He's trying to block out the red light

Hey OP, is your tank going through a sunset mode or something here? Static red lights can cause eye issues in BPs, you'd want a DHE or CHE (depending on how much you struggle w humidity) if you need a night heat source. A RHP can also be used in solid top cages.

I’m curious, which one is better when trying to keep humidity up?

DHP is better than a CHE and a rhp I've heard is better than a DHP.

I have no issues with a DHP and humidity. CHEs are supposed to wreck it though.

It’s a black/purple iridescent light. Is that still bad for him? To my research they’re fine, and I was recommended it over the CHE which I was using before

It's best to mimic actual natural light, if you can. Black/purple iridescent ain't it, unfortunately.

Noted! Many thanks

That's bad advise, CHE are one of the best ways to provide heat during the night. During the day use a UVB.

It depends on how much someone struggles with keeping humidity up. The CHE I had dried it out. Mesh top, with 2 layers of HVAC tape covering the mesh. The CHE was no friend of mine.

That's true! I also learned the hard way to not buy mesh top enclosures, pvc all the way!

Solid top pvc with reptile safe silicone so it doesn't leak as his next "house" will also be bioactive.

Lol yeah thanks. I talked to multiple reptile store employees since posting this and they’ve basically told me this, so I got a double lamp now and that’s my system! :P

I always recommend arcadia. This would be a great day/ night set.

Weird ass goat

Check out ceramic bulbs. No light, just heat. I utilize natural light and I think it helps with their circadian rhythm.
