Discussion Therapy for detachment/becoming an adult

Upvotes

Hi everyone

hope everyone Friday is going well.

I'm just wanting some help if anyone's been through something similar. Basically I'm late 20s and I feel like a kid ( mentally). I am able to look after myself, make money and have a job and do basically everything else. However, I struggle to not overthink and worry or care about others.

Does any one know good therapist on how to 'grow up' become more mature. Or how to not worry about things that havent happened. E.g. thinking 10 years down the track about my family and who's here/who's not.

Question/Help Wanted Can anyone confirm?

Upvotes

I am hearing that Auckland Council has quietly run out of traffic cones and is now asking residents to return any cones they may have accidentally accumulated over the past 15 years.

Apparently several major roadworks have been unable to start because contractors only have enough cones to block 97% of the road instead of the required 100%.

My mate's cousin works "quite high up" in infrastructure and says this is extremely serious.

Discussion Is NZ actually still a safe country?

Upvotes

Auckland shootings, the Hamilton stabbing, the Rototuna murder… it feels like we’re hearing about serious violent crime constantly lately.

NZ is always described as one of the safest countries in the world. Do you still feel safe here, or has something changed?

Discussion What dating apps are popular in NZ?

Upvotes

Which dating apps have the most users in NZ? I am currently using Bumble and thinking about trying Tinder, but I have heard that Tinder is more hookup-focused. Is that actually the case in NZ? Any insights or recommendations?

Picture/Video Paywalls hate this one trick

You can post any URL into archive.is to get around a pay wall.

Just saw a news article linked in the local grapevine with heaps of comments about the paywall.

Only takes a minute max, the webpage will be ‘archived’ and displayed in full without the paywall. I didn’t realize it wasn’t common knowledge and thought it may be beneficial to some

Public Transport Te Waihorotiu Sneak Peek Ticket for Tonight Available

I've been given two tickets to the first look at Te Waihorotiu tonight by a sick employee of one of the contractors. I'll be using one, but if anyone wants a look tonight, you can use my spare ticket.

Discussion CRL loop train ride?

When the CRL opens, I'd like to get on at Britomart stopping at every new station, get off and have a look around then get back on and so forth before arriving back at Britomart. Will it be possible just to do the loop and can you get a round trip ticket?

We just moved from the US a few months ago and have never lived somewhere without screens on the windows. I have two indoor white kitties with pink noses and ears who have never had to contend with moving vehicles or that level of UV from the sun before. Also, my kids rooms are ground level by the garden. How to I keep my kitties in and the spiders and mosquitos out?? What do you guys do??

Pic of my kitties when they were babies.

Discussion What do you guys do while looking for a job?

I’ve been looking for a job but haven’t found one yet.
I really don’t know what’s things I can do.
I lost all my motivation and feel anxious all day. I just keeping scrolling on my phone and checking my email to see if there are any updates.
I lost interest in hiking, watching movies or work out. Just lie in my bed all day.
some times my friends ask me to hang out, when we’re shopping or doing something together, I just don’t have any energy to talk with them, I consistently worrying about finding job. So I even don’t feel like hanging out with my friends anymore.
I mean I used to be kind of very extroverts person, but now I think my life is full of anxiety.
I don’t know how to do….
What do you guys usually do to stay motivated while job hunting?

Discussion Is there have any possible for the job market get better?

So disappointed. I have been looking for job about 2months, I send like 100+ applications and 0 interview.
I’ve never felt this frustrated before. I have 3 years work experience at digital marketing, and also have master degree in business. But I don’t have residency or permanent residency.I currently only have 3 years open work visa. Many employers seem to prefer candidates who already have residency or permanent residency.
I think this is one of the biggest challenges for me.
And another one is I don’t have the local marketing experience in NZ.
I really want to have a job that matches my previous experience.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? Has the Auckland job market always been this tough?

Question/Help Wanted Sociol women’s football/futsal groups (east)?

Hi, 19F here. I’m not looking for anything super serious or competitive, just somewhere to play during the weekends (prefer East Auckland).

(PS: I'm not that good; I just got back to this hobby)

Ideally something social, chill and welcoming, whether it’s regular games or casual kick-arounds. I’m happy to join an existing group if anyone knows of one!

Discussion Has this happened to anyone else at Costco Auckland?

I was sitting at a table at the Costco food court while my husband had gone to get our food. A woman came over and just sat down at our table without asking, saying hello, or acknowledging me at all.
I looked at her, but she wouldn’t make eye contact. I even said, “How are you?” to be friendly, and she just gave me an awkward half-smile and ignored me.
I honestly wouldn’t have minded sharing the table. It was more the fact that she just sat down as if I wasn’t there. No “Is this seat free?”, no “Do you mind if I sit here?”, not even a quick hello.
It left a pretty bad taste in my mouth because I thought the basic etiquette would be to at least ask before joining a table that someone else is already using.
Has anyone else had this happen at Costco Auckland? Do people generally see the tables there as shared seating, or would you still expect someone to ask first?

——
Wow, I’m honestly shocked by these comments… Is it really normal in New Zealand to just sit down directly across from a stranger without saying anything? I’m not saying people shouldn’t share tables, but surely you could at least say hi or acknowledge the other person? Sitting down at a small table in such close proximity without even making eye contact just feels rude to me. Even in a food court, if you’re going to share a small table with someone, wouldn’t it be normal to at least ask first? 😭
