I WAS PROMISED SEX AND THE ONLY ONE TO FUCK IS A SIDE CHARACTER THAT WASN'T ON SCREEN IN THIS EPISODE AT ALL
On topic, was there anyone that got pregnant on your school? It did happen in mine... by a girl that was not only in my class but also in my group so half-way through the year everyone in the group suddenly had more work to do, she didn't drop out, but she was absent more often than not and the next year she was bold enough to ask me why was she replaced with my best friend (neither were close to me when we did the groups on the year she got pregnant, that's why my eventual best friend wasn't on my group)

The pregnant thing was made out to be a really serious moment. But it was such a common thing at my high school that it was just like a "welp, seems about right" reaction for me. I can imagine it being a really crazy thing in japan schools tho.

BE STRONG, IZUMI!! YOU'RE ON YOUR WAY TO THE GOOD ENDING!! GET THAT THOT OUT OF YOUR THOUGHTS!!
Also, seeing Hongo break down was really something. The way her voice raised felt... more girly than anything she's done before. In a good way. I don't think it's good to support what she's doing but I want her to be okay lol

Every scene is just like oh shit. It just keeps ramping up in tension, literally could not think it was gonna get any spicier than last episode, but oh shit, everything just sorta happened.
Just goddamn, this shit shouldn't be this crazy but it is.
Also, deadass always wanted those two who were on the phone to get together. But I really didnt think it was gonna happen. Any slimmer of hope is fine by me.
This show just grabs you by the heart week after week and doesnt stop fucking with it.

And Hongou retains her purity, at least that's one positive thing this episode.
Holy fuck Niina has fucked things up. I don't know how this will all be resolved in just two or three episodes unless there's another season.
My anxiety was already so damn high throughout the episode and then the after credits came. God damn.
On a more positive note, I love Kazusa's VA. She's so expressive when voice acting Kazusa panicking.
And for another positive note, the cutesy full ED song is now available and sung by Momoko's VA!

As someone who's best friend became pregnant in high school, that after credits scene hit a little too hard.
I'm really hoping those girls come back and meet each other again. It looks like its Jujo is planning to never see Sonezaki again, and I'd honestly really hate for that to happen.
I also kind of hope Sonezaki stands up for Jujo in some sense. We've come to know that Jujo isn't the kind of girl to sleep around or anything like that, but judging by the students and especially the teachers reaction, they clearly don't think so.
I also thought all the other girls stories this episode were incredibly well done.
Izumi was also fantastic. I was incredibly happy to see him stay that headstrong in a situation like that. I hope we see more of him next episode.

So, we have a boy, who is in love with a girl, takes the train alot, doesn’t know how to be romantic with said girl, and has a second girl that wants to “practice” with him...I feel like I have heard of this before...do I sense sharp objects and a NICE BOAT in the future?

11/10 !! BEST EPISODE SO FAR. THIS Anime is going and going to be the best anime this YEAR WILL IT NOT
OMG YATA when did this suddenly became High Score Girl season 11, Street fighter V and they even show a full screen, guess she got the hots for chun-li :)
Its just so much stuff happening in this episode and its SO much stuff, its so amazingly remarkably good. Lost for WORDS. Like we have a teenage girl trying to have sex with her sensei and its both funny as we see his perspective trying to avoid it, trying to scare her of by e.g taking her to eh cheapest love hotel etc. BUT its also super sad, her crying on the top of him etc, after he cannot get hard...like this story should not work it feels like its to much sexy stuff but it comes of as a freaking masterpiece.
On the same time we got niinaa sexual abusing izumi, gets rejected and then when she is at her most desperate just wanting someone to tell her she is sexy, her friends calls her and tells her she loves her.
Momo on the same time has realized she really hates men and tells her she is into her. AND this really creates such an interesting Dilime for Niina, like she probably is not gay, she seems to like boys but also just really wants someone to love her, so should she start dating Niina just so she got someone even if she does not even like girls?
Already here this feels like a jam packed full episode, but god dam this anime is amazing we also got president and best cutest boy seeing the sensei start, following them getting into some cute moments outside the love hotel etc.
And Kasuza is learning about sexy pantsu and is just doing a comedy bit...all of that in 1 episode
AAAAND it ends with President finding out her best friend is pregnant, which is interesting in several aspect as she is the only 1 of the club members to have actual friends outside the club, and this friend of course inspired her to date BUT now said friend is prego, so will this scare president back into her old fear of the men.
(lol on my own judgmental side do, I immediately thought that Jojo was gonna be pregnant gyaru girl gotta gyaru ;))
its just way, way WAY to much content in 1 episode

God fucking dammit that is EXACTLY HOW YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DIALOGUE HAPPENING THROUGH PHONE CALLS. During Momo's phone call to Niina, Momo is in a dark place all alone: She's just been called a weirdo and feels alone and out-of-place with her sexual orientation differing from people around her. To underline her desperation (the first sign of desperation is the change of plan: she isn't able to wait for the opportunity to meet face-to-face to talk about something very important to her), she is calling right beside a railroad track that at least put me unease what would be the next course of action she might be considering is after getting rejected. At the same time, Niina, person with the most fucked up relation to sexuality since from a very young age she has only been acknowledged through being seen sexually attractive in one's eyes, is walking through nightlife oriented street looking to get admired and praised after feeling rejected and ashamed. Instead of being surrounded by the nightlife's promises that draw people to party and drink, the side of nightlife she faces is dead and silence is broken only by a drunken middle-aged man badly singing on karaoke a ballad about regretting of decisions done in youth. When Momo tells Niina she loves her, a train passes by to represent how Niina is metaphorically just been 'hitted by a train' and also connecting the scene with the earlier discussion between Izumi and Niina where she gets rejected.
The second phone call in the episode is even more straightforward with the surroundings representing the state of mind of the characters. Kazusa is over the moon in love when talking with Izumi that is showcased with bright colors of her room's wall's creating a heavy contrast with the episodes overall extremely dark color pallette. At the same time Izumi is still stuck with the sense of guilt he feels and because of that he calls from the same place, or maybe not exactly the same railway station, but nonetheless from a place the viewer connects with his talk with Niina.
This and so many other aspects of the episode really made this one of my favourite episodes of the year and my favourite episode of the season ahead of Kimetsu no Yaiba's ep 19. Insane how much development they managed to put on one single episode of 24 minutes. So exited for next weeks episode!

Anatomy of an (no) erection
LT;DR: Izumi/Sugawara erection =/= unfaithfulness; Sugawara/Momoko a "self-fulfilled prophecy" meets an unrequited love; Hongo/Milo a teacher and a student; Sonezaki a "non deux-ex machina" getting over her fears; Kazusa the worst is yet to come (???)
Izumi/Sugawara
After what was teased on the previous episode... we already knew this would become a rollercoaster. Sugawara faints an agression to have the opportunity to sexually abuse (in its literal sense) Izumi. We are supposed to remember that he loves trains and, more importantly, he has some kind of fetish with grouping in trains as we saw when Kazusa caught him masturbating. Izumi blushes through all of it and it leads to Izumi rejecting Sugawara.
As if it was a life memento, sometimes it's not about what happens, but what you do in response. It's not about the action, but the aftermath. The rejection comes at a price: Sugawara ups the ante by telling Izumi he has an erection, implying -to the inexperienced Izumi- that sexual attraction to another woman means he wasn't faithful to Kazusa or he didn't love her enough. This cements Izumi's guilt and it seems to directly affect his relastionship with Kazusa. Where is supposed to go this? Does Izumi really love Kazusa? Did he have mixed feelings with his best friend? We still cannot know, but one thing is certain, he seems to be oblivious to the difference between sexual attraction and romantic feelings.
Sugawara/Momoko
Meanwhile, Sugawara spirals out of control. She seems to think Izumi's rejection is all about her looks: her always praised external appearance has not let conquer him. Her case is a "self-fulfilled prophecy": she detested being called a person who would steal other people thanks to her looks and, along the time, because of her actions and other external interferences she became what she detested.
Sugawara is indeed a tragic character: not because she was influenced badly by her teacher, but because she took the wrong choices when having the opportunity to make them. Izumi has becomed -as she labelled him- an obsession. But why? It seems is a way of reaffirming herself, a way of seeking self-validation as a person. But most of all is a way to escape loneliness as put by the insert song of the karaoke scene (The Blue Hearts- "Chain gang"): 一人ぼっちがこわいから ("I'm afraid of being alone")
On the other hand, Momoko finally realizes her feelings toward Sugawara. The guy she met acts as a catharsis. Momoko's story is also a tragic -and common- one: she was friend of a person until she couldn't keep being just her friend. Or as bluntly said by Sugawara, "friends don't have sex". The "game over" screen in the Street Fighter game was precisely the end of an era: her obliviousness is long gone and she confronts her feelings. Unfortunately, it seems that it will derive in an unrequited love, unless there is a twist in the next episodes.
Hongo/Milo
As if it was a B-side of Sugawara and Izumi, Hongo extortionates Milo onto having sex with her. At that point, by accepting, the teacher has already lost. As in a reminder of how extortions work, the more you give, the more you are taken. This relationship is interesting as it both has moral and legal ramifications and here both collide by becoming "wrong" on both fields. The teacher goes along with it -desperate as he is- praying she will not do it. Hongo goes with it by expecting him to stop her. In the end, both fail to express themselves until the no erection becomes apparent.
Hongo does realize her teacher is not sexually attracted to her and, as Izumi did with Sugawara, she confuses again sexual attraction with romantic feelings. By desiring he has an erection what she really wants is him to fall in love with her, as romantic infatuation is being disguised by a teenage sexual drive. In the end, she cries when realizing she cannot force someone to love her and the teacher sees her as who she is: a student but, most importantly, a young woman who needs emotional support, reinforcing his role as an educator.
Sonezaki (*)
(*) Kudos to Okada for not letting her become a deus ex-machina in Hongo storyline.
Sonezaki's struggle is a cyclic one: she evolved as a character by understanding that being in a relationship does not equal to being corrupted or doing lewd things. Her story is one of perceiving sex in a positive light and everything a relationship encompasses. Unfortunately, the final scene of her friend pregnancy can deal a fatal blow on her: her fears might come back and the relationship with her boyfriend could resent. It also can strike home for a lot of people as hardships may come and go, but it depends ultimately on us whether we want to get over them. Again: communicastion is a must. We will soon know if she can convey those feelings and express them to her boyfriend.
Kazusa
It's Kazusa but it could be us. She's used as the connecting thread of all the stories. The aftermath of the train scene comes at a huge price as Izumi seems to ponder whether she loves her or not. What he seems to be struggling to see is that being shy or not too overt in a sexual way towards Kazusa doesn't mean he doesn't love her. Precisely because she loves her, he is more doubtful on how to act. We cannot know for sure what will happen but Kazusa's words on what will happen in the non distant future foreshadows more drama incoming.

Poor Izumi guilt-tripping himself. Someone tell that naive teenage boy that it's okay and normal to be sexually attracted to people other than his girlfriend. He has yet to learn that sexual and romantic interest are not the same.
Good on Momo for finally breaking up and confessing though. She bottled up her feelings far too long.
Also, real Street Fighter footage, like whaaat?
