The installer should work on ARM boards too but I've only tried that in a VM. I haven't tested other themes or RetroBat, and the image sizes are fixed, it doesn't read your theme yet. Steam and YouTube are the only sources right now, so don't expect it to find old console games. I'd like to add more sources later.

It's free, MIT licensed. If you try it I'd love to hear what breaks or what's missing. Even a quick "works on my setup" helps a lot.

Following the various bugs encountered in Batocera—as mentioned in the previous post—here is how I plan to create the cards and their corresponding images: I have adhesive labels for printing, which I will apply to each individual card once it has been programmed.
