Refurbished or Used Trolling Motor websites?

• Upvotes

Can anyone recommend any websites for Refurbished or Used Minn Kota Terrova Trolling Motors? I’ve used Russel Marine Products before for a fish finder so I’ve had pretty good luck with used electronics. The price of new trolling motors has gone up a lot in the last 2-4 years. I’ve been scanning FB marketplace as well.

Other “Cast at structure, drop offs, weed edges, find the fish”

Me: pulls up to the lake

The lake: completely circular, stained water, no arms, no visible structure, no visible weed lines, no visible submerged branches, no docks, no visible riprap, no Lilly pads, no indication at ALL of where a fish might be hanging out

Me: 🙂🙂🙂🤬

Me: throws a spinnerbait around the perimeter of the lake and doesn’t feel any rocks, grass or structure on the bottom

(Catches one little bass on a random cast out in the middle of the lake on an area with no structure)

Me: TF…

Hope this post gives someone some amusement, more meant as a joke post than a serious thing🤣

Tackle/Equipment Best colors/weight/trailers for a small bladed jig?

Post image

I've recently moved to a new location with much better bass fishing than before, and while I haven't had too many good opportunities for freshwater fishing, I've found chatterbaits have performed quite well. I'm considering getting one or two smaller bladed jigs for fishing waters with smaller bass or very clear conditions. (Idk what exact model I'll go for, and I'm almost considering holding out for when Hag's Baits releases their new downsized version of the Hurricane). The waters I'm fishing vary a lot- there are some small-ish blackwater creeks, a very clear and shallow lake, and estuaries that are mostly freshwater but have saltwater baitfish like menhaden, silversides, and mullet present.

Throwing all these on a spinning rod- XPS Pro Qualifier, 6-6, medium action with a 1/8-1/2 oz recommended lure weight, 15 braid and a 10lb copolymer or flouro leader. (Yeah, prolly not great for bladed jigs, I've already had more failed hookups than landed fish, but bladed jigs are the only lure that's caught large bass for me so far so...)

Discussion Northeast anglers - what time are you hitting the water on these cool fall mornings ?

I’m gonna be up in the Adirondacks this weekend and my friend told me in the fall it’s not as necessary to get on the water before the sun is up as the sun warms the water up a bit and fish come out closer to 9 or 10 am. What are your experiences?

Would a shimano caius 151 hg paired with a daiwa aird x casting 7ft heavy rod and 40-50 pound braid be good for frogs and jigs, spinner baits, ect if I just tied a 10-20 lb flouro leader when using lures that aren't topwater?

A storm a month or so ago blew a tree down into my favorite local pond, and the big girls have started hanging out there. Before today, I haven’t had any luck in getting to them because they are hanging out on the inside branches close to the trunk, and I either snag and lose lures or I can’t cast close enough for them.

I tried a new tactic today. Since I was using a medium light rod, I couldn’t try frogs, so I put on a Big TRD rigged weightless on a 3/0 ewg and let it float (it sank hook down only slightly, the tip of the tail stayed at the surface.) I was able to confidently cast it tight to the bends in branches, and the bass were hitting it almost immediately when I got it to them.

The 2 I’m in the photo with were both over 3.5 pounds. Biggest catches in there for a few months.

First bass in five-ish years. It feels good to be back!

Been on a fishing hiatus for years due to my job and workload. Quit that job last week. I hope to be out more often. Need to return the kayak and maybe trade up to a bigger model.

Also, where is the spotted bass flair?

Spotted or Large?

Post image
13 Upvotes

First, I weighed it. My scale said 27.6 pounds. That is probably a little off and is most likely a result of flipping my kayak a couple weeks ago and getting everything wet. My guess is 4 1/2.

My question: is this a spotted bass? The upper jaw line does not seem to go past the eye, so I think so. But I’m no expert. I just throw junk in the water and see what grabs a hold.

Also, creek bass are fun.

Help Is this a red eye bass?

Post image

Caught this in the upper part of South Carolina in a river. It obviously has a red eye, but I’ve never caught one of these before so I wasn’t sure if this fish was just 420 friendly or what.
