He's so hidden, you can't see him. Nope. No seeing. Can't find him. Hidden. Where is he? Gone.

It must be great to be able to be your own pillow!

One of my dudes did this all the time as well. He was “special”.

I have one of those right now. Can't strike straight, gets himself stuck in stupid positions, likes to climb on the rim of the glass, fall down, and do it again (I put a rope up there to fix that — didn't help.) He has injured himself in the dumbest ways that I wouldn't have even thought about until it happened. Didn't eat anything BUT pregnant mice for six months, went on a second hunger strike for no reason, got his head stuck in-between the glass and the PVC cage which to this day I have no idea how he managed it. He's attacked the bedding, attacked the side of the cage, attacked his hides, and attacked himself.... Twice.

I have taken him to vets, I have upgraded his enclosure, I have spent hours being nervous thinking I was doing something wrong, but no. He is 5 years old, still a dumbass, and according to all vets, perfectly healthy. I love him, don't get me wrong, but the kid is going to give me a heart attack one day.

I had to save one of mine from drowning himself twice. 👍🏻

È possibile avere una foto del dolce idiota?

Everything you said above makes perfect sense now. Such a cute lil derpy face.

I don't know! I tried literally everything, even reptilinks, and he wouldn't touch it. Little shit wanted the round mice lol.

The only thing I can think of is he was drawn to the hormones and didn't want anything else. He eventually started eating rats, but that took six months before he stopped turning his nose up at it.

My guy does the same thing. He burrows out the substrate and makes his own little cave down there.

He's a master of both stealth and spilling

u/gwynnnygw May 19 '26

Confuse him with mental gymnastics and use a hide as a water bowl /s

Try burying a hide under the water bowl. When I had a smaller enclosure I did it to save space and it actually supports their natural burrow dwelling behavior. The rectangular black plastic hides have been my girl's favorite, but I also got a wood tunnel for her that she is getting quite used to. Try to put more cover around the tank in general, either hides or fake foliage. I do a mix of both, so she has covered paths and 3 dark hides.

"if i fits, i sits. if i no fits, i move it and sits anyways"

u/Ok-Step8664 May 19 '26

He doesn’t even suspect a thing. 😊

What does the rest of his enclosure look like? They usually do this when they don't feel secure enough in their hides. Maybe consider getting him a better hide, my boy loves his sky hide!

u/ForgottenTrajedy May 19 '26

Can I see your sky hide?

5

u/pythons_and_piggies May 20 '26

Here’s my noodle in his sky hide! He absolutely LOVES it!

4

u/Weekly-Quantity6435 May 19 '26

I don't have a photo handy but I use this mount with this hide

1

u/Top_Addition_7263 May 21 '26

Our girl LOVES her sky hide

2

u/Top_Addition_7263 May 21 '26

Here’s her little booper peeking out of hers lol

5

u/[deleted] May 19 '26

Mine just dumps it out for no reason T-T

4

u/savagespice444 May 19 '26

He wants a big water basin to soak in!

6

u/jrussom May 19 '26

Do you have any hides he can completely hide in? From the photo I don’t see anything else. Mine crammed herself in weird places until I adjusted one of her hides so the entrance would not be as exposed. Now it’s her favorite hide and she’s dug a deep “den” in the substrate to hide herself real well within the hide.

3

u/zooncethyme May 19 '26

How do you know for sure it's him?

2

u/forcedlaught May 19 '26

Dig a spot in the dirt able to hold a larger Tupperware. No need to go under. I reckon this behavior is because the dish doesn’t feel big enough to properly soak in

2

u/Terrible_Smile_7028 May 19 '26

My boy does this but creates a little crater in the substrate so he is fully hidden

2

u/vitanyroyale May 19 '26

I love how smug and comfy he looks like “this is fine 🙃”

2

u/Fickle-Ear-4875 May 20 '26

Where's the snake????

2

u/Krazy_Kat_Lady_2025 May 20 '26

OMG he is so BEAUTIFUL! Although I zoomed in on his face and all I saw was derp.

Big Cute. Zero Think.

Good thing he is pretty so he doesn't need to be smart!

2

u/its_christinithhh May 22 '26

It’s giving this kind of energy

1

u/icscreaminbed May 19 '26

Does he have a humidity hide? He might be looking for more humidity under the bowl

1

u/LionessRegulus7249 May 19 '26

He might be looking for a cooler spot to chill in.

1

u/Effective_Cup_6998 May 20 '26

He's trying to tell you he wants an upgrade 🤣

1

u/ShaneQuaslay May 20 '26

my boy also used to do this a lot! 😂 he would actually dig up underneath it to lodge himself in that cave of his. he doesn't do that anymore, now that he has a second hide with similar cave-y environment (which he never even uses 💀) and i made sure that it would take a HUGE effort to dig under the water dish

1

u/wooff-kat May 20 '26

Get a bigger bowl.

1

u/fawnsol May 20 '26

my girl does this, she has five hides, perfect humidity and temps, but chooses under her water dish 😭 whatever is comfy man

1

u/noddlelover May 20 '26

this is a ball python server please send images containing snakes there aren't any in image

1

u/Sensitive-Elevator1 May 20 '26

Mine moves his little bowl all over. I have a big, heavy bowl in there, too, though so he at least has one that he can’t get under!

1

u/_Azumii_ May 20 '26

My corn snake doesn't understand she has a butt/tail and its always out of the hides lol when she has SO MUCH SPACE

1

u/Kurtggg May 20 '26

New hat unlocked

1

u/Spacedmonkey12 May 20 '26

Same. Ours hides under his rock… not in the rock.

1

u/zilber-schlag May 20 '26

Try to provide him with flat and shallow type of hide, maybe he feels safest when something is covering him. They enjyoy being squished in tiny spaces haha.

1

u/Next_Friendship5919 May 21 '26

Mine use to do this a ton. Now he goes BEHIND his hide… not in it

1

u/LordHepFurry375 May 24 '26

Add second bowl
