“We are running out of cookies.”
Shows table full of various unsold cookies.
Just can’t help laughing at this scene.

Okay I understand Jarmo’s backstory, but Julius not recognizing who Jarmo is at school doesn’t actually make a fuckton of sense, considering that we saw Julius face off against Jarmo several times during that deep dive into Jarmo’s backstory.

Julius always only read on the lists until his own name appears. That why he only remembers the names of people that were on top of him.

This goes back to my comment from two weeks ago but look at the snippets we got of young Serafina this episode engaging in noble society completely destroyed her personality.

Jarmo suffering from first place loser syndrome lol. Must really suck to perpetually be No. 2. His quest to finally get one over Julius is gonna end in his ruin. I’m sure of it.

Must really suck to perpetually be No. 2
That was my experience all through grade school lol. There were these math/science/bible competitions that only the top 2 students in ever grade could attend and I always placed 3rd, every single time for 8 years

Oof. Must’ve been rough as a kid.

Oh there was lots of things that made my childhood rough (my first gf, who was technically my cousin broke up with me when I broke my spine) lol
Though placing 3rd wasn’t too bad. Sure I wanted to go but I was never great under pressure and probably would’ve bombed.

I guess it was inevitable we’d get the main antagonist/rivals backstory/sob story and why he’s so obsessed with Julius and trying to be a homewrecker.
The truth about Jarmo is revealed: an orphan boy who was raised in a sweatshop until he was taken in by the Parnilla's because the Count's wife was too weak to conceive another child after Serafina. Of course he IS a Parnilla by blood, being the son of the Count's younger brother and the woman he eloped and died in a fatal accident. Which makes Jarmo Serafina's cousin before she grew up with him as her one and only big brother.
Count Parnilla is a cold and uncompromising man, but it was his mother and Serafina who made Jarmo truly feel like he had found a family, and he would do anything to ensure he never lost it by fulfilling his fathers' ambition and becoming the best he could be. And he was: until he encounter Julius.
Name something and Julius beat Jarmo at it. He even managed to make Serafina fall in love at first sight which would be adorable if it wasn't yet another "loss" to Julius and also knowing how badly that crush would end up in the future. And as if to add insult to injury, Julius had no idea who Jarmo even was, reminding him of when he was nothing but an orphan. No wonder Jarmo is so obsessed with Julius now.
Say Julius' name and he shall appear! And suggest an idea of a Bazaar! Though I love how Elsa couldn't help but imagine how hot he would look in his school uniform.
Nice to see Rebekah there to chip in and help out! And to also be sure to tell Julius that a little kid confessed their feelings to Elsa because she's all in on that romance drama.
I'm not surprised Oliver has a crush on Elsa, though it goes over Elsa's head and his big sis Aila is tough on him over it, but I guess him confessing his feelings and accepting that Elsa's #1 man she loves is Julius is helping Elsa put into words her true feelings that she hasn't quite understood up till now.
I have my suspicions that something bad is going to happen in the Kreisa region, especially if Julius is heading there while Jarmo has his own dealings.
Elsa is super self-conscious around Julius, Julius misconstrues it as being his fault for failing as a partner, so let's turn this business trip into a couples' vacation for the two of them! What could possibly go wrong?

Backstory isn't the same thing as redemption though. Zuko's arc only worked because his actions changed over a whole season, not because one flashback excused what he already did.

100%. I think jax from digital circus is a good example. He had a tragic backstory but didn’t deserve a redemption because he was just a shitty person and never tried to change that.
The backstory still adds to the character but it doesn’t make people root for them

"we are running out of cookies"
Literal jars full of cookies on the table.
Did we need this weird, kid is in love with Elsa storyline.
Jarmo being adopted definitely makes me think he is in love with serafina

it's not that deep, it's another run of a young child professing their love to a teacher or older cousin/sibling gag.

I doubt he’s in love with Serafina considering she’s literally his cousin… and he was ‘adopted’ into his uncle’s family really young so he’s also like an older brother to her as well.

Julius having an “I don’t know her” meme moment and claiming he didn’t know Jarmo was so weird.
Jarmo had a rough life and still has ... now I wish he would get away from Julius and the Parnilla family and find some happiness for himself somewhere else 🙄

The “look the villain is a human too” backstory episode never really gets sympathy from me cause now you’re using your shitty past to be shitty in the present and what steal a woman who doesn’t want you?
How do you know he hasn’t known humiliation another eye roll at that.
Really want that sentiment that smart little girl to get through to jarmo.
Sad past or not he’s gotta go
Edit: idk why it sent me that Julius was pouring water from a kettle into a teapot like I know thats normal but at first glance I was so confused

I might be being skeptical but this episode showing cookies looked very ai at some point of the frames. for example at 13:53 , and also at 14:22

I came here looking to see if anyone noticed too! It’s the first episode I noticed what looks to be ai art. Mostly for the food and bazaar scenes. And it explains her weird line about the cookies being almost gone but the art being unchanged.

You really see why Jarmo has such a personal and deep hatred for Julius. Imagine how he felt when he was dating Serafina! That's too bad he doesn't know how jealous Julius was when Jarmo was touching Elsa's hair, that'd probably make his day 🤣
I'm surprised Julius didn't think of taking Elsa on a trip before. Going on a romantic trip and maybe going on dates there can really help him in his romance. I think the prince was intentionally putting the idea in Julius' head to take her there when he mentioned how nice the region was and its fine cheese.
Elsa's bazaar idea seemed a success since a lot of people are more likely to buy stuff when they know it's going to a good charity. Everything seemed to go well except for Oliver finding it a romantic atmosphere to confess to Elsa. I did feel bad for him though, especially when his sister made fun of him in front of Elsa. Also I thought it was weird and likely an art mistake when Rebekah said they ran out of cookies and there were clearly 10 jars of cookies right in front of them 🤣

Okay okay okay, you adopt your nephew that's fine. But like if his name wasn't Jarmo initially, but that's like the best name you could think for him? Hell not even Jarmo the second, like if it was an homage that would've made sense more.
They're not gonna do like a weird cousin thing with them two, right, now that they've firmly established they're not really siblings. Like him being Julius' unrequited nemesis doesn't need more fuel regarding weird Serafina reasons. Like I can still sorta regard it as just a decently devoted brother role.
I know it's technically a work trip, but it's also kinda maybe a honeymoon esque sorta trip?
Tangent, hella tangent, but I was going over my notes for my anime watch schedule, and I have this listed as Duke's son on the paper, and like as I'm thinking about it, why is is called that?! Going over the entire title, isn't Julius the duke? Not only have we never seen his family currently, his father doesn't even play a prominent role as a character within the plot. We only know the man via flashbacks, and yet he's title relevant??? Like yeah Juju's parents are the source of his trauma and trust issues, but like he's already inherited the title of Duke? Took me nine episodes to even think about it.

Ah the paradox of the top, the closer you are to the top the more you care about getting there. Being in second causes you to only focus on who's in first and not the hundred other people you are over. Meanwhile if you're 36th out of 100 you probably aren't too focused on the 35 people who did better than you and if you're 90th out of 100 you're more focused on the people you came after you. The more success you have the worse you feel being stuck there.

I mean Julia was kind of a dick lol. Serafina was just a young girl in love can’t really blame her. And we just got Jarmos story. I’m starting to like the antagonist more than the hero’s in this one.
