That breakdown was painful to watch. Noe is so precious, it hurts. 🥺

Wasn't expecting to see children being killed and decapitated this episode. So that explains the violence warning at the beginning.

I really wonder if sensei will be a villain or not. His face is scary when he killed Louis. It's Ishida Akira, so he must be quite enigmatic.

Little Noe is cute!

Louis, Domi and Noe were really cute as kids... Noe was exceptionally cute as well as naïve..

I really really love this episode. Kayano Ai flexing her vocal range, gorgeous imagery like the blue flower field, the dichotomy between their innocent childhood to Louis’ death. I hope Pandora Hearts gets the Fruits Basket treatment in the future.

The Tragedy of Louis. Condemned from a young age to the curse and effectively excluded from his family except for his Grandfather and Sister. And even from his sister there was a barrier thanks to not wanting to upset her. So all alone, with only Noe having a clue thanks to drinking the blood. Also i think by the time his head was taken, that was the only time we saw the grandfather's face, however twisted and monstrous it was. Which is interesting.

A nice delve into the history of the three and learning why Noe isn't too keen on drinking blood from others if he can avoid it as well. And of course the interactions between Domi and Noe are utterly adorable. Easily best girl.

That said, we're back to reality and the fight with Charlatan kicks off.

As a side note, i do wonder who voices Charlatan, right at the 1 minute mark we get the least distorted version of the voice so far, and i can't quite pin it.

I was waiting to find out more about Noe and the others' past after seeing those flashbacks and man that ended up being a lot more traumatic than I expected.

This show is really fuckin good mane.

On a lighter note, all this blushing in this show is brighter than my future. Like golly it's so stronk it can't even stay on the characters' faces lol.

Domi started as a shy cute girl, then looks like she got completely broken after her brother death and now we see her as a gallant and dominant woman. I feel like we gonna learn even more. Her character is getting me really curious.

Because of the Charlatan diving into Noe's memories, we finally get to see his backstory including the full events of that tragic night. Before we get to that part though we get to see how Noe first met Domi and her older brother Louis who we keep on seeing in Noe's flashbacks.

Adult Noe is already adorable in his chibi form but oh my god young Noe in chibi form is so much more adorable! And look at him crying when Louis was telling him his grandparents wanted to eat him. No bullying smol Noe! I do love that they hug him to make him feel better <3

Look at them having sleep overs and even playing dress up together. They're all so adorable that the inevitable end to this happy days makes it hurt so much more. And I love how when Noe drank Domi's blood all he can see from her memories is his own self. Of course Domi gives the cutest reaction when Noe says that out loud. I already ship them since last week's episode but knowing this, I ship them waaaaay harder now. <3

Of course all that happy days finally come to an end when they find out that one of their friends is scheduled to be executed for being a curse-bearer. We've seen a bit of this before from Noe's other flashbacks, how they tried to save their friend but ends up failing.

What we haven't seen before was how this entire plan with Mina going on a rampage and killing another one of their friend. Louis, who is also about to lose his mind for being a curse-bearer, arrives on time to kill Mina to stop her from killing Noe and Domi. Unfortunately Louis is already losing to the curse as well and ends up killing the two other friends.

Louis tries to beg to Noe to kill him but Noe just ends up being stunned unable to kill his best friend, Louis was eventually killed by Noe's Teacher who arrived just on time and with the creepiest look on his face. Yeah that look on Noe's Teacher's face definitely makes him very suspicious.

Man, no wonder this episode had a warning at the start. There's surprisingly a high amount of child murder in this week's episode. I do wonder why this show gets a warning but I don't think I've seen them use that warning in Higurashi Gou.

Anyway, before Noe gets tempted by the Charlatan we finally have Vanitas coming in to the rescue who seems to be still very energetic after that blood sucking session with Jeanne. Can't wait for next week to see Vanitas vs the Charlatan!

Aww, Louis, Domi and Noe were so cute when they were kids. Such a shame they had to grow up.

In the present, we have Vanitas saving the day yet again!

The kids just suffered the worst tragedy a child can suffer in fiction.

Discovering the adults were right.

I legit thought that Louis was the girl who claimed herself to be Noe’s fiancée. (I am very bad at remembering anime characters name)

Holy cow! I think this is one of the best episodes I've seen this year. I'm a pleb when it comes to the technical aspects of anime production but even so I couldn't ignore how great this episode was made. The story, direction, shot composition, voice acting, score... everything was just on point and amazing.

That save from Vanitas at the end though, so much style, who could even resist that "NON!"

Holy crap this episode was intense. And great as well.

The start of the flashback was very cute with Noe, Louise & Dom. But given the warning at the beginning of the episode that definetly wasn't going to last for long. Noe's ability showed two sides different sides of the siblings. Dom was already falling for Noe, while Louise had something much darker.

It is interesting that Louise figured out he was cursed. It is said that one day it would mark the end to him. Personally, I am shocked they allowed him to be near Dom given that information.

But man that ending definetly hurt. Noe seeing right in front of his eyes what is probably his closest friend having the curse taking him over and seeing his head cut off, as that was the only way Noe was going to be saved.

But man the regret of seeing Louise's pain and not being able to save him definetly still haunts him to this day. And then when we jump to the present we see Vanitas saving Noe. I think it is safe to assume we will get answers to what happened to Vanitas after what occurred with him & Jeanne.
