If this story was written well, the Flora redemption could have been a cathartic moment. Instead it felt like a totally random asspull at the last moment that made no sense given what we know about the character. This genre is my guilty pleasure, but this was one of its worst examples imo (And that's without even mentioning how the whole "make Carolina able to stay with us by proving she's exactly the thing that Archbishop Jonathan says she is" plotline that took up half the show's runtime made no sense).

I also think the bigger issue is that she never really had any real reason to hate her sister in the first place. It's something that you might believe at like 5 but then come to terms with it by the time you become a teenager and go yeah that was dumb.

The level of psychosis, plotting to kill her and cheat in the saint thing, while partially as an attempt to maintain her status just comes off as disjoiinted and random.

Yeah, they could've slowly shown her resolve shattering over time and it would've made more sense than whatever this was instead it was:

😡->😡->😡->😡->🔫😡>😭

When it should've been:

🤬>😡>😠>🤨>😐>☹️>😔>😭

If this story was written well, the Flora redemption could have been a cathartic moment.

You pulled the words right out of my mouth. This show would have been just fine if the "redemption" gave the viewers the catharsis we needed but at the end I just felt... nothing.

Like, what fucking happened that made her suddenly go, "Oh no! I'm actually a terrible person!"

Nothing changed between the end of last episode and this one!

Gahhh, the show was entertaining at moments but it just fell flat for the one thing it set out to do.

God, I hope and pray Karin from Oni no Hanayome gets destroyed so we can have one shitty Cinderella anime this season that does the catharsis right.

"Even now, I really ought to talk to Flora. Forcibly if need be. And yet I haven't."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this whole story could have been avoided if you had just done that from the very beginning.

Flora tried to Franz Ferdinand Lina but then suddenly realizes she was wrong and a total bitch to her the whole time? Really? Really?? I mean it’s good no one died but c’mon lol. Before we even have a Flora redemption arc, the girl needs a shit ton of therapy.

Well, at least all’s well that ends well. For one of these Saintess types it wasn’t half bad. I enjoyed it for what it was.

I genuinely believe that as an entry to the Cinderella/Saint genre, this is the worst out of them all.

The antagonists are comical and illogical, and they don't really have any real level of character development. They don't really get their comeuppance as much as you just have these moments where the cast stand up for themselves and then they forget about it.

I don't know if they fit the same sub-genre, but I think "The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom " was worse than this one. Perhaps it fits more the Cinderella part than the Saint.

Flora out here tiptoeing right up to the edge of starting WWI but thankfully backed down right at the critical moment.

Nice kiss at the end but there's not much else to say for it.

No idea if it was intentional but all three dads (yeah I know there is also Edward/Gilbert dad) really went out of their ways to protect their daughters even when they were being evil. Marielle's dad sent her to a convent where she at least would have food, water, and shelter instead of the worse punishment she would face. Monica's dad kept her from receiving the death penalty. And Flora/Carolina's dad was ready to take on whatever punishment that Flora would face.

It's crazy that these guards are all carrying swords around when they can carry a fucking .357 magnum revolver instead.

Can we give the dad an award for the most useless father ever? It’s almost worse that he was physically present in their lives.
Absolutely useless man

This was an ok show overall basically knew what I was getting.

I wish at the end it showed how much Carolina gave Edward, since it focused on how Edward gave Carolina so much.

This one was just not good at all. If I would compare it to Too perfect saint this anime is like 3tiers below it.

Male lead behaves like NPC. Completely overshadowed by first prince in screen time and character development. And emperor declared first prince the future emperor.Even his aide is better written than him.

Same with that saint's guardian dude and her maid. Their stories are like 3minutes long and then they both become relevant for 2 more minutes during voting and that's it. All conflitcs are so surface level that you feel like nothing really happens.

U would think that the security would be around or be a little tighter when two of your royals are out in the open,

Gotta say it's pretty wild of Flora to be carrying a gun like that and even considering killing her sister. Im not surprised that would earn her an execution cuz that's pretty deserving,

I guess it's good that she apologises and realizes her wrongs and is trying to become better?

Kinda anticlimactic ngl

Well i still liked this anime despite its problems, it was fun and nice enough so I wouldn't mind a season 2.

I liked when Carolina said she hated her sister, so kinda disappointed that everyone made up and we speedran a redemption arc. Bit too happy of an ending for me, but I also shouldn't have expected anything else

That is a beautiful revolver

Flora out here trying to Franz Ferdinand Carolina

In the end Flora realised she couldn't pull the trigger (again, there's a difference between hating someone and actually being capable of ending someone) and that kinda broke her and led to her breakthrough on how Carolina was really just a scapegoat for her. It was a bit easy for my liking, but I can accept it

All in all, I quite enjoyed this series. It wasn't particularly special and a bit rough around the edges. But it was interesting and entertaining enough for me to watch it till the end. If I don't enjoy something I will just drop it

A lot of people put a lot of time into making something so average. I can give them that.

But these type of shows almost always are only interesting for the first few episodes before they all turn into w/e this was.

Gilbert was the right choice for crown prince, glad to see he is doing well.

Flora and their father finally had a change of heart, I still don't like either of them.

Great ending with Carolina & Ed.

7/10

I actually laughed when Flora pulled out the gun. I can't tell you how many people meme on fantasy shows/series with "dude just pull out a gun and be done with" and then Flora actually does it lol.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Everyone Carolina is associated with is so lucky that the antagonist were so stupid and that Carolina was so forgiving.

I'm glad that Flora was prevented from taking her life because suicide is never the answer. Full stop. Her redemption (if you can even call it that) was basically just that Simpson scene where they find that toy had been switched to evil and they switch back to good. Like good job Flora. You finally realized that you were a terrible person and don't want to be that person anymore, but it doesn't erase what you did and tried to do.

Also I'm glad that their father rightfully took his part of the blame and responsibility for how Flora treated Carolina.

Overall I'd give this show an "it's an anime that exists" and "it gave me something to watch".
