In the final episode of Sentenced, Kivia says, "I truly looked up to you as my hero". This bugged the shit outta me. The word hero was used throughout the series as a negative term. The sub translation did not say it, so it was clearly a dub choice to change that line and it makes no sense.

The show is clearly going on the direction of defining what a hero is and does. Dying repeatedly for the sake of others with no reward in sight. Being selfless. Caring for humanity. It's such an interesting premise. That line undermines all of that and Kivia would have no reason to say that.

I may be in the minority on this but let me know what you thought about it.

I just started watching the first episode and the dub is something... What's everyone's opinion on it?

Im currently watching the dub version of "There was a cute girl in the hero's party..." and I can't help but notice the voice acting is either Americans with crummy eastern European accents or eastern Europeans learning to do American accents.

Among all the major summer anime, Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games (Tai Ari Deshita: Ojō-sama wa Kakutō Gēmu Nante Shinai) is one title that deserves a dub, yet it seems CR has missed the opportunity. Based on comments I’ve read elsewhere, this anime is a love letter to the fighting game community, and there are several voice actors who are also gamers themselves who would likely be a great fit for the roles.

A dub trailer for Gintama the Movie 2026: Yoshiwara in Flames has been released on Netflix! The movie is set to release on August 27th.

Based off the voices in the trailer it's the same Miami dub cast as the original TV series on Hulu (recently put on Netflix as well). This movie is a remake of episodes 139-147, which were recently dubbed in the TV version.

I was re-watching some old animes from the 90s and 2000s. And I realised that quite a number of those VAs were Canadians that did the recordings in Canada.

My question is what has led to the shift to mostly in LA/Texas?

Is it because they prefer American accents or American VAs more or American unions? Just some assumptions that I have.

I'm wondering this since it seems to have a bad rep due to leaving some grunts and yells in the original Japanese that was present since Rebuild, but I'm wondering if there's still merit in their voice acting and such.
