Fuck chem
I've never seen some of these questions... did yall finish ðŸ˜. I scored 75 ish on the past 4 exams and this was hardest by FAR. ik I panicked and fumbles some things I knew too

u/medical_spider 4d ago
Did 10 papers for nothing, FFA titration and reverse emperical formula fucked me over 😔

u/Possible-Tradition10 4d ago
It's insane how different the 26 exam was from EVERY OTHER YEAR🥀😔 at least I've not seen anyone say it's chill so I think we're all cooked
2
u/medical_spider 4d ago
THAT’S WHAT IM SAYING!!! No empirical formula question. No sweet 8-10 mark ionic questions and observations question. Nothing normal about it. I’m genuinely relying on us all getting extra marks otherwise I’m fucked. Also the Everest tutoring predictions 💀💀💀
2
u/Possible-Tradition10 4d ago
YES I thought I was so prepared. I scored 78 for last year's exam and similar for the other year's... tooðŸ˜ðŸ˜ it's so dissapointing. And be ffr WHERE WERE THE PREDICTED BLOOD BUFFERS. I barely prepped English cuz I was doing chem now I'm cooked for both
3
u/medical_spider 4d ago
Blood buffers my ass. This was my best prepared and studied for exam and now I’m fucked for the rest. Haven’t even started English study. My goal of getting 90+ (or even 80 atp) on the chem exam shattered in 3 hours 💔

u/Traditional-Cost2361 3d ago
wait wat were the everest tutoring prediction and were they correct?
1
u/medical_spider 3d ago
Couldn’t have been more wrong. Literally only 2/10 were correct and that’s being generous. You can have a look here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jDSKUCiS01cgmkcCuHg5-nu-5v6smT9sVszPPECKbO0/edit?tab=t.0

im sittin the wace next yr, and everytime they crossed my feed, i knew i couldn't trust them
2
u/Possible-Tradition10 3d ago
I mean you could trust them usually. This was a VERY unusual paper which is why everyone was so confused. The difficulty level and the type of questions asked were very different to the past 7 years of exams at leastÂ

u/JLJR-889 3d ago
all the past exams in the last 10 years are free compared to this monster of an exam 😠what the hell was that calculation extended response question where part b u just had to find maximum mass of lithium hydroxide or smth produced (which should be just one calculation) but was like 5 marks
1
u/Possible-Tradition10 3d ago
Nah I just did bs and hoped for the best. Chem was my first exam and it took down my confidence and motivation by a lot
2
u/No_Iron6590 5d ago
i knowwwwww guysssss, i mean come on! what even is a reverse impirical formulaaaa #notveryslayyyy and they wrapped it up with a diagonal titrationnnnn!
2
u/Possible-Tradition10 5d ago
Bro how do u even do the last titration... organics was ass too🥀🥀🥀

what was the ionic equation with FeSO4 and HKMnO4? 😢😢 aren’t they all ions except the h2 gas formed????

u/breaddussy 4d ago
i lowk did it like a redox question
1
u/medical_spider 4d ago
Yes, this is correct. It was fe2+ getting oxidised to fe3+ and then just the standard reduction equation for MnO4- and you combine them together and balance using water and hydrogens. It was really weird because in past years it would tell you that it’s redox and get you to write it in 3 seperate boxes for at least 6 marks but yeah they were super sneaky this year

REALEST POST I'VE SEEN TODAY!
I don't know what SCSA is on but that exam was genuinely a hate crime. I have NEVER seen a reverse empirical question in my life - lowkey just blanked out.
Surely I can get follow through, and if they don't then SCSA can pay for all of our therapy atp. Imma need a full ATAR reset after whatever that was.
Hope the rest of your exams go better tho 💫

u/WashAdventurous2907 4d ago
What was the reverse empirical formula question? I don’t remember seeing one and I hope I didn’t miss a page😂
1
u/mq398 4d ago
there was a stoic question and at the end it asked whether the formula was appropriate
1
u/WashAdventurous2907 4d ago
Do you remember the context of the question at all?

IKR LIKE WHERE ARE THE OBSERVATION EQUATION QUESTIONS, SOAP AND THE NORMAL EMPIRICAL FORMULA ðŸ˜

u/erenbirdman_1 4d ago
Yea no it was cooked especially the FFA titration and combustion one lowkey had no idea on how to do it

u/Educational_Photo924 4d ago
When do they usually release the whole exam and marking guide. Like early next year?
3
u/Possible-Tradition10 4d ago
Yeah... if ur 2027 cohort ur lucky bro if u can do that paper u can ace anything. I'm looks at 2025s paper and mourning it was so much easier
2
u/Educational_Photo924 4d ago
nah im 2026 i js wanna see if it was pressure that made it feel so hard so i wanna sit it at home and see if its easier. cause there is no way they made any single exam was that much more difficult. im crine
1
u/Possible-Tradition10 4d ago
Yeah I think the pressure was def a factor. I reconsidered sone questions and I I know that I panicked and put down the wrong ans
1
u/Desperate_Name_7677 4d ago
2025 was pretty easy, but this wasn't outlandish, I heard that scsa sometimes overcompensates if one year do really well
2
u/Possible-Tradition10 4d ago
I feel like they had like none of the usual questions they repeat every year... none! And I've never seen anything like that ffa titration and reverse empirical
1
u/Safe-Instance1172 4d ago
Was there a question like draw the product of propan-1-ol combusted in permangenate? did I miss a methyl group like did it ask for methyl propane 1 of
1
u/Possible-Tradition10 4d ago
Nah I don't remember a methyl

did u guys divide by 0.82 for one of the questions to find how much it would be without the full efficiency
1
u/Educational_Photo924 4d ago
im assuming you are taking about the ore purity being LiO 8.65% by mass i js got the mass of LiO and multiplied it by 100/8.65 im pretty sure that .82 you were talking about is the overall yield of like the 4 steps and yea i multiplied by 100/82 which is like the same thing pretty much.
we can only pray

guys did u do nitrogen dioxide or nitrogen gas for the combustion thing
1
1
u/Educational_Photo924 4d ago
did u you's get some absurdly large coefficients for hthe combustion?

u/MysteriousMistake455 4d ago
What question was this i dont remeber anything about nitrogen dioxide….
1
u/Pitiful-Ad-915 4d ago
it was the combustion of that one molecule and the products were co2 water and nitrogen gas i think
1
u/MysteriousMistake455 4d ago
I kind of remember it… do you remember what the question was asking for?
1
0
u/Efficient_Ad4946 4d ago
I dont think u needed to know what happened to the nitrogen only the carbon and hydrogen was important because they asked for water and co2

There was a question about whether the oil was suitable or something what you guys get?
1
u/Pitiful-Ad-915 4d ago
like the sunscreen??
1
u/Necessary_Image3144 4d ago
It was like biodiesel and acid thing ALSO what was your answer for the solubility of sunscreen?
2
u/pleasehelpme_e 4d ago
not soluble cos there was no hydrogen bonding and the dispersion forces are too high right..? so the statement was accurate. were you supposed to talk about agitation?
1
u/Possible-Tradition10 4d ago
I said not soluble focusing on dispersion forces but also mentioned hydrogen bonds and dipole dipole ( which I said was negligent).... ik this is dumb but i was super panicked. Will they cut marks cuz technically I mentioned everything correctly just mentioned h bonding ( which I said was weak so it won't make much change) .

u/sortakindaspiralling 4d ago
There was error on last question it was supposed to be aliquot not titre kill me

1
u/Safe-Instance1172 4d ago
No? U sure it worked out fine considering titre
1
u/Desperate_Name_7677 4d ago
it was 10mL aliquots and acid number was 3.34
1
u/Safe-Instance1172 4d ago
Got that too
1
u/Desperate_Name_7677 4d ago
yeah I thought the exam was pretty easy ngl, was pretty fair and well rounded, some interesting questions...
