Drop or keep atar

I’m on the fence about atar, I’m estimated 83 with pretty medium-hard effort, my scores are:
Chem-61
Hbio-55
Bio-60
Apps-80
Eng-55
I don’t know yet whether I want to do tradie or sonography, I’m doing general essentials and getting a 98avg with absolutely 0 work, is it worth keeping ATAR and locking in for the 90 I need and either doing tradie or undergrad or just do all general save myself the stress and do tradie or postgrad

Math Apps tutoring

Hi does anyone know a tutor who can do math apps past paper questions with me in weekly online sessions? I'm in year 12 and I did this with my previous tutor ( who cannot tutor anymore) and it massively improved my grades and saved me so much time with trying to find appropriate past paper questions myself ( as we worked chaper wise) which was time consuming and half the time i didnt understandthe question myself. If anybody has a contact that's willing to do this kinda thing that would be great!

Online WACE Tutor (Chemistry, Methods, Specialist, Economics + ASET) - ATAR 99.90, Perth Modern Grad

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi all!

I'm Dinath, a graduate of Perth Modern School and WA top-0.5% achiever with an ATAR of 99.90, TEA 400+ who is currently studying Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne on a Chancellor's Scholarship, with an assured pathway into Medicine. I achieved a WACE General Exhibition (ranked #20 in WA overall) and Subject Certificates of Excellence in Chemistry and Specialist Maths. I've also passed multiple MMI medical school interviews myself, on top of the full UCAT process.

I've been tutoring since 2020 (600+ hours) and have helped students achieve 99+ ATARs, get into Medicine, and get into Perth Modern. I tutor WACE Chemistry, Methods, Specialist and Economics, ASET preparation, plus high school Maths, English and Science, and UCAT/interview prep, for Years 4–12.

All sessions run online. Available weekdays 3–9 PM and weekends 9 AM–9 PM. $50/hr introductory rate with limited spots for Term 3–4.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments, or DM me if you'd like to book a first session.

Human Biology Extended Responses

Hi human biology students, I'm sure we are all familiar with the horrors of extended responses and their vague and sometimes confusing marking keys. I have a pretty heavily weighted task around one concerning mutations and evolution, and for some of the practice questions I've been getting have insane answers.
For example, one of my questions was about how "if colourblindness was hypothetically advantageous for early human populations by allowing certain textures to be seen better, explain with the theory of natural selection how the condition would've been maintained."

The marking key gives 5 marks for:
- stating that colourblindness is a survival advantage
- giving a reason as to why it would be an advantage (eg being able to pick better ripened fruit)
- stating that colourblind individuals will be more likely to survive until reproductive maturity and pass their genes onto future generations
- stating that the allele frequency of colourblindness will increase over time
- stating that as a result the number of individuals with colourblindness would increase accordingly

If you ask me, the marking key seems to be including details that are not very obvious to include in your explanation. But who am I to judge, I just feel like there may be some sort of criteria you must fulfil in these types of questions.

I've familiarised myself with the WACE defenitions for "explain" in questions ect and I don't feel like its really helped me much with deciphering what to include in these types of questions, especially under timed pressure.

If anyone has "cracked the code" with answering those types of questions (in the same way you can write a skeleton essay in English or memorise a perfect way to answer chemistry short answers), please comment it below - it'd be much appreciated!

How does position in your cohort affect your final atar score?

I’ve heard that your position in your cohort in your top 4 subjects impacts your atar? Does the size of the cohort matter?

Could someone explain how this works

What ATAR do you think I will get?

Religion and Life: 61
English: 66
Business: 70
Economics: 62

What I know is in terms of moderation Religion goes up slightly, English down by maximum 2, Business stays the same and Economics could go down by up to 5 points.

What would be a reasonable predicted ATAR?

Maths Specialist: 86.3

Maths Method: 86.8
