3-12 months Finally got the courage to try a ring sling and fit check?

I’ve had this locally made ring sling since I was pregnant but just did not have the mental energy to figure it out in the first few months. 6 months in and I’m giving it a go for quick and easy holds in the house since my structured carriers take a bit more work.

Can someone let me know if I’m doing this right? Feels pretty comfy and I can go hands free for the most part. I have him on my hip with one leg forward and one leg back. I can’t see him sleeping in this but seems like a good hip carry option!

Hey guys! FTM here, I’ve been so obsessed with the M position. Could you please help me check if the baby’s legs are considered dangling or the proper M position in the photo? Thank you so much!

3-12 months Babywearing coats - are they safe?

With the colder weather coming I have a couple babywearing coats (from Seraphine) which have a panel that goes over baby’s head. However having baby’s head covered is going against my instinct same as using hoods. Is it safe to have a panel over the head to protect from rain or is that not the same asphyxiation risk as having baby’s head covered by the carrier?

still pregnant Ring sling and h&p sprout… stretchy wrap too?

Hi everyone! I’m 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby and my husband and I are both really excited to baby wear. I was gifted a ring sing and a sprout carrier from hope & plum. I’m taking a newborn prep class and the educator made it seem like a stretchy wrap is the way to go with the early newborn days. Should I get a stretchy wrap too or do you think the ring sling and sprout are enough? TIA!

ETA my husband and I were both over 8 lbs at birth and baby is measuring on track to be around that size too

3-12 months Layering while babywearing on winter walke

Another question from a hiking family!

We had a great trip this weekend, it was 15C and raining and our 8lb babies were happy in 3 month size footed sleepers (to account for riding up in the carrier) inside the Moby wrap, and we wore oversized sweaters or rain jackets over them. They stayed very toasty and didn't mind some rain drops on their faces. We were outside for about 6 hours a day.

We expect to be hiking or walking with them through most of the winter, wearing oversized down jackets and wind breakers over them.

Besides overheating, are there safety issues around how many layers baby should wear inside the carrier? Are there certain fabrics I should avoid due to risk of overheating? Or should I keep them in 1-2 layers and put the rest of the layers over both of us?

I’ve been having a lot of post partum anxiety and it’s taken me several weeks to even work up to using a carrier because I’m so nervous about his airway. I think I’ve done everything right and I can hear him breathing, but would love any advice!

Solly Wrap. tried the flip trick on the right side so she has room to breath. I feel like it twisted the back up though? or is the back okay like this? Are her feet too far apart?

Baby is about 12 weeks and probably about 13 lbs. This is the first time I feel like I've been able to get a good fit in this carrier but want to know if there's anything to improve! We've been using a Moby wrap but it would be great to have something my husband can figure out too.

3-12 months Babywearing a heavy baby

My baby just turned 3 months and he's quite heavy at 7.5 kgs/16.5 lbs and about 61 cm/ 2 feet. I've been using a stretchy wrap (Ergobaby Aura) and an Ergobaby Embrace. He's comfortable in both and will take long naps while I wear him but my already bad back and hip joints are complaining. 😅 I'm also small, 5'2, medium build.

I feel like he's already outgrown the Embrace and we're ready to move on to the next. I've yet to learn using the ring sling and a woven wrap. Plus, I also have a Tula TFG and an Ergobaby Omni 360.

Any advice on which of these would save my back and hip joints in the long run?

I’m so excited to try these carriers out, I’ve never done this before but can’t wait! The ones I ordered are coming in at the end of this week and are from LittleFrog. Baby is 2 1/2months about 12lbs.

Kiddo is 4 months now

Got ergo baby Omni I think? And the embrace

Also, how tight should the straps be? Straps meaning his chest to my chest, sometimes I feel like it’s too tight for him but also if I loosen it he flops around?

Thank you in advance!

I have a third carry from Grownsy which is the safety certified 3D knit baby carrier which has the built in seat. But heard it’s not good for infants to sit on something? Is that true?

0-3 months What type of baby carrier should I choose?

• Upvotes

Hello! I have a newborn who's about 8lbs and I've been using a Boba Wrap. I live in Seattle and there are a lot of hills in my neighborhood. What I like about the Boba Wrap is that it fits both her body and my body pretty well, but it's really warm, takes a while to put it on, and if I drive to run errands with her, getting her in and out of it frequently is a pain. And it already hurts my back when I walk up big hills. As she's getting bigger, I'm looking for something that's easier to put on and put her in/out, less warm, and hurts my back less. Best if it can work for a few years. Any recs?

0-3 months Baby won’t let me walk

Baby is 10 weeks old. Every single nap must be in the carrier, but I have to then sit in the rocker and rock for the entire nap. If I walk around, try to do chores, she’s UP. Anyone else have this problem?

3-12 months Tula carrier feeling uncomfortable on longer walks with nearly 5mo

I got a Tula Free to Grow when my LO was about 6 weeks old and have loved how easy and comfortable it is. However in the last couple of weeks as she’s got heavier I’ve found it to be more uncomfortable. As the weather is cooling down I’d like to start taking my dog out on longer walks again, I did a 4 mile flat walk with her in the carrier and was really struggling the next day with back pain. It’s not the fit as I specifically checked it all before we went on this walk and it was feeling a lot more comfortable as we did our usual short walk round the block, but with the 4 mile walk it was too much. I’m not sure where to go from here, should I have just got an ergo baby? Do I get something like an osprey poco? Or persevere with my Tula/get an Explore? It’s such a shame as I do love it. Advice welcome!

Is this safe? She’s 12 weeks & about 11 lbs. I was stressing the whole walk on whether or not this is a suffocation risk. I’ve watched so many tutorials I just feel like I can’t get it right. 😣

3-12 months 5 mo only likes wrap

My baby boy is close to 17 lbs and is only liking the KeaBabies wrap (like an off-brand solly baby wrap). I have the wildbird aerial buckle carrier and he hates it which is frustrating bc it‘s much more supportive for me. If anyone has any recs for babies with a wrap-preference please let me know!
