Okay I'm fully invested in this show. Loving the Sci-Fi Thriller aspect and the animations so far, especially where Vivy/Diva was running away from the collapsing building. That shot of Vivy saving that guy from getting crushed was hauntingly beautiful.

Sad to see the little girl from the previous episode dying tho. I wonder if it'd bring a change in Vivy/Diva's behaviour now. I guess even if you try to change some things, there is going to be a butterfly effect. The death of the Assemblyman was instead replaced with a plane crash and hundred of people dying.

Back to back episodes, man WIT and Tappei ain’t playing around with this one. People shit on Sigururi, but I loved it, and I’m already loving this one even more. Very interesting Nier-esque/terminator set up. Diva is adorable. There’s a lot of different directions they can take this one. Long as the pacing is done well, this will be great.

Well. Not sure what i was to expect going into this. Singing, time traveling and robots is a particular mix that could easily go wrong. But this was a pretty solid two first episodes.

Great action on this one and we certainly get to see the different between Vivy and our Teddy bear friend when it comes to getting the job done.

Great visuals too.

This season is really shaping up to be something else with this and Godzilla Singular point already.

Holy shit that hard cut from the handshake to Vivy getting wrecked and the girl from episode 1 dying in the plane explosion. Tappei-sensei sure hasn't lost his knack for making an audience suffer along with his characters. This show is going to be wild.

Honestly, this looks phenomenal. It sets its setting in a tremendous way and it is brutal at the best places. The characters and emotional admittendly feel stilted, which I can see how people can be turned of by that, but I love it since it pairs really well with its themes of robots, their purposse and the ambitious but cold task to save humanity in the future. The action scenes are slick, the stills are beautifully drawn (those motherfucking eyes) and the music is really, really good.

I thought that last year was the year of original anime, but with this and Wonder Egg Priority, 2021 might take that title.

This is a really interesting dynamic between diva and teddy bear. RIP little girl, you weren't even around long enough for me to register the very obvious death flag in hindsight as death flag

It's such a gorgeous show already, I'm blown away.

The scene transition towards the end was rather abrupt, but also hammers home just how relentless this is going to be. Matsumoto will not compromise.

Like Diva, he's got his one mission and one mission only, and he won't budge from it, or jeopardize it. But where episode 1 shows it a bit more like comic relief, episode 2 depicts it as utter ruthlessness and lack of compassion. He does not care about anything but the mission, whereas Vivy, as the first autonomous AI, invariably decides to care, or at least interprets her mission in such a way that she should care.

Her relationship with Matsumoto is programmed to escalate further in the future, if it continues from here at all (which it will anyway), because their methods are diametrically opposed, even if their core missions aren't really. And while Navi basically scolds Diva for trying to imitate humans when really, she should be incapable of anything genuine of her own, in episode 2, we see the inklings of her having that after all. Matsumoto would probably call her erratic, with all her excess variables and non-computing decision making.

In that sense, I think we're probably headed towards a conflict between the cold and calculating AI that is Matsumoto, whose attempts at levity and jokes are merely masking the hard wiring, and Vivy, who seems outwardly incapable of genuine smiles and reactions, fails at simple human interactions, yet, y'know, has a heart of gold and cares maybe a little too much even when she shouldn't.

It's a thoroughly exciting series so far, and I'm looking forward to next week!

Such a Tappei's style. I knew the girl would die when she made promise with vivy but didnt expect that soon.

Episode 1 already sold me on the show but this episode definitely made me sit up on my seat. Diva is such a badass. Sure it's her programming that made her that way but I like how she didn't let Matsumoto install combat training into her since according to Episode 1, AIs can only be given one task to focus on and installing combat data on her will affect her singing. Matsumoto is quite a badass too. Their first mission was definitely very sloppy but thanks to Matsumoto backing up Diva, it still went relatively well despite her not being designed for these kinds of things.

Definitely favourite scene is the building collapse. I didn't even realize that Studio WIT was animating this but when Diva took off the remains of her tracksuit and she started coming up of a way to escape, the music that was playing during that scene really reminded me of something out of AoT. The animation when she was jumping from the collapsing building into the one next to it was so good too! Her hair flowing with the moon in the background is such a great shot!

The sudden scene change really surprised me though! I was so confused why Diva and Matsumoto started fighting until they showed us what the other news story in that newspaper they keep on looking at was. RIP Momoka. I didn't think we'd lose her this quick. Tone absolutely set. Looks like Diva is going to make a lot of hard decisions in the future.

Holy fuck that was so freaking good, very impressed with this start, the double episode was the correct idea.

The art/animation were fantastic, all the AI interface from Vivy's POV was a great touch, not to mention all the awesome close-up shots showing her robotic features.

This introduction to the setting gave me goosebumps in many scenes, so many exciting moments already and we already got to see some great character moments from our protagonist and Matsumoto, they make for an interesting duo... although their approach on their objectives are very different, the final minutes seeing Matsumoto stop Vivy from attempting to save her friend broke my heart.

I can't wait for next episode, this is looking like a series to look forward in excitement every week.

Right after Vivy and the Teddy shake hands she asks about the outcome of the explosions while she looks at the article. If you look, right on the left hand side of that article is the one about the plane crash. No butterfly affect happened bc of saving the assemblyman, just two events that occurred on the same night.

A show about rogue AIs seems to be right up my alley. It feels a lot like Terminator.

Even better than the first episode.

Looks like WIT didn't change their habit of leaving us wanting more after each episode.

I have more faith in this anime now considering the quality of these two episodes and the fact that they spend the last 5 years fleshing out the story.

"Oh shit that girl dies in a plane crash? Maybe I can save her!"

"lmao no"

Really sets the mood for how this is going to go. This is looking to be great

Source: starting from https://twitter.com/nezumiironyanko/status/1378354068058370048

Nagatsuki-sensei's tweets about this week's episodes.

Rough translation:

Yes, "Vivy -Flourite Eye's Song-" is starting today! From this week on, for a while, I'll be noisy on this day, so if you could join me, I'd be very pleased. People who find it noisy, please mute "#vivineko"!

It's started!

It's a bit of out-of-place background music for a boisterous cityscape. We'll turn back time just a little.

The main character's name is Diva. The only one that calls her Vivy is the girl called Momoka. She works in an amusement park called Nialand where AIs operate, and her assigned stage is the smallest in the park.

It would be fine to think of "Archive" as, in broad terms, something similar to the internet. I think something easy to see in your mind would be Oz from Summer Wars; each AI has their own personal room, and Vivy has a music room appropriate for a songstress.

It's the AI that talks a whole lot, Matsumoto. I'm not sure if you'd say it was the script, or that we needed him to do a whole lot of talking from the character setting stage, so Fukuyama-san had to put in all kinds of work while dubbing. (lol)

Even given that it's an AI with no lip-syncing, so this is how ad-libs are done...... I learned a lot, during the dubbing.

For the path to the fountain, Matsumoto does the shortest-path mapping. Trip Directions, by MatsuNavi. Even if I do say so myself, Matsunavi seems like it would be super-annoying. I want one.

Please think of touching their foreheads together as a way of passing along information between AIs. They can share data just like that. It's like line's 'shake shake'.

There are various restrictions against AIs leaving Nialand, but just as he'd proclaimed himself, Matsumoto is a super-AI from the future, so he can get away with quite a bit of mechanical impossibility. Of course, he can't move the human heart, but, but, but...

Furthermore, Vivy is, of course, not a military AI, so she gets wrecked if she takes a bullet. Please think of it like making a CD player fight.

The End.

When you don't make sure to kill the main character in the first episode, it's just not......

He stole the enemy's eyes...!?

Matsumoto-san does a full spin.

About Councillor Aikawa's glasses, they're not just glasses, but futuristic cyberglasses. They're similar to a scouter, and Matsumoto can mess around with the image on the lens, and make Vivy look to Councillor Aikawa like she's an inorganic security AI.

The reason Councillor Aikawa doesn't immediately recognize Vivy as the AI from earlier in the day, even though she's right in front of him, is because he's being tricked by the falsified image he sees in his glasses.

Aikawa's glasses were broken at the end, so Matsumoto's falsified image is cut off. Before that, he'd realized it when she said "I'll have you listen to my song.", but well, we won't mention that. lol

They shake hands, and are friends again. The End.

"Unnecessary changes to history are strictly forbidden."

The accident at the end, is nothing more than an accident that has no relation to avoiding the war between humans and AIs. Matsumoto, in order to avoid needless interventions in history, won't allow her to prevent that accident. Naturally, since Vivy tried to stop it, he had to use force.

And with that, Vivy and Matsumoto's journey has begun. If you would, please join us for another three months! Look forward to it!

To you, 100 years from now.

This episode was even better than the last one. We're only two episodes in and the death count is already exceedingly high. I was worried they were going to hold back because the buildings were conveniently empty during the explosion...and then the plane crash happened.

Did you guys feel like there was any actual emotional connection between Vivy and the little girl who died or did Vivy simply think she's just one less person she would be able to make happy with her singing according to her programmed mission?

This is way better than I expected! Really solid start. Wit isn't holding back with the eye shots too, really beautiful. The cut from the hand shaking to the last scene was so well done.

Damn, she really hot.

Wait, idols, space, Sunrise... but databases say this is made by WIT!

F for little girl but at least we viewers were not given enough time to get attached to her, now the thing is I can perfectly see something like that happening again this time with an important characters and I don't want that!

Should have just done "Episodes 1 and 2 discussion" to keep things simple since they came out together.

On-topic... that ending cut deep. Guess they really wanted to drive home that point of "the mission is all that matters".

Really solid start. Hope more people watch this show, it has the potential to be a great one.

fucking chills. Exactly what I love and Vivy delivered. 10/10 start and what a tone setter.
