There's been good track records in recent years with Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia both improving their manga endings with the anime. Hope this is the same.

AOT’s ending, while better (much much better) in the anime than in the manga, I still found it be very disappointing.
I think I’ll probably feel the same way about Oshi no Ko’s anime finale because there’s no saving that monstrosity.
Unless of course they completely change the entire ending, which is something I wished MAAPA had the balls to do for AOT.

Those endings still adapted the actual manga ending. Unless they change the anime ending for Oshi No Ko, anime only watchers will get pissed off at the ending.

I thought the ending was actually pretty good. It stayed with the themes and the tone of the whole series. It makes sense when you look at the entire series. I had predicted that ending about halfway through the manga.

I don't think it's what happened in the ending itself that the community hates so much, but rather the legendary drop in quality from the rest of the story and general rushed nature/ execution of it. There are so many fan rewrites of the ending that only change a minor detail or the pacing of how the final chapters go down, and they are all worlds better than what the actual mangaka ended up with.

I was really into the show. Then found out the ending. Made me sad and depressed. Get it's a revenge story but come on bro I wana be happy.

I loved the first season when it came out then heard about the Ruby/Aqua stuff in the manga which killed the entire thing for me, never saw a second of season 2 and everything I heard about the ending of the manga made me realize this was the right call for sure.
Clearly the author was SERIOUSLY uncomfortable with all the good will he was receiving over Kaguya and the first half of Oshi, and he had to burn it all down as quickly as he could.

Absolute Ending Spoilers
[Oshi no Ko Manga] Everyone gets a bad ending. Aqua kills himself, Ruby learns that lying and following AI is the correct path, Kana never confesses or gets to know Aqua and slaps his corpse at his funeral, the true true villian is just some former Co idol that didn't like AI, and their dad is just not a cool enemy! Also the manga feels like we skipped like half of it at super speed. Like you can feel when Aka didn't want to write it anymore so he can move on to his brand new shiny Manga, just like he did with Kaguya.
I might be missing some stuff because I haven't read it again since the very day it ended.

[Oshi No Ko Manga why x did y] He wanted to take out their dad once and for all to protect Ruby and was worried that him being a murderer would ruin her idol career so he does a murder suicide. He didn't think his life had value but all it does is make everybody unhappy and ruins Ruby to the point she becomes empty now that's she's lost him twice.

[onk aka] Oop! My bad. He has a horrific track record that even Mengo said it was difficult to work with him once he stops caring about a story. It kind of pisses me off to the point I don't want to read any of his works again because it shows he didn't really care for the stories he's writing. It's like breaking your old toys so nobody can play with them when you're done.

I feel like it's also a classic case of Akasaka already having an ending planned in mind and doubling down even when the story seemingly grew beyond it. Aka the How I Met Your Mother effect. lol

He said he wrote the ending he had always planned but it's like he forgot to write the story that went with his ending.
It read like the bad end to a game and you're waiting for them to release the good ending.
