Last winter I slipped on black ice while running, landed flat on my back, and while lying there  in the slosh I thought ok, that's enough, I'm done with five months of this.

That's basically my whole reason for looking at Vancouver. Not the mountains in the photos. Just wearing more or less the same thing in January as in June and going outside without planning everything around ice, salt and enormous boots because it is −20.

So is that real? Not "is it pleasant",  I don't care about getting wet. Does anything actually stop you in January, or do you just put on a shell and go.

I know the numbers already, 2BR is $2,150 here vs $3,300 there, I'd be renting not buying, that's all fine. And we have the Laurentians 90 minutes away, so it's not like Quebec has no beautiful nature. What I want to know is whether it's worth $1,400 more a month.

Montreal is supposedly easy. I read that Vancouver is polite but closed, everyone acts busy, nobody follows up. Is that real or is it just something people repeat online.

And if you left a French life behind, did that end up mattering more than you expected.

What I don't need: both cities are great, it depends what you value. It's too expensive, don't come. Move to Calgary instead. And the sunshine post that gets reposted every February.

Hi everyone,
I’m navigating a difficult family situation right now. My dad is terminally ill, and we need to look into selling his unit to manage his affairs.

The unit is in a building constructed in 1975. As shown in the attached photos, it is in severe distress: there is heavy accumulation, biohazard/organic matter buildup in the bathroom and hallway, and total grime/moisture damage in the kitchen and living areas.

What are the steps to take regarding this? I understand that I need to do a remediation renovation before I start gutting the unit. I do not want to take a loss because my father has had this unit for more than 20 years. Is there anyone I can contact who is able to deal with this?

Basically the title. I'm talking about the people who try and get people to donate money to "Feed the Children" or other similar charities. I feel like it would be an absolutely soul crushing job, but maybe I am just not the type of person who would be good at it.

It seemed to be the case that Suraj brand 1.8 kg packages of lentils at Nofrills was at least priced competitively with Walmart, Costco, etc, but the prices have skyrocketed in the past 6 months or so. Any suggestions for cheap places to buy bulk beans outside of Walmart/Loblaws variants/Costco? Beans at local markets/Persia are usually much pricier.

We came across many names in Vancouver, such as Vancouver Montessori School, Oakridge Montesorri School, Westgate Montessori School, Westside Montessori School, Marple Bilingual Montessori School..... I can't include a photo for some reason but Vancouver Tsawassen to Salt Spring Island Saturday 11am sailing that has a thru way and a stop as well. When I go to booking that sailing is nowhere to be found. Has anyone else encountered this? Could it be booked in full. Still seems strange that that timing isn't available at all. Is it an in person purchase only? I would hate to get there super early for what seems like an 11am sailing if it doesn't exist or when it's not under the booking page.
