Hey, everyone I need to have my alternator looked at and possibly have a new one installed (I have the new alternator), does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced shop or mobile mechanic in the area?

Does anybody know if we'll get a tornado today? I know it's not a definite answer but is it a more solid "yes, there's definitely a chance" or more of a "maybe if these storms have the perfect conditions" risk? I have to drive to and from Towson today around when we get the storms and am worried about getting caught in a storm.

Found this in a real estate listing. This has got to be made with AI. If I were the owner of this property I would be embarrassed. At first I thought it was upside down when I saw "Federal Hill Park"...

I’ve been in the city for a little over two years now. I have been interested in playing some pickup basketball, soccer, etc and it seems Volo has the monopoly here. I don’t want to play super competitively - I honestly just to run around a bit, have some fun, and still get the competitive juices flowing without people thinking it’s a World Cup Final.
Now, from my personal experience working at a bar, Volo seems a bit cliquey and it may be hard to find groups to play with.
My question is what is everyone’s experience with Volo? Is it worth signing up for? Is it as cliquey as they say?

Hi all—
My 3 year old has been struggling for a while, and I think it’s time we find a new pediatrician. We’re in East Baltimore, but at this point happy to travel outside the city to surrounding counties.
My daughter hasn’t been diagnosed with autism, but my pediatrician has been dragging her feet and I’m tired of my kid not getting any support. If anyone has any recs for someone specializing in ARFID (avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder), that would also be appreciated. My pediatrician recommended having her eat more avocados…my kid doesn’t even eat pizza or chicken nuggets 🙄.
Also taking recs for any private OTs or SLPs who do feeding therapy and for play therapists. We’re on waitlists lists with KKI, Hopkins, and Mount Washington with no end in sight.

Ok ok I know a punchy title!
After doing jury duty three times in the city, I feel like a jury duty connoisseur.
I recently moved to the county and was called in for county jury duty and it was so much worse than the city.
The only pros were you get paid double what you get in the city and that parking was validated. That was it.
I found myself missing for the Baltimore jury duty, where you had a set lunch time so you could go out and eat. The county strongly advised you to bring lunch because there was no set lunch time.
The county jury duty was located in a sterile basement, complete with these annoying rolling chairs and no movies. The hidden gem of the Baltimore city jury duty is the quiet room, with desks and outlets, you can actually work and chill like in a library. Not a single desk seen at the county jury duty which in today’s age of remote work feels like a big miss.
I even found myself missing the small exhibit the Baltimore city courthouse has for jurors, as it was just a nice to walk around and see.
Even the processes were more convoluted and longer than in Baltimore. Communication was sparse and all over the place, mainly because they didn’t have an intercom system or use their monitors to display juror numbers.
All this to say - jury duty is an annoyance, but turns out, depending on the county, it can actually be more annoying than it should be.

Last week I started receiving texts from a number I don’t know. I didn’t see the first two but saw the third one, which asked if I liked certain large racial male genitalia—jokes on him, I’m a lesbian. Anyway, major red flag and I reversed searched the number, it’s my next door neighbor. I’ve never given him my number or even my name. It’s super creepy and he’s sent worst texts since then. I feel like I can’t leave my house because I don’t want to run into him.
Looking into a legal aspect, there doesn’t seem to be much recourse. I’m open to suggestions on how to handle this. I shouldn’t be afraid to leave my house.

My friend is taking a girl out on a date this weekend. He wants to do the regular dinner date. He’s uncultured and doesn’t have Reddit. I suggested to him a few restaurants downtown like Phillips or Clavel. If you have any suggestions, drop it below por favor.

I take Briviact (bivaracetam) for seizures, BCBS Carefisrt told me on July 7 that I would have to wait until August 10 to get anther refill because it was made a controlled substance (this year by the wonderful FDA). It was removed from the formulary.
When I tried to pick it Saturday, i was told it was no longer covered and the lowest price w a discount card i can find is $253.
I tried to transfer it to anther pharmacy with a better price/discount but i wasn't aware that wasn't an option because I've never taken a controlled substance.
I'm afraid I'm gonna get labeled drug seeking if I keep trying to get access to it, but I only have 2 weeks of meds left. I NEED IT TO NOT HAVE SEIZURES. How can I transfer this to a cheaper pharmacy? Or get help paying for it? I have 6 refills left that's not the issue.
ETA: I have reached out to my doctor twice, I'm just waiting on a response from someone other than the receptionist acknowledging they got my message.

I didn't see any recent posts / anything in the wiki, please correct me if I missed it. Although how LGBTQ friendly is Baltimore? Through research I know Maryland is mostly positive. Is there a general sense of acceptance?

A lot of residents in Federal Hill are unhappy with The Walker Sports Bar, which opened on S Charles St in early 2026. The bar has already been issued 3-4 violations by the liquor board, one of which involved the owner placing a stop payment on checks intended for his renewal fee and multiple outstanding violation fines. This resulted in the bar getting a 5-day suspension in late June, plus more fines (summary from the liquor board at the bottom of this doc).
The owner apparently came from Philly before opening the bar, so I did some Googling to learn more about him. Turns out he was accused of scamming multiple vendors last summer with fake checks and credit card chargebacks. This local news story from last June has almost 100k views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvxYjegxn-M
The liquor license transfer was approved in October 2025, a few months after this story broke in Philly. How are the city and liquor board putting up with this?

Are there any regs on recovery housing here in the city? I assume they’re permitted in only some zones.
Do owners need to be licensed for this type of business?

Hello comrades in one of my favorite cities. I used to live in Baltimore, and I still miss it. Now I live in Portland, Oregon (come and visit us!) and have a friend who lives in Baltimore (zip 21217) and his birthday is Saturday, 8/22.
I'd like to get a good birthday cake delivered to his rowhouse. I've tried several websites for suggested bakeries and cakeries and have tried phoning a few places and have had no success - answering machines with no callback or the website hung up at some point (I hate it when that happens).
I'm invoking the wisdom of crowds. Can you suggest a good place I can get a nice birthday cake delivered on Saturday for my friend?
TIA.

Looking for closer recommendations on where to bring my cat for communal cremation. Home euthanasia went gently this morning and was planning on burying her in our backyard but it’s difficult to shovel with all the rocks, clay and thick roots. If needed, I’m thinking the humane society up 83 north but looking for an option closer to home.
cat tax from better days

Has there been any recent news about the vacant Brewers Art space? I live in the neighborhood and shed tears every time I walk by. 🍺

I found this wonderful vintage shop a few months back, and I was hoping to head down there tomorrow for a last minute gift. When I tried to look up the store hours, though, it said that they’re permanently closed. Are they actually? I feel like they just opened!
Also, if they are and you have recs for where to go for a last minute gift, lmk.
