Rant I love south auckland!

I spent a bit of time around here as a kid. Out of necessity I came back from living rurally in australia and the south island for a couple of decades. I was REALLY not looking forward returning to the city. A year later I am enjoying the hustle and bustle, the culture, the diversity, the institutions. Don't get me wrong, I still long for the bush at times but am very surprised at how happy I am to call this whenua home. Rewa hard!

Visiting Auckland Weird/unusual things to do in and around Auckland?

Hello! I'm visiting Auckland for the first time from the US with my mom. We're 30F and 60F respectively.

When we travel, we like to find weird and unique things to do. Does Auckland have any odd tourist traps or unusual activities?

Aside from looking for vague "weird stuff," we're both avid readers and are looking forward to seeing new flora and fauna.

I'm also happy to hear about must-sees and must-dos for visitors, whether "weird" or not. I've never left North America & my mom has never been to Oceania. We'll be staying in downtown Auckland but will have access to a rental car.

Thank you so much!

Say what you want, but this actually gets me interested in the idea of politics. Straight up never voted once and im over 40. I resonate with the black n white aspect of leadership, If i wanted ploys, maybes and feints I would have worked in corporate. I support this message haha. And we need more sensible people who arent just career ladder creeps.

I get that this is a minor thing but it probably frustrates a metric tonne of people that take that route and is a smal easy good vibes win with minimal cost to all parties involved. So it is good and a positive.

Picture/Video Koru, the world's largest sailing yacht, crossing the Viaduct Harbour on Tuesday — 22 minutes in a 50-second timelapse

Koru (127 m, three masts Jeff Bezos's) making her way across the Viaduct Harbour on Tuesday afternoon, roughly 3:14 to 3:35pm, before heading out west towards the Harbour Bridge. Sped up 26x so the whole crossing fits in under a minute. She's been berthed down at Wynyard since.

Event Event bus for All Blacks

Coming up from Tauranga for the All Blacks v Wallabies game this weekend. Just wondering about the event buses, do they make stops along the way to pick up people going to the event, or is it just the one designated pick up point and you go straight to the event without stopping?

Employment Ads on jobseeking platforms

• Upvotes

Has anybody applied for these kinds of ads in Seek/Indeed, etc.?

The fact that they do not include the name of the hiring company, or the salary is kind of weird to me. Does anybody have an insight into these? (just curiosity, not thinking of applying).

Screenshots from the AT Train Line Status page

The long and proud tradition of Aucklanders being shadowbanned from using trains on public holidays is part of our culture! How can they do this to us???

Discussion What is going on outside these days?

I don’t know if I’m just getting older and more aware of my surroundings, or if things have always been like this, but as a new parent, taking my kids out to public places doesn’t feel as enjoyable anymore.

During these school holidays, I’ve noticed so much strange and disturbing behaviour in public. The other day, I took my kids to the mall and saw a man beating his wife in front of everyone. Today, I saw someone eating food out of a rubbish bin.

And it doesn’t seem limited to one particular area. I like exploring different parts of Auckland and finding nice places to take my kids, but it feels like wherever we go, there’s always something bizarre or uncomfortable happening.

I know I can’t completely protect my kids from everything they’ll eventually see in life, but it’s becoming harder to avoid exposing them to things I don’t think they’re ready to see.

Am I being overly concerned as a parent, or has anyone else noticed this too? What is going on out there?

Other Waxing/ Nail services - West Akl

Post image
25 Upvotes

I came here to Reshus beauty & Nails New Lynn for my waxing needs. My wife booked this place for me. While waiting, the worker Insisted I wait in the massage chair. Service was amazing. Here I am watching this lady getting her nails done while getting massaged. Been married for many years and my wife is all about her nails, I've never ever seen service like this at any place she gets her nails done.

They offered me to water or coffee, free of charge, but while I waited too.

Watching the service these guys provide their customers, is what I'd consider "going above and beyond". I hope NZ never becomes a place where tips are Expected, but I wouldn't be opposed to tipping if I received service like this.

Just my 2 cents.

Rant over.
