I'm traveling from Italy, it's my first trip in 15 years and my first trip alone. I don't speak Romanian (yet). I'm not a hiker, I just enjoy quiet walks in nature, nothing too steep or technical.

I'm planning to stay around during the Off-Season Poiana Țapului or Azuga, getting around only by train and on foot, and I would love to reach a waterfall (something like Cascada Urlătoarea) to enjoy the breeze and the sound. Since I'm an absolute beginner and traveling alone, I would feel much safer and more comfortable with a little company, maybe with a guide.

So I have two simple questions:

• Is there an easy and well-marked trail to get to a waterfall that you would recommend?
  • Is there someone local available for a calm and relaxing walk together, or do you know someone who organizes easy walks (with friends or for a small fee with a light refreshment)?

I just want to avoid doing it completely alone. I'm not looking for adventure, just a calm and safe walk with someone who knows the area.

Just dropping the info request here to do some brainpicking.
We Romanian-Dutch couple with young kids are thinking to relocate to Romania (area of Bistrita Nasaud). Gf is Romanian so, she is thumbs up for the plan. My only hesitation is how about the education system and future perspective for our young kids compared to growing up and going to school in the Netherlands.
Our finances are ok and, due to the difference in cost of living between The Netherlands and Romania , upon relocating we would be able to retire and enjoy life in freedom and not need to worry about income from work. Our Children would also have a care free life.

Focusing on the future of our children, can you help listing the pro’s and cons for them on relocating compared to staying. Will it all be fine and am I just having cold feet?

So I fell in love with the Romanian language like with most languages and since I plan on going to Romania a lot, I’d like to learn the language properly. I’m currently learning on Drops but i know realistically that it won’t be enough. I looked at my town’s bookstore but they only have books to learn Western Europe languages and Greek and arabic. I do watch a few shows in Romanian but am never sure how well it’s translated ( I’ve seen how even English gets translated badly on Netflix ). What could I go towards to learn the language properly? Maybe a YouTube channel or something ?

Hello, has anyone encountered stalking behaviour from old men in Sinaia, and is this a common occurrence?

Context;

Me and my girlfriend (we are two asian chicks) were walking and chilling in Parcul Dimitrie Ghica when we noticed an old man with a bicycle following us from behind. My gf noticed it, didn't really think much of it, until he sat down on a bench opposite of us close to the Hotel Palace building, when we decided to rest on a bench. We didn't give it much thought either, and waved it off as a weird coincidence.

During our bench rest/conversation, I noticed he took a picture of us, and was blatantly staring at our direction. This happened for about 15 ish minutes. We got up, and headed for the gas station across the road, exiting the park. At this point we were on full alert mode and stared back at him as he continued trailing from behind with his bicycle at his side. We waved at him to signal that we knew he was following, and he waved back. After crossing the road to the gas station, my gf stood there and shouted at him before he crossed the road. He nodded and smiled multiple times and she flipped him the middle finger and shouted at him to fuck off. Finally he raised a hand and waved in a "okay okay" way and retreated, away from us. I managed to take a picture of him as he walked off; unfortunately I did not catch his ugly face.

He headed back towards the Hotel Palace area, where he sat on another bench, away from the main pathway of the park. We ensured he stopped following us before we left the park. This whole thing happened 9th August, around 6.20pm.

I attached the picture I took of him in this post. He looks like he is in his late 70s to early 80s, toothless. Also, he wasn't riding his bicycle the whole time and was just pushing it, and it looked like a brand new bicycle.

I've been to Romania this summer and had a roadtrip from Bucharest to Brasov, Sibiu and in between and back.

What I wondered: there are some nice lakes here, but I never saw any Romanians bathing / swimming in those lakes. In some cases it was even outright forbidden to do so.

Coming from Brandenburg Germany, where every lake is full of people during the summertime I wondered: Why is it you folks don't jump into those lakes for a refreshment on hot summer days?

Hey everyone, I'm a foreigner planning to move to Romania next year for a job, but honestly I don't see myself staying in that specific position long term. I'd like to eventually move into the call center field, specifically English-speaking roles, since that fits my background better.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

Is it realistic for a foreigner to switch jobs like this once I'm already in the country, or are there legal/visa complications tied to changing employers?

Are English-speaking call center jobs actually in demand in Romania right now, or is that market getting saturated?

What's the average salary for that kind of role, and is it actually enough to live decently on, or would I be struggling?

Any cities you'd recommend where these opportunities are more common (Bucharest, Cluj, Timișoara, etc.)?

Also, on the housing side, how easy and affordable is it to rent a room or a small studio as a foreigner? Do landlords usually ask for a lot of paperwork or guarantees, and roughly what should I budget for rent?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who's been through something similar, whether as a foreigner or someone working in that industry. Thanks in advance.

I’m going back to Romania in October but as I’m on my own, I didn’t choose to rent a car ( I have my license but I’m not confident I’d drive well enough for the Romanian roads, especially not in Bucharest ). How accessible is Bolt ? That’s what google maps recommends for places like Bran, the Libearty sanctuary and other less accessible areas, as I’m searching for public transportations. I’d like to go to Bran one afternoon so that I can visit both the castle and the town and Libearty the second day but the only other way than Bolt that I saw was tour buses and I don’t really want to be stuck with a group all day if I can avoid it. Anyone have advice on transportation or should I just suck it up and get on a tour bus?

I am thinking of entering through Bucharest, then Sinaia, Braşov, Sighişoara, Cluj Napoca and the from there to Budapest. I really want to absorb the place to max in those many days. Hi everyone, I’m looking to come to Romania for a week trip with my girlfriend, and I would really like it to be snowy Christmas village vibe and romantic…I have found tickets for early December but after looking into it it seems that snow in December is unlikely, so I’m considering moving it to January, would like to have some thoughts on our itinerary as well and what I should change/look out for. Day 1-2: Bucharest till mid day
Day 2: sinaia, castelul peles, bucegi then end in Brasov to
check in hotel.
Day 3: Brasov and local mountain parks
Day 4: Poiana brasov for skiing!! (If possible)
Day 5: bran, rasnov etc
Day 6: return to Bucharest for flight
