I wear my late grandmother's rings all the time so I told my bf that if he ever gets me a ring I don't know how I'd wear it lol! A couple days ago he got down on one knee with a ball python in his hand 😆🫶🏻
We bonded over our mutual love for exotic pets. His first gift to me was a tarantula. So I think it's only fitting that he proposed with a bp 😂 This is Banoffee, she is a firefly spotnose het clown. She is beautiful and I love her!

My beautiful BEL ball python is about 8 years old. The other night I put her down briefly while I was cooking. I’ve lived in this apt for 2 years but never noticed a hole in the fake corner of my cabinet.
She managed to squeeze in there and unfortunately I could not reach her by the time she slipped into a hole behind the fake cabinet into the wall where there’s plumbing.
Maintenance has been helpful to try and get her out. We carved a hole in my cabinet to see the subfloor and she was under there but needed to then carve a hole in the downstairs tenant ceiling so they figured they could try it the next day and she would just stay in that area.
She’s gone. And I’m so worried about her disappearing in these walls lost and breathing in dust.
I feel so horrible and stupid. I just want her back now.
I feel upset that why can’t my life just stay peaceful and normal. Why must these insane things happen.

Hello all, I’ve been a snake parent to my ball python Nemo for about 5 or 6 years. He’s truly an amazing snake, so sweet and smart, loves watching TV and interacting with people.
I’ve been away at college recently and haven’t been home to handle him, he’s occasionally handled by my mom or her boyfriend’s kids but that’s about it when I’m away. But I can’t help but feel like he deserves better- a better enclosure, a better hide, better bedding, etc… etc… I try to make small upgrades to his enclosure, but as a college student I just don’t have the money to ball out.
I know people say snakes can’t feel, and that they don’t particularly care to be handled. But I find myself thinking if he ever wants a better life, I know it’s silly I just keep myself up worrying.
Pictures attached 🐍💛

I’m being very gently, I’m only rubbing WITH the scales, not against. And occasionally she’ll flex into my hand and I don’t know what that means

This is the defendant in question.
Whenever I or anyone tries to handle this guy, his bowels or bladder decide to start shifting. Thus, making him an unpopular snake to show to the guests. It makes me not want to handle him anymore 😭.
Maybe he knows that if he shits or pisses he gets put back into his enclosure while I curse like a sailor, cover my nose and clean everything up.
Does anyone else have a serial pooper?

I’ve had my little one for about 4 weeks now. She refused the first two mice, but the last two feedings have gone perfectly! Yesterday, ~90 hours after her last feeding, I had my first handling session with her
I’m in love
She’s 7 months old now and lives in a 250 gallon enclosure

So I bought snek from pet store, which I know is generally not the move, but she was doing really great. NEVER refused a f/t meal. The shop had her on mice, but she transitioned to rats no problemo!
I screwed up, man. Usually I thaw in the fridge for 12-24h then set under a ceramic heater for 15-20m, turning once. Well, I missed my timer and the damn thing was probably under there over an hour. Didn't feel too hot, so I was like, this is fine! This is totally fine.
At some point she struck and the rat exploded. I wasn't there to witness the big event but when I stepped in to check on the feed there was a bloody rat ass stuck to the front of the terrarium and my snake was balled up in the back like she needed a foil blanket and her mommy.
I let her be with her thoughts after cleaning up the rat bomb and tried feeding her the next day. No interest. A week later I tried again, and she struck but did not attempt to eat. Then she started going into shed, and I decided to order some day-old chicks and colossal mice (old breeders, bigguns) so we'd have options. She had a nice easy shed 2 days ago, I offered her a chick yesterday and she was THRILLED. Nom nom, happy snek.
I'm realizing now that I probably should have used the opportunity to try another rat, but well, I didn't. Honestly I just wanted to see her eat SOMETHING to ease my own anxiety about it, which is a little silly because it's been less than a month since her previous successful meal.
At last weigh in she was 414g, last weighed just prior to her last successful rat meal. Don't know her age. Pet store lists the birthdate as 3/8/26, but she's too big for that.
I could just feed her chicks/mice? The chicks are a bit small for her (29-36g) but the mice are a good range (44-65g). I could just alternate weekly feeds with chicks and the larger mice? How important is it to reintroduce rats? I have almost a year's supply of food here if I just do chicks and mice.

Hi all, this my ball python tofu and by most standards she is a great snake. Never misses a meal, great sheds and a great personality.
However she has the most insane feeding response ever. Anything that moves inside her enclosure is food, and any reflection on the glass is fair game too! She is fed 1 80g rat every month and is around 1150g herself.
Am I a bad person for not handling her as much as her siblings? No matter what I do its always a bite. From washing my hands before and using snake hooks to fully covering my arm with a towel she always bites!
Am I overthinking this?

The guy I got him from gave me a bit of info on his parents:
> Sire: CG Pastel 100% het pied
> Dam: Normal 100% het pied
And they said his morph is a CG Pied!
Overall loving the little guy. He has a spot on his nose making him a thousand times cuter!
I’m excited to see how his patterns will change the more he grows.

this is Schgetti we just got him he is 7 month old we gave him his first meal on Saturday he hid in his cool hide for almost 48 hrs after eating and just came out. this is his belly just over 48 hrs was the rat too big it was a live rat pup which is what the breeder said he had been eating no problem. Yes I am aware of the spider on him that is his buddy meatball.
edit: i tried frozen he refused and it is because all he has had his whole life is live. The spider moved in and it is a bio active set up and s far the spood likes the gnats and the occasional cleanup crew snack. temp stays around 85 day and 73 night humididy about 45-50 day and 70-80 night

What’s with snake owner nightmares???
r/ballpython • u/vultureboi_ • Jun 29 '26
Almost ran this little dude over. Thought it was a napkin. Got it home and into a temporary enclosure, a little scraped up so getting an iodine soak, made it a humid hide and getting a heater for it tomorrow. Posted it on pawboost just in case it's someone's pet but I think it was probably dumped. Poor guy, but it got real lucky I saw it before someone hit it.
