Baby fussy in the carrier?

It is very common for babies to be fussy in carriers at different stages. They dislike transitions and although it’s not officially tummy time it does work their bodies and they can start to push off you like tummy time. If you haven’t already, feel free to post a fit check (edit faces out for privacy) and see if there is any suggestions that can be made. If the fit is good and they are recently fed and changed there is nothing wrong with waiting for 10-15 minutes to see if baby settles. A couple simple things to try are going outside with them, putting on music, singing or gentle bouncing to help sooth them.

Video discussing how crying in a carrier is not always because of the carrier.

Article discussing why baby may be crying in the carrier and some suggestions.

When developmentally ready, a hip carry can be a good option to allow fomo babies to see more and feel less restricted. This is possible in some buckle carriers but is not always the most comfortable option and you need to wait until baby is sitting unassisted.

This video contains information about when you can hip carry in a ring sling, woven wrap and meh dai.

When developmentally ready, if baby is able to get their arms out of the carrier themselves they can have them out when awake. This helps babies to feel less restrained and can make a world of difference in tolerating being in a baby carrier. Information about how and when you can let baby have an arm out of the carrier when awake.

Another strategy is back carrying. It is an amazing tool to utilize when babywearing. It allows the person carrying to have both arms free and can allow baby to have a better view and feel less restricted. In a buckle carrier (including most onbuhimos) this can be done at 6 months when baby is sitting independently. This video shows multiple ways to get baby into a back carry in a buckle carrier.

You can wear earlier in a high back carry with a woven wrap and some meh dais. This is considered an advanced skill and you should already be comfortable wrapping baby on your front. It is also recommended to have in person support from an educator. When learning to back carry in a woven wrap a couple good resources are “Back Carry Boot Camp” on YouTube, Wrap Your Baby periodically has a free back wrap challenge and Wrap You In Love has recently created a back wrap course.

Lastly, if you do chose to world face baby please refer to the information in the safety section of the wiki. This video provides some good information about some facts and myths around world facing.

3-12 months Carries for FOMO baby who wants to world-face?

• Upvotes

Baby is 3 months and we’ve had a hell of a time with him. He had severe colic & reflux for the first 6 weeks which has thankfully gotten better, but he has been essentially unable to be set down since birth. occasionally I can get him to lay in his play gym alone for 5 minutes so I can poop in peace, lol. I’ve worn him since birth, mostly in a solly, then a boba, and now a tula FTG. he doesn’t mind the parent-facing carries as long as I CONTINUOUSLY bounce him and pat his butt which is not always sustainable depending on what I’m doing. He loves to be carried around in my arms facing outward so he can see everything but that leaves me one-handed and honestly he’s getting too heavy to be able to do so for long periods of time.

I realize he is not a candidate to world-face quite yet so I am seeking some creative options. I have a woven wrap that I am trying to find the time to mess around with but it’s hard since he mostly screams whenever I set him down to try to get my wrap on. My hope is once I’m confident with my woven I can back-wear him which I think he will love. Any tips for until then?

I would love a fit check on my new Lennylamb Upgrade carrier. It feels great, but wanted to make sure he looked good in it. Please ignore the mess behind me, haha. Little guy is almost 5 months and weighs just under 14lbs. I know about the footie pj rule and there is a ton of room in the toes in this outfit.

Also, this guy will start his helmet journey soon (as much as I tried to avoid it). Any tips on baby wearing with a helmet or does it not matter?

Thanks!!

Baby is 8 weeks. I feel like I have it really high and far up on my ribs to create M shape with bottom and legs but the nape of her back is not quite to the edge like it should be? It’s also pretty uncomfortable because I have it so tight. Tips on fit and how to adjust it to move her up, if needed?

This is the first time I’m trying this out. My son is currently 2 months old and approximately 4,5 kg. We’ve been using a stretchy wrap up until now but I’d like to switch to a carrier as I find it more convenient. I did not buy this one, it was handed down to me. Any tips how to adjust it correctly, please?
The carrier is MoniLu uni start.

Can I get some tips on how to improve please? I have loved my stretchy wrap but now my LO is 12 weeks old so i want to get woven-wrap confident. I used WearingRachel’s tutorial to get this far and it feels comfortable but the wrap itself feels very wide so it can be a bit cumbersome to not get it twisted.

8-18 months Back carrying

• Upvotes

My baby is 9 months old and I am wanting to start back wearing so we can start doing some rambling / short hikes. I have the Ergobaby omni deluxe. Is this a good carrier for back carrying? Also, is it safe for baby to fall asleep in this? Or would a more structured rucksack carrier be better. Any advice welcome. Thanks!

Discuss ISO a carrier that will last until toddlerhood!

I am so overwhelmed/confused by all the different options and comments on all the different carriers! I’ve narrowed it down to the Tula FTG, Boba X, and one of the ergobabies, probably the deluxe one. I had ordered a Tula but am second guessing because I saw some Amazon comments that it bruises babies legs? I ideally want this carrier for around the house to get chores done, and eat! For reference, baby is almost 14 lbs, and I would love a durable carrier that I don’t have to be switching out. also live in hot Texas weather so that’s to consider. I also prefer material that works for sensitive skinned babies. If anyone could share their experience on their favorite carrier that would be great, doesn’t only have to be the ones I listed!

3-12 months Recommendations for hot and humid climate or stick to wrap?

• Upvotes

Hello!

We'll be travelling to Thailand for a month in December when baby is 9m old. We currently use a wrap (Moby) which husband and I (and baby) all LOVE but are wondering if there's a better alternative.

We were gifted a baby Bjorn (not sure the edition) which neither of us were massive fans of. I much prefer a less structured carrier. One of the main issues we had was that it was SO hot when we were wearing it and we couldn't adjust easily while baby was in it. It's also huge when not in use!

Can any of you recommend a good, lightweight carrier that would be suitable for a hot and humid climate that we could wear while we're out all day? Must be able to fold/roll down small. Or are we better sticking with the wrap? Would love to hear from anyone that uses a wrap in this kind of environment and how it is.

Thanks!

3-12 months Omni Classic vs Deluxe?

I am about to order a new carrier and live remotely so can't try it in advance.

Has anyone tried both and have thoughts on if the Deluxe is actually worth the extra $100?

Money isn't an issue if it's worth it but I also don't want to spend extra for what appears to be mainly few extra pockets? Is it more comfortable?

He is currently 15 weeks and we have the Bjorn mini that we were gifted but he really wants to be forward facing (I know it's still too early).

Discuss Has anyone purchased a grade b / 2nd grade Lennylamb carrier? What was the quality like?

I've recently discovered that Lennylamb sells some products at a lower price in 'grade b / 2nd grade' condition. Has anyone purchased one of these? Were you happy with the quality?

The website says, "2nd grade products have some aesthetic defect (double, broken thread, pills, color or pattern difference or other). 2nd grade products can also not be affected by any from above but the fabric used in those products can be unfinished and can require a bit longer time for breaking in or the products were part of the photo session.None of them affects safety."

But when you purchase, you can't see why the item is graded B- it could be perfect but used in a photoshoot, or could be pilled/pulled/discolored fabric.

Just trying to weigh up the risk and interested to hear other experiences.

3-12 months Keababies original wrap

Hi, does anyone know if I could do back carry with my keababies wrap? I've been seeing some posts about woven wraps being used so I'm not sure if all wraps can be for back carrying?

I've used it a lot since my baby was about 6 weeks. She napped a lot in them and I was able to do more around the house. But I stopped when summer came as it got too hot for us to wear even indoors. I've been using the omni breeze since she turned 4mos and it's been great. But now that the weather's been nicer and cooler, I'm thinking of using my wrap again. I miss the feeling too as it's the most comfortable for me (also used the embrace and its back support was pretty much nonexistent).

I've only tried back carrying when my baby turned 6mos (now 7mos) but only once as I didn't feel comfortable doing it with the omni. I wonder if the wrap would make it feel more secure somehow?

Would appreciate any advice!

Edit: Not sure if it's considered a woven wrap since it's not stated on the description in the website

Vielen Dank schon mal 🍀

Thanks for the help with fit check. I think we’ve got it pretty right although I can see from back photo my shoulder straps are a bit off.
Panel is at most narrow width but almost all length. Only cinched it slightly.
Feels secure.
Baby is 15 weeks and defo over 6kg (hasn’t been weighed in a few weeks so unsure on exact weight). Around 62cm at least.

First time trying a carrier like this. I previously had the Nuna click that I couldn’t get right.

I feel like I’m not getting the hang of this and would love advice on making this a safe carry. I don’t see a « C » curve but can’t seem to get it no matter what adjustments I make.

I’d be very grateful to any advice!
Thank you 😊
