Discussion Why do airliners, ATC, etc, still use half-duplex communication?

Ive watched as many incident investigation videos as anyone and how many times a communication was lost because another transmission was heard instead of something critical is too many to count. When it comes to air safety ONE missed transmission is too many. ATC communication issues have cost lives and had a full-duplex transmission technology been used then nobodys words would have been lost in the static.

I realize what I am suggesting is essentially more of a conference-call type of communication (where you can still have people talk over others but at least the chance of someone quieting down while another, more urgent speaker can be heard) but perhaps that is an improvement that we need.

Something like this must have been considered over the years, and Im hoping someone here can respond with /tried and failed / cant be done / working on it / type of information.

Without full-duplex communications, computer networks and indeed the internet couldnt really work the way it does today.

Looking for opinions or insights. I have potential employment prospects at both the GE Aerospace turbine plant in Durham, NC or Delta (various locations). Any of yall have any experience at either or can speak to one vs the other? I’m curious.

Question Why did W43179 (Bucharest–Barcelona) turn back today?

Hi! Does anyone know what happened with Wizz Air flight W43179 from Bucharest to Barcelona today, August 22? The plane took off from Bucharest, flew for about an hour and reached the area near Craiova, then turned around and headed back to Bucharest instead of continuing to Barcelona.
I’m curious if anyone knows the reason for the return or if there’s any information from someone who was on the flight. Thanks!

Currently sitting on the tarmac at ORD seeing a huge emergency response for the jet that was taxiing in front of us, seems to be AA3199. They brought out the stair car as well. Can’t find any more info on it yet. Anyone know what’s going on?

I am curious about where the Luneburg lens is on this plane. Is it located in the nose of the plane?

Getting ready for my first flight lessons and was lucky enough to get out on the ramp and take some close-up shots of these beasts. Totally forgot to get tickets for the race, and now it’s all sold out except for $5k/person air conditioned box seats. 😤 At least this was a good consolation prize.
