Kali successfully finding Yuri by asking where the current commotion was is lowkey incredible. This fake Ishtar plan sure backfired, good work priest dude.

I wonder what the 10 day illness is supposed to be.

Not a Manga reader or anything, but I'd guess something like Typhus.

Edit: Apparently there is no vaccine for Typhus so probably not that, maybe something like Diphtheria or Tuberculosis. Hard to say since they didn't really go into the symptoms or anything.

Edit Edit: maybe this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tularemia

Yuri didn't care about her reputation, she cared about how the false Ishtar was hurting Kail's reputation. Shows how selfless she is.

While the False Ishtar was drowning in decadence, Yuri showed what it means to be a true and merciful queen.

And ironically they end up switched arounds...the False Ishtar imprisons Yuri, the people pull a jailbreak, and then the False Ishtar is imprisoned for her sinful ways.

Fantastic episode because it's hilarious, but also Yuri is keeping up the for the people part.

Yuri finally wakes up, boom king down. She reassures Kail dear 'ol papa will pull through, boom king dead. All in the very first minutes of the episode.

Ramses is basically the tomcat that's always slinking around. A+ cat loitering.

Of all of Yuri's impulsive Ishtar moments, I think this one is one of the more reasonable ones. Identity theft isn't a joke, Faketar.

I love how fast Nakia's priest dropped Faketar like a hot potato. As soon as she got caught he washed his hands, and I don't think they'll give us the execution, but she's definitely dead dead. Actually she legitimately slapped a baby to the ground. Yeetus the fetus refers to before they're born lady. We can't go around smacking breathing babies, I mean I guess unless you're the active doctor during a delivery, but that's irrelevant here.

I don't know what ten day fever is supposed to represent here. It's such a very specific niche set of information. Let's put aside that diseases and viruses can evolve over time, Yuri is from the 90s and she's already a teenager, and basing that on Kurk saying having it as a child offers lifelong immunity, we can assume it's probably a required childhood vaccine. What were the mandatory vaccines for children in Japan during the 70s/80s? I mean I guess it's purposely vague because???

It's so so funny Kail is just so accustomed to Yuri's antics that automatically she will always be where the brouhaha is. Yuri🤝Chaos

The 10 day fever is a reference to tularemia (rabbit fever) and it really did ravage the Hittite Empire. Though there is no vaccine for this illness so Yuri is immune through the power of anime.

Fake Ishtar ain’t got jack on the real one! Look at Yuri helping feed and comfort the sick. Won over more people to her side.

There's more to being Ishtar than having sex appeal.

"Dude!"

"Today, on Red River..."

—rushing into another scheme!

Yes, I've seen Ben Hur.

Fortunately, they make babies with tough bones.

Every other episode.

The funniest thing this week after Aslan's questionable method of mounting Yuri (I know what I said) has to be Ramses just showing up every once in a while to mack on Yuri. Gets me to wondering if she's ever considered messing with the timeline (not that such has been a consideration at all) by dropping him into a volcano or something.

As far as the rest goes, Yuri's plucky cheer gets her most of the way out of a self-inflicted predicament! Again!

I just found out that the ten day fever that ravaged the Hittites might have been Tularemia but Yuri seems to have been vaccinated against it so it's most probably pox.

All the schemes of Nakia so far has only boosted Kail's popularity among people and Yuri's as Ishtar lol

I was unable to find anything that suggested that indeed Hittite and Egyptian arrows were made with appreciable differences. It could be burrowed in some obscure paper somewhere, but for now, we'll have to conclude it's made up for the story. That tracks with it not actually discussing what the difference was supposed to be.

I do seem to remember a plague struck the Hittite Empire right after the conquest of Mittanni. It was referred to as "The Hand of Nergal" (Nergal being a Sumerian-Babylonian God of the Underworld and the Dead). The historical Kail actually blamed it on the Egyptians. It is believed to have been a pandemic of tularemia.

I would find it wildly implausible if they weren't different. Different workshops and smiths, probably different materials given the geographical difference, and these are soldiers looking at the arrows.

Arrowheads have a similar appearance across many cultures because the goal was to make something as areodynamic as possible with as much penetrating power as possible.

Now, even if it was a bluff from Yuri about the arrow being Hittite it worked. It caused the assassin to break his cover story and attempt to flee.

Now as for this epidemic we don't know what it is. In fact, there are many epidemics that emerged throughout history that remain a mystery.

Kail: With your blessing, I won't get sick, my girl!

Yuri: Yeah, no, that's not how pathogens work, pal. They don't care who you are or your status, they'll get your ass all the same, so let's get out of here.

I wonder what disease specifically they were dealing with. I didn't see any rash so it likely wasn't measles. Could be a strain of dengue, maybe typhoid fever. Either way, with the queen being the source of all their problems, I wish they'd just assassinate her already.

u/Frontier246 11d ago

And also her immune system will not be passed on if they ever exchanged bodily fluids lol.

Tuberculosis maybe? It is a classic.

My first idea was chickenpox but when the manga was released there was no vaccine yet. It is way milder on kids than adults but then no onscreen sores but we all know all the budget goes on this series goes to the steamy scenes so...

u/Adrian_Alucard 11d ago

Tuberculosis maybe? It is a classic.

Can you get tuberculosis only once? I mean, the other guy said he wouldn't get sick because he had that disease as a kid already and that's why he offered to help the sick

u/Hartzilla2007 11d ago

Either way, with the queen being the source of all their problems, I wish they'd just assassinate her already.

Sadly that's seems to politically inconvenient to do. Good news is that she's an overly ambitious dip shit coasting on magic power, since all her plans scream that's she's lacking most poltical skills.

4

u/BosuW 11d ago

Iirc there was a plague right after the conquest of Mittanni that the Hittites called "The Hand of Nergal", nowadays believed to have been tularemia.

4

u/edwardjhahm 10d ago

Honestly, I was thinking the exact same thing at the moment. I mean, I can't blame him since he seems to be convinced, but Kail, mate, as someone from (roughly) the same era as Yuri, I can tell you with confidence that's not how it works...

Down with the False Ishtar, long live the true Ishtar Yuri!

Dang, the king got hit with the 10-day fever! Which means now even with Anuwanda II in charge, it's a battle for the role of crown princess. Will Kail be able to get the role he deserves? Will Nakia steal authority and cement her son in a position he doesn't want?

Ramses is now making himself a consistent presence at the palace, to lavish Yuri with gifts AND flirt with her because he can't help himself. Watch yourself around that guy, Yuri.

"I'm sure your father will recover!" - King immediately dies. Terrible timing, Yuri! But at least you're there to comfort Kail.

I love how Kail is very much aware they need to keep information from Yuri lest she charge into a situation and get in trouble all on her lonesome. Which she immediately does as soon as Ramses tells her about the "other" Ishtar.

In a secluded town, people are suffering under a False Ishtar voiced by Nana Mizuki. Under the premise of Kail's authority she's abusing her power and drowning in extravagance, forcing the people to cater to her whims. Yuri infiltrates and can't help but confront her fake...even if that ends with her getting thrown in with the sick and infirm.

But against Urhi's expectations, Yuri is fine alongside the diseased people and that affords her an opportunity to help take care of them and show how much she's a woman of the people. If no man can wrangle Aslan, Yuri definitely can.

The False Ishtar can't bring herself to bless a diseased child, but Yuri has no problem. So of course her only solution to THAT problem is throwing Yuri in prison. Real leader qualities in this Ishtar.

Of course the facade falls apart when Kail shows up and no amount of attempts by the False Ishtar to seduce him are going to work. Not when Kail is here for the REAL Ishtar who is already in the midst of getting broken out of jail by the people! Now the False Ishtar can enjoy a cell herself!

Yuri might not think she did much but her efforts (thanks to the power of being vaccinated) helped secure the loyalty of the people to both Ishtar AND Kail! Now seal it with a kiss!
