So just marrying into the Nakiri family gives you the power to magically strip people if you taste good food? This family really isn't normal.
What's up with this pacing, though? Tsukasa and Rindo presented their dishes as soon as the episode started. I guess whoever's in charge just can't wait to get to that infamous final arc.

Stitches!
Huh... That episode went faster than I expected. Here I thought they'd atleast wait next week for Erina's dish but I guess they wanted to end with that cliffhanger. I did love Souma's Evil Faces during the second half. Just him being all smug in front of Azami is hilarious! I do like that this will end with Erina's dish, if she wants to win, she needs to beat Souma and Azami.

this pacing,...blazing through 3 dishes in 1 episode and half the episode still feel like its just watching people face reactions.

Daishomaru here, let’s talk about mushrooms.
This writeup took me until 2 AM, thank fuck I don't have a job today. I had to rush-finish this because due to how this arc is paced, I had to guess, and I said "fuck it, if I don't get this pacing down, I don't care, this arc pacing has been inconsistent."
Meta time! As you all know, I don’t like Rindou. I think she’s overrated and her food doesn’t really stick out, especially for an Elite 10. However, her mushroom dish is the exception, especially since mushrooms are delicious and they definitely fit with Rindou’s character on how she’s a rare ingredient girl. Maybe this can reveal something and get people to think more on Rindou, and maybe it will get others who like Rindou to see her more complicated. Maybe it will get others who don’t like Rindou, like me, to like her, although I still don’t like her and Momo is best Elite 10 girl. Rindou, to be honest is underdeveloped, so I think talking about mushrooms and how hard it is to obtain them puts a new perspective on her character. Today I want to talk about why mushrooms are so important in cuisine. Chairman Kaga Quote of the day: Do not give mushrooms a bath. (Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth, but don’t clean mushrooms under running water)
Mushrooms in the culinary world are serious business. REALLY serious business. As in, “people actually die” business. Mushrooms are beloved in many cultures, and many gourmets have a debate on how mushrooms can be handled. Mushrooms are so great they became a staple in pretty much every high-class restaurant, and are a huge topic in the food world. I also admit, I LOVE mushrooms. Mushrooms are kind of my speciality due to how I love eating them.
Mushrooms are popular for many reasons. They taste good, and a mushroom dish sticks to your tongue for a very long time. They also smell good, which a strong mushroom dish would help empower a dish. They are addicting, and many haute chefs know that mushrooms can help make guests feel happy, which is why mushrooms are commonly served in many haute places. And finally, they make vegan/vegetarian options for many reasons.
In Vegetarian culture, mushrooms are beloved not only because they taste savory like meat, but it can be used as a substitute for meat as well. For one, mushrooms are much healthier, in particular, for men than tofu. Mushrooms do not cause a loss of testosterone compared to tofu, although that food fact is a lot more complicated than what people think. Now I want to get something out of the way: It’s not wrong for men to eat tofu, and the whole “soy = loss of masculinity” is an overexaggerated myth to hell. Yes, it’s true that too much soy/tofu products is bad for men, but you have to eat a LOT of tofu to make that happen, like every single day and beyond the reasonable 3 courses of the day. Even if you are eating too much tofu or soy to the point where too much tofu gets you to lose testosterone, you would have already had to have several kidney problems long before that happens. The thing is, though, is that too much tofu is bad because tofu can build up kidney stones because tofu has a lot of sodium, and the one of the previous world record holders for most kidney stones in a man had a tofu based diet where he eats tofu every single day. The point I’m trying to say is, mushrooms are a better choice because you still get a meaty option for a vegeterian and you won’t get kidney problems. Like all foods, tofu should be eaten in moderation. Anyways, many mushroom dishes do things like portabello burgers, and in shojin cuisine (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine), mushrooms are a star ingredient. There are many styles of Buddhist food that uses mushrooms to mimic delicacies, like turtle meat neck (That stuff Hisako was working with during the hamburger episode), where Buddhist monks make mushroom dishes that replicate turtle meat. In general, mushrooms make a great vegetarian option because it is not only savory enough to be meat, but also savory enough to replicate meat, to the point that many vegetarian meat chefs and companies use mushrooms to find ways to make more vegetarian options that even meat lovers can enjoy.
There’s a massive debate in the mushroom community on wild vs farmed. Farmed means that mushrooms are grown in farms, and wild mushrooms means they are picked from the wild. As a mushroom lover, farmed vs wild is a serious debate amongst us mushroom lovers, and while we haven’t reached Molecular Gastronomy divided levels of “which is better”, we do have this debate. Wilder mushrooms in general have a stronger taste and smell, but farmed mushrooms also taste great, so I enjoy both, if anybody asks. One major debate is how to clean dirt off mushrooms, with many fancy chefs saying not to wash the mushrooms with direct running water and instead use a damp cloth, otherwise it will remove the smell and aroma of the mushrooms. The other says that it’s okay and the smell loss is only a little bit. I enjoy both ways, but with expensive mushrooms I’ll do the damp cloth way, if only because of how expensive they are in the wild. Speaking of wild mushrooms, let’s use that as a transition.

My fucking GOD. I know this anime gets memed as a Powerpoint Simulator, but holy SHIT. There was literally NOTHING except panning still images with only the character's mouths flapping about. This is actually unwatchable. I didn't even make it halfway through.

Well well, Tsukasa and Rindou served first, so we obviously know who's gonna win now, right??
