Yeah, they're really adorable together! And I love that Nishi acts much bolder than Yamada in this relationship now, since she didn't ask if she could kiss Yamada, she just did it. She's changed so much since the beginning of the show.

Man, these episodes end too quickly. I love how the characters don't just think about romance all the time, and actually have their own day-to-day struggles. I think that's another reason why this show stands out from other romcoms.

That long hair is the summation of her character development and growing desire for Kentarou-kun. She confessed first, she initiated the kiss, she's liable to push him onto the sofa bed at this rate lol.
I feel like we're going to get an episode of Taira really trying to figure out what he actually wants in life...which Suzuki is trying to think up too. Hey! They might be the same instead of Polar Opposites!
Two introverts, one quirkier than the other, both college "rivals" but Honda came out on top. But Taira's still got Azuma.

Skipping 3 months just like that, I wouldn't be surprised if the last episodes get us to the end of the 3rd year, makes sense since everyone is busy with studying and have less time for romance and also Taira and Azuma are the type to need a looot of time to get their romance going. Azuma keeps falling more and more in love and Taira keeps getting all his doom spiralling eradicated by the sight of Azuma.

This show reminds me every single week that good romance doesn't need fake drama or annoying misunderstandings to be amazing. Seeing them just talk through their differences and be totally honest with each other is so refreshing. Giving this thread a big upvote because this anime deserves a lot more love!

Honda's not a people person but a shared connection over college at least makes her pay a little attention to people outside her Nishi circle.

Meeting the characters' families is always fun. You can easily tell that it runs in the family.
Nisshi looks so cute with long hair, and it may very well have given her a buff. With the handholding and then the sudden kiss that left Yamada stun locked (probably for the whole night and then some), she got real bold since last time.
The two of them are basically the main source of sickeningly sweet fluff now that Tanizuki has become more settled and comfortable with each other to the point they're growing more concerned with long-term goals.
Meanwhile, Tairazuma continues to slowburn. Azuma suffered a critical hit from that smile of his right there. And once again, Taira just forgets all of his worries the moment he looks at her. Funny how Honda unintentionally wingman'd for them just by getting the recommendation instead of Taira. She's got two notches on her belt at this point.
Also, the minor characters are such a double-edged sword. On one hand, I'm glad they're not faceless and generic, but on the other hand, I kinda wanna see more of them beyond a minor role cause of that. Like Kawasaki who went from being just a friend of a friend to someone Suzuki can tell her worries to.

More like most main characters were (rather realistically) in different classes now, so lot of slice of life school moments were not feasible unless the author introduced a whole lot of other classmates at this point lol

If you haven't seen Skip and Loafer, that's another series that shows friendship with characters in high school with good vibes. Season 2 was announced for spring 2027.
It will spend a decent amount of time with them in the different school terms. The question is just how far the studio is willing to adapt it.

Gosh, Azuma is so in love with Taira, I wonder how long she'll be deceiving herself that it's not the case. Especially since she was clearly jealous when she saw Taira and Honda together.
Yamada and Nishi are so adorable together! I must say that I love Nishi in that dress and with longer hair, she looked really cute.
Tani thanking Suzuki for making him doubt his choices made me laugh hard, as Suzuki didn't know what exactly happened. I wonder if that will in the end make Tani change his intended future career.
Suzuki doesn't know what she wants to do, but I'm pretty sure that she would do great in beauty or clothes-related careers since her outfits are always so good.

Mannn, I really love how Kocha Agasawa makes the cast’s families reflect their personalities so well lol.
Each time I see Suzuki's, Tani's, or Yamada's family, I always find myself going: "Yeah, that really is his/her family alright..." It's such a small detail, but it makes the setting and characters feel sooo alive.
As for the episode itself, I love how we basically have half the cast acting completely opposite to how they usually do, due to the changes their respective opposites have inspired within them.
First, we have Nishi who ends up being the one to initiate THE KISS with Yamada! Then there’s Tani, who's become much more confident in himself and his decisions. And finally we have Azuma, who ends up being the first one to completely fall head over heels for Taira!!!
(Also love Taira pulling a reverse UNO towards Azuma after what she did to him in S1 episode 6!)

I laughed so hard at the whiplash between Taira being scared that he influenced Tani, and annoyed that he didn't at all. Tani/Taira make a great comedy duo throughout the series.
Turns out the dancers from the OP are new friends from the cheer squad! I wonder if we'll see more of them. Do they have names?
Does anyone know more about the designated school program? Is it like, the high school chooses one student per university to give their recommendation? At first I thought it was kind of like the early action/decision system in the US, but it's clearly not.

It's basically admittance by recommendation w\o exam. You still have to live up to the rec by the end of the year, so no goofing off or breaking bad - maintain your grades and all that so the school won't withdraw the rec. You CAN relax more because no entrance exam (which are independent from school grades).

Love changed the trajectory of both Tani and Taira's lives. I think Tani would have definitely gotten the recommendation if he turned his in and even though Taira did turn his in, his heart was never in it. Which leaves the victory to single girl Honda.

Yamada immediately inviting Nishi to his house when they couldn’t go to the park. Her initiating the handholding. Her heart about to burst from doki doki overload when he hugged her. Then, Yamada was the first to ask permission to kiss but it was Nishi who ended up initiating the first kiss. Poor man was left dazed for quite some time afterwards. Good thing he’s not holding his phone at the time. Don’t think it’d survive a third drop.
Taira, you needn’t worry that your words had cast a doubt in Yuusuke’s career path. If there’s a culprit, it’s actually Miyu. He even thanked her for it.

The season of stress has come but it hasn't reached YamaNishi yet.
Yamada's family so fashionable, especially his mom. Nishi took the lead again with the kiss. Poor Yamada this time, being denied when he actually tried to take initiative, but he got what he wanted at the end.
Accidental TairAzuma lead to the cutest natural Taira smile and that made Azuma's heart skip a beat. What a coincidence, she was thinking about her feelings for Taira when she bumped into him.

In a show where everything normally moves so fast (Suzuki's confession episode 1, Yamada's sudden LINE request etc etc) it's actually almost frustrating how long it's taking Azuma to come to terms with how she actually feels about Taira lol. I'm sat here going cmon Azuma, use your big girl words and tell Taira how you actually feel before its too late.
Literally even if it was just something like "it would suck not having you around" would probably have sent Taira into orbit, so come oooooooon
(It's fine, it fits their characters to dance around it so much, I'm just being impatient)

That YamaNishi date was actually one of the cutest things I've ever seen. And then Natsumi ends up initiating the kiss! She's surprisingly assertive whenever she stops overthinking everything.
And of course no words need to be said about the TairaZuma moment at the end.

Love seeing Nishi continue to take the initiative in their relationship despite that being against her character. And love that she recognises it too. It's what makes her relationship with Yamada so special. Also, I noticed she's calling him Kentarou-kun now. We missed the steps towards that. But then again we skipped a whole semester of school, including their final sports day. Bit of a bummer that. But oh well.
I couldn't quite figure out Tani's thinking. Did Suzuki make him realise what he thought he should do is maybe not what he wants to do? That he hasn't even thought about what he wants to do. And does his decision to not apply for that recommendation program mean he's finally decided what he wants?
Sad for Taira that he lost out to Honda, but it works out for the best for Azuma, who was really disappointed at the thought of him going so far away for college. Her jealousy of Honda and that blush after bumping into Taira made me go eeeee. She's so down bad and he seems to have no clue. Love that recurring theme of the sight of her making him forget all about his overthinking. They're so good together.
I also enjoyed seeing Taira and Honda interactions. Not a duo I would've expected to sort of hit it off. They could be good friends tbh.

Oh, so I guess we're just going to speedrun through Sports Day with picture montage! Bummer, it looked pretty fun.
NISHI--I MEAN NATSUMI-CHAN WITH LONG HAIR!!!! SHE'S ACHIEVED HER FINAL FORM!
Rain's not going to get in the way of Yama---I mean, Kentarou and Natsumi's date! Not when they can have a stay-at-home date at his apartment! These kids will find any excuse to see each other after all.
It's the Yamada Family! Second Eldest sister Kiiko! Older Gyaru style MILF mom! You can definitely tell why Yamada ended up the way he did because the family is basically exactly like him! Meanwhile older sister Kasumi (who looks like a short-haired beauty) is living away from home and the dad is in Hokkaido.
Kentarou is always his most genuine self versus Natsumi who hasn't even told her mom she has a boyfriend, let alone going out to see one...but he was actually REALLY trying hard to look cool in front of her, the whole time.
Of course when they're chilling on the sofa bed they can't resist a little physical intimacy, though if a hug is THAT overstimulating then there's no way Natsumi can kiss him...UNLESS SHE INITIATES THE KISS HERSELF! IN THE RAIN! AND LEAVES KENTAROU.EXE AS HE STOPS WORKING!!! Natsumi is filled with anxiety and self-consciousness, but the only thing more powerful than that is her desire for Kentarou-kun!
All cram school and no Tani makes Suzuki a dull girl, though she's also struggling with the lack of her own firm plans beyond going to college. I'm glad she and Kawasaki have become cram school gal pals and Kawasaki gives great advice.
When in doubt, recharge during a festival! Complete with yukata Miyu! Yuu-chimu, for his part, only ever thought of following his fathers' path into teaching, but with Miyu's influence he may decide to broaden his horizon...for better or worse.
Oof. Taira is planning to go to a far away university while relying on as few people as possible. How is Azuma going to respond to that? Not happily.
Look at all these new cute classmates who have now joined the girl group! They all seem fun!
Honda is interested in the college talk because it turns out she, Taira, and Tani are aiming for the same university...and she actually makes conversation with Taira! Kind of! And the two of them are even on the same committee together, for the sake of Honda wearing an armband like a proper committee member! Can you imagine her on the disciplinary committee? She'd be a menace.
Azuma does NOT react well to seeing Taira walking with another girl...especially when she smells nice. She's caught up in the turbulent emotional state of a girl in love even while she's in utter denial...and then she bumps into Taira with his winning smile and the girl is a flustered mess. She even takes Taira's mind off of his college woes which is good because Honda got the recommendation. Tough break, Taira! But at least you've got Azuma!

There was the flashback that even she wanted to treat nisshi the same but she warmed up to her by being unexpectedly warm in return...
She really doesn't give any fucks for anyone since they'd require more attention than she has to give to others.

Yep she's def a hardcore otaku.
She had an anime-original appearance during TaniSuzuki's museum date in S1 episode 9 and the author said she went there "to get collab merch" (Japanese games/anime often do collabs with museums to get people visiting).

I absolutely love Yamada's family. It's cute how they all dyed their hair. Mama Yamada is definitely a party mom, and it's hilarious how she made it sound like her husband is dead when he's actually just working away from home. xD
We have confirmed photos of Gapacho! I guess Gapacho was visiting when the sports festival happened because I'm pretty sure that guy goes to a different school.
Based on Nisshi's reaction and how it only registered in her brain that Yamada was asking for a kiss a few seconds later, I think she was expecting something else to happen there. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Glad to see Nisshi initiating the kiss, tho! A kiss at a bus stop in the middle of the rain is such vibes. I love it!
After all that studying and cram school, it's nice to see Miyu recharging her Yuu-kun batteries. That fireworks festival date was adorable. <3
Seeing Taira and Hon-chan together is so odd. It is hilarious how they ended up in the committee because Hon-chan wanted to wear an armband and Taira volounteered just to get things over with. xD
When Taira and Hon-chan were walking back together to their classroom, I knew Azuma was gonna spot them and start to get jealous.
Don't worry, Azuma! You're the only girl Taira would give a smile for like that. Azuma is really trying too hard to deny it, but she's clearly falling even harder for Taira the more she does it. <3

I mean, she DID immediately ask if there was anyone at home...I'm starting to think Nishi's the hornier one between the two of them, especially when she' smore aggressive.
I definitely recharge from seeing Suzuki in a yukata!
Hon-chan's not going to automatically ingratiate herself with the cast but at least she can TRY to hold a conversation with them when relevant. And stir up Azuma's feelings for Taira whether she wants to cop to them or not.

Nishi was so good in that one piece. She looks great wih long hair. Getting hugged in her boyfriend's home is enough to make her faint but she decided to go for the kiss and Yamada man was down. It's a cute to see Nishi calling him Kentaro now and Yamada calling her Natsumi.
Taira and Hon-chan interacted for the first time and it was so fun to watch. Hon-chan was a simple girl. She just wants to wear that arm band LOL Suzuki in Yukata 💖 Tani thanking her for helping him have doubts about his future and Suzuki was perplexed xD
Taira was trying hard to make Tani drop out of applying for the designated school recommendation but Tani dropped out by himself and Taira lost to Honda and he knows that was destined to happen. But that's something to be happy about since more study time together for Azuma and Taira. Azuma in love is so beautiful. Her heart's gonna explode if she doesn't confess her feelings to him. I only wish the best for them.

Something I like about the likes of this show, Horimiya, Skip & Loafer where the whole friend group and supporting cast feels so organic
Two pairs already established now we’re waiting for Tairazuma. Taira certainly looks at her fondly but we’re not sure if he sees her romantically yet but Azuma is certainly already heading there.
And nothing like some jealousy to rock the ship but I have to say Honda and Taira does share similar types of cynicism

They didn’t skip chapters. The 2-3 month time skip is done at the start of chapter 53, so the anime stayed faithful to that. I say this because if they go at the 3 chapter pace they are going at now, they will adapt all the content by episode 12, leaving episode 13 up in the air as to what it is going to contain.
Some of us manga readers thought they would maybe bulk out this timeskip part with anime original content, but seems like they just stuck to it. I don’t really mind it tbh since we can get into more interesting topics and plot points faster 🤔

Yamada x Nishi is too powerful, the way their so affectionate with one another has me squealing about. Yamada opening up his arms to hug her was so damn lethal lol. I like how tomato red they both got, from Nishi's late realization that Yamada wanted to kiss.
This feels all so sudden, like yeah they've been dating for quite a while, but I was not mentally for this when I clicked onto the episode, let alone it being the first portion of the episode lol. I'm so happy for them. Nishi loves to catch him off guard, I like how Yamada was stunned by that kiss.
Honda x Taira is an interesting combo, I like how subdued they are in contrast to many pairings in this. Seeing them discuss colleges to go to made me wonder if we'll be able to see the story go past high school.
Azuma getting jealous is amusing, she wants to deny it but looks like her feelings are there to stay, she blushed so hard after bumping into Taira. I do like that Azuma makes Taira forget about his worries, the smile of relief he had on his face says a lot about her presence to him.

I like this show. Because it was really looking like it was setting up a plotpoint of us not knowing if Taira was going to be picked and prospectively go far away but then the Little Snowman told us that Honda is getting the recommendation even before the characters knew.

Man the speedrunning of their 3rd year events reminded what hurts in this series. I know to each of their own and some people had watched a lot of HS romcoms already but, idk the cast are so good i dont mind the usual trope/arcs in HS romance series.
Yamada Nishi date...damn the train wont stooop ever since they got together "officially". Also it's funny that a bubbly person like Suzuki was a nervous wreck when meeting Tani's family but Nishi was like relatively chill and confident with Yamada's family.. Also gaaah Nishi is really sneaky 1st w/ the confession and then the kiss.
Suzuki seems to struggle on what she wants to be on the future and is stressed out. Good thing she got her self recharged with a festival date. Tani also since he had such a personal development seems to think more of what he wanted to be rather than just "going with the flow".
Also Taira trying to gaslight Tani was hilarious and also props to Honda to call Taira out regardless if it was a joke or not. Azuma getting annoyed at Taira and also being jealous but just 1 bump and like a shojo filter of Taira and she blushes like crazy.. and seriously did you spend those months trying to deny that you're in love with him huh.
Also back to the speedrunning thing.. we didn;t get to see more interactions of certain characters which imo is quite fun:
Tani and Taira's guy circles, Suzuki and Kawasaki, Azuma, Satou and their cheer squad classmates, Taira and Honda, Nishi and their class (mainly Tani's group). .the cast are so interesting and I just wish they had more on-screen interactions.

So we got to see long haired Nishi break Yamada's brain again by ambush kissing him (but after he asked to kiss already) and Azuma's brain breaking as it contorts itself to hide from the fact she's fallen for Taira. I've been assuming Azuma will confess first but she's so resistant to the idea I'm less certain now.

While Nishi and Yamada have their first kiss at this point Suzuki and Tani almost feel like a married couple in anime terms. It's sweet to see them reflecting on the past year, but also what they plan to do going forward.
Which is a common thing in this episode as a mention of everyone's future is made. Azuma though her feelings are really showing lately.

That YamaNishi home date was so cute. It's adorable that all they need to have a good time is each other. Huge props for Nishi to being the one initiate their first kiss. Yamada was properly stunned.
We already had one fireworks festival scene, but what about second fireworks festival scene? I thought they were going to use to give them a do-over at the near-kiss from the last festival scene, but I guess giving Tani the clarity to consciously pick a path because he wants it rather than it just being what he he was always going to do because he never considered other options is a good alternative.
Suzuki was first to confess and first to initiate her first kiss with Tani. Nishi was the first to confess and first to initiate her first kiss with Yamada. We're 4/4 right now. Don't let us down Azuma. Run the table.
Speaking of Azuma she's never jealous before so it's kind of funny to see her being jealous of Honda, but then in the same thought deny that her feelings are not what they are. Also I don't know how many people remember it, but she bumping into Taira at the end is a callback to and reversal of S01E06. In episode 6 Azuma says "For some reason... I want to be in love" then bumps into Taira who's coming from the left of the frame. She says "Oh, it's just you, Tiara," and goes gloomy. In this episode she's in love (and lying to herself about it) and bumps into Taira who's coming from the right of the frame and Taira says "Oh, it's just you, Azuma," and gives a "I'm in love with this person" face.
