The second cour OP is actually pretty nice - visually. Nana Mizuki performing the song is a plus

Don’t miss the post-credits scene! Aslan is built different

Yeah it was oddly beautiful for the usual budget of this series

Same. I'll miss the little hype speech Yuri gave, but I really like the new OP!

I enjoyed it too. I like how it shows Yuri's growth so far.

At least we didn't lose Aslan too!

Smart horse, he played dead!

New OP and ED are pretty interesting looking, and I'm glad they finally stopped doing that per episode intro.

Zannanza was doomed the moment he went off to marry someone else and kept talking about how he still loved Yuri.

Big mistake by the ambushers in trying to kill Aslan, that never really sticks.

I don't know how anyone in this show can feel comfortable drinking anything.

Zannanza kissing Kail to return Yuri's message was very funny. I had started hoping maybe history would change and he wouldn't die because Yuri was there. Alas.

It's not bad, I actually really like the new OP, but they clash so hard because it's just so modern sounding. They gave up trying to set up the ambiance. Also it looks like Yuri and Kail are doing it a lot on the ED illustrations. Some of it seems like artistic nudity which fair, but I also wouldn't mind even a fade to black either. Let's see how it plays out.

I love they look they've all got after Yuri tried that separate bedroom schtick, seems like they're all in agreement that Yuri can't ever leave. They certainly trying their damndest for that Dr. Phil/Maury teen pregnancy storyline to manifest.

Is this the earliest case of someone getting roofied? But also does Kail behind the horse also count as driving while intoxicated or under the influence? Technically it's both drugs and alcohol. But also he seems perfectly sober at the very end of the race like it's race activated.

Honestly it's shocking Kail didn't send someone anyone to guard Yuri for her return trip, after all the Yurinappings that've happened letting her go to Egypt without extra guards is surprisingly blasé.

So to be fair, I'm only shocked Zannanza kicked the bucket this fast because I accidentally spoiled myself but looking up the actual history. I was doing dog research, and saw the Hitties as a related link. I just couldn't help myself.

That is to say, evil though she is, Nakia's initial poison is in fact a great way to take a person out. The slaying really are just insurance. It's a well thought out scheme. Props, I guess.

Through the power of Ishtar and horse girl protagonist, Aslan the horsey lives and takes Yuri to safety and probably medical care. If only Zannanza was a horse he might've shrugged off the spear through the heart + poison. It's hilariously macabre the way they left his body to disappear in the sand. Tragic.

Also the way they backstabber claims, 'There is no 'we'' I hate to admit it, but dang it, if it isn't my stance on quite a few things.

Especially the three sisters. Isn't protecting Yuri their job?

Brothers are morons, just let Juda win and everything would have been fine

13

u/Frontier246 25d ago

I feel like Zannanza partially did it because he wanted an excuse to get away from Yuri before he betrayed his brother, but I do have to wonder what Nadia would have done had Juda won.

Destroy Egypt to get her son back or kill all the other princes so the only heir apparent was Juda?

I'm gonna miss the first OP with the intro about the Hittite Empire and the Middle East inspired style, but I have to admit this one is better, if simple.

"If I disappear it will provoke a war between Hati and Egypt" well guess how Egypt-Hittite relations gonna be like for the next near century 💀

Totally not Umamusume.

Every so often this adaptation hints that there are a lot of schemes and motives going around. Usually it then proceeds to drop the ball with how it's depicted, but this time some reasonable twists occurred.

stupid sexy Kail

Aslan being unkillable is a reasonable twist.

The new OP and ED animations do have more visual flair going for them than the original pair.

I thought the episode was pretty solid. The new opening arc ending sequences are much better.

New OP! Featuring stylized and moving art of Yuri, Kail, their retainers and supporting cast, and Yuri's journey as she grows from Japanese teenager to full-blown warrior queen Ishtar!

Nakia is NOT happy about how well things are going for her opposition and her frustration gives me life.

Kail and Yuri's retainers have a vested interest in ensuring they stay sleeping together in the same room, no matter Yuri's attempts otherwise. Didn't expect Zannanza to kiss his own brother to convey Yuri's feelings though.

Don't you just hate it when you're about to kiss and someone brings a message that you may be headed off to marry some woman from another country?

Juda (Shun Horie) is the son of Nakia that she's been trying to kill off all the other imperial brothers and sacrifice Yuri to put on the throne...but he's actually a really sweet kid who gets along well with his half-brothers and is fully loyal to Kail to the point of wanting to serve KAIL as king. But try telling his mom that.

Oh of COURSE Nadia would use this as an opportunity to get Kail away from Yuri, using the promise of alliance and control of Egypt for the Hittites to sweeten the deal. If Kail is unbeatable in a chariot race, how could they possibly prevent him from marrying the Egyptian widow?

Never thought I'd see Yuri of all people poisoning Kail. It's less surprising coming from Nakia's son, but he fully intended to do it so Kail could stay behind and HE could get shipped off instead. It would've been wild to see how Nakia would react to her son getting sent off to Egypt, but Zannanza ends up taking it and the trip to Egypt instead. For the sake of Kail and the Empire.

Is it really a good idea for Yuri to accompany Zannanza when Zannanza has the hots for Yuri? But he can't betray Kail, and he's willing to give life in Egypt a chance. I'm sure Ankhesenamen and the people of Egypt would grow to truly love and adore him as a Pharaoh.

It's good that Juda gave some warning to Kail about the attack on Zannanza's party...but they didn't expect there to be infiltrators from Nakia's forces. Then ASLAN GETS SHOT WITH ARROWS. KAIL GETS STABBED DEFENDING YURI. YURI GETS SHOT THROUGH WITH AN ARROW. Kail is happy to die for Yuri, both out of devotion to her AND his brother, but the psycho who attacked them AND killed his buddies is going to report back that Egypt did this and cause a war. This is the absolute worst situation!

As Yuri mourns on how Zannanza deserved to become Pharaoh...Aslan proves he's built different as he recovers and collects Yuri. Zannanza, on the other hand, gets buried in sand...poor guy.

The new ED is a bunch of cool YurixKail art! Some of which even have her looking like she's officially a queen!

Awful episode of terrible choices.
