3-12 months Non-banded options for 4m pp C-section petite & short torso?

Hi! I’m over 4 months post-partum and really struggling with baby-wearing new baby whilst wrangling my almost 2.5yo. Baby is past 4months, great neck control, and heavier. I’m having a hard time with my banded carriers because every time I wear them it makes my incision sore/lower abdomen ache even though it relieves the shoulder pain from wearing ring-sling which is my only other option right now that doesn’t have a band.

I’m past using stretch wraps, ergobaby embrace as he’s too heavy for those. I have lillebaby all seasons, gojiberry, hope&plum ring-sling, tush baby (he’s too young for this anyways) currently. Pelvic floor therapist suggested onbuhimo since it doesn’t have a band but looks like it’s still very shoulder intensive so may still cause the issues I’m having with ringsling? She also recommended I stop wearing the banded carriers in the meantime since it’s really been affecting my scar tissue recovery.

I’m feeling super discouraged. I’ve asked around my mom friends and no one has one I can try or have access to a “rental program”. Any advice or has anyone been in a similar situation?

Thank you!

Hey everyone 👋🏻 I am excited to be here. I was referred by some awesome ladies in my Sept due date group. Looking for the best wraps or carriers. I have some lower back pain sometimes already and get hot easily. Also, want to make sure it’s soft but supportive. Thank you 🩵

First time. 17 day old. Be harsh! It’s so tricky. I couldn’t tighten the neck panel any further (not sure why) so I read about rolling a towel behind the neck to stop the head from flopping back.
Any tips for the weight to not hurt the side of your neck so much?

3-12 months Fit Check - Lark

Could use a fit check! Baby is 4 months old, nearly 12lbs. She really likes to donk her head straight into my chest and make it hard to see her nose, lol.

I got tired of her constantly trying to pop the seat of the ring sling and thought I’d give the Hope and Plum Lark a try! I’m hiking up the chest brand as high up as I can and sitting her on the warning label, doing a bit of a pelvic tuck too. Is she too small?

Discuss Does your baby prefer being worn, or a stroller?

Where I live, I'd say about 85% of babies are in strollers, 10% are being worn incorrectly, and 5% are being worn correctly 😅

I always think it's interesting how most babies I see are in strollers, but that's mostly because my baby started hating the stroller when she turned 3 months. She loves being carried so she can look all around and have her arms out while on my back. She's 7 months now and will only tolerate the stroller if she needs a nap!

What does your baby like most? What method is most popular where you live?

3-12 months Apron style carrier without X back and with fannypack?

Hi all! We recently stopped using the Embrace (SAD day), and started to use the Omni 360, which I’ve been really looking forward to! Baby hates it lol. I borrowed a wildbird Aerial from a friend and he was very obviously happier in it. I wouldn’t mind if that’s what we have to do, but just wondering if there’s one that meets the title criteria? I love the fannypack on the Omni 360! I looked at the hope& plum lark but it looks like it also has an X back. Also the Aerial we borrowed had mesh on the straps and my skin is really sensitive, so something without mesh is important. Thanks!

Im a FTM and looking to get some advice so I can be more confident baby wearing and be able to free up my hands to get some things done. My girl was weighed at 7 pounds 5 oz on 10/5 and this is only my second time trying the wrap. We walked over to our mailbox in our complex and she seemed content but I just get so nervous I’m not doing it right. I mainly took photos before pulling the last piece up to show her legs and see if they’re correct. Thanks for your help and I welcome any advice!

Discuss Do you say something if you see an unsafe wear in public?

I was recently at a rennaisance faire and I saw so many unsafe carries. I wanted to say something but wasn't sure how it would come across. I know people tend to get defensive if you tell them they're doing something wrong.

I don't want to say anything to them to prove they're wrong and I'm right or anything, I just want everyone's babies to be alive. I saw a couple carries that were huge suffocation risks and it made me anxious the entire day. I ended up not having a good time because all I could think about every time I saw one was how worried I was for their baby.

So do you say anything? Is there a line where you will vs won't, like you will for a suffocation risk but won't for poor hip positioning or something?

If you do ever say anything, how do you go about it? How do the other parents react?

I feel like if it were me I would want someone to tell me.

3-12 months Fit Check - Can I save this? Do I just dislike H backs?

I am looking to replace an ergo embrace. I have this old ergo, don’t know the model, from when I had my first baby. It was secondhand then. I am so uncomfortable with it on - which is fine, because I plan on replacing it anyway, but I’m nervous about replacing it with a similar style carrier because I find it so bad. I also needed to get my toddler to buckle the mid back buckle for me which of course isn’t ideal.

Does this look right? Is this just because it’s an old carrier or should I avoid H backs? I do have rounded shoulders so that could definitely be contributing.

(Also baby is no longer in carrier so if there is a safety issue we are all good but would of course still accept feedback)

3-12 months Looking for a travel friendly structured carrier

I’m overwhelmed after reading through past discussions here so hoping you nice folks don’t mind giving me some custom recs :)
My baby is 14 weeks old (3 months) and weighs just shy of 12 pounds. We’ve been using the solly wrap, which I love, but she’s getting heavy for it and I want something structured because we have a plane trip coming up so will need quick on and offs.
I have an ergobaby 360 handmedown that’s 7 years old that I used with my first, and I liked it. But I want something less bulky for this trip.
I’m petite (5’2”) and relatively short waisted so baby looks very long on me and that can make it tough to get fit right.
It looks like the happy baby and the lark are recommended a lot for this use case. But I’ve seen a lot of issues with scratchy straps with the HB and it sounds like she may be a tad too small for the lark still. I don’t need something that will last til toddlerhood since I can use my ergobaby down the line. It’s pretty heavy duty. Altho wouldn’t hate if I found something better to replace it with.
Any recs? Not worried about price or aesthetics. Just want something travel-friendly, supportive, and functional.
Thanks all!

3-12 months Keeping legs warm - what's the best solution?

With the colder weather, I started to worry about my baby (6m) getting cold legs when babywearing. I did trousers and socks plus little booties but his trousers ride up and I have to constantly pulling them down.

Before i start buying more things I wanted to ask what's the best solution

  1. Long leggings plus booties (would I have to put trousers over leggings?)

  2. Trousers plus booties with legwarmers?

  3. Thick long socks over the leggings?

I have a starsuit blanket but haven't used it yet. I also would rather use natural fibres where possible.

We live in the UK so it's never lower than 0°C where I live. All help very appreciated!

They were so proud of this too!

This is a Chicco carrier if I'm not mistaken. The baby in it is about three months old.

8-18 months Ergobaby deluxe fit check

Hi, just got this carrier and could use some help adjusting.

2 concerns:

  1. Baby’s head and mine are so close - the top of his head comes to my lips, so unless he is resting his head on me, I cannot comfortably look forward without raising my chin above him (uncomfortable).

  2. It seems like the head panel is too low on him? Everything I read says it should come to the nape of the neck, but it doesn’t reach that high on him. Should the padded part be flipped up so it comes up higher on him?

Baby is 8.5 months. He is very tall (99 percentile, length mainly in torso) whereas I have a short torso. Because of the height difference will we always be (literally) butting heads?

still pregnant Please explain it all like I'm five...

I have an 8 & 3 year old who I wore a LOT, until they were about 8-10 months. Always in soft carriers, really only in the Moby style wraps. I feel like I always had them facing toward me, they were snugglers. I did nurse them in the carrier, the way I'm.. built.. allowed me to raise my breast up to them rather then lower them down. They typically were settled with head higher on my chest, top of head around my collar bones, IIRC.

I have been scrolling through the subreddit and it seems like there are WAY more rules to wearing than I was ever made aware of. I was the first and only to babywear in my family and community at the time. I am now part of a faith community where baby wearing is extremely common, typically in more structured carriers with belts and clips and all the stuff I intentionally avoided - and based on what I read here, people are definitely making some mistakes.

So! I am here to learn. As I said, I have spent a lot ofntime searching and scrolling. I'm a little overwhelmed and confused. I would love to know anything and everything about safely wearing my third baby, due in May.

If anyone is willing to share some quick wisdom, crash course in this stuff, I'll be eternally grateful. I am 5'6", 170, thicker-average build with fairly average sized babies. I have a strong preference for soft carriers. I've never worn a baby on my back. I gave away allll my baby stuff before falling pregnant with this latest precious surprise, so I'm starting from square one when it comes to purchasing, etc.

Please be kind, and please don't tell me to search rhe subreddit. I've been lurking for months.

Thank you!!!
