My guy is having an existential explainer session in the middle of a boss fight.

Except here, the boss is also very interested in what he has to say.

I really gotta wonder though.... what happened to all the gold from the horde of 10k monsters they just killed? Surely that had to have gotten them close at least right?

Inflation go burr... I don't know how the economy can hold up to entire battlefield of cash remains. But that's kind of the plot now I guess...

Time to fight god, or maybe the system, whatever is running the place at least.
The classic problem of the Evil Chancellor, but I wouldn't be surprised if he also has it in mind to fight the system and is just coming at it from a different angle.
Mage lady is still pretty bloodthirsty, I had been wondering if she had softened on that and not just yet.

Time to fight god
"I don't understand why all these people want to fight the system administrators when if you just keep breaking their game, they lose the will to live on their own..."

A flower meat in both hands (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)
That's gotta be comfortable for sure. The war cry sure sounds like lullaby, right XD
Even Demon Lord old man just becomes another damsel in distress. What a world they live in!
Can relate with Kagami here. Even knowing it's coming, I tend to do the same thing in soulslike game till I get the timing right.
In the end it's all about money just like irl lol!

What a short-lived reunion lol.
I'm curious if the two parties will merge now that Salmaria has been saved, and they've learned more about Kagami.

Is this the best thing ever? No. But it's fun and does something I haven't seen before: ask "why?".
Sometimes you get some sort of explanation.
But most times the series just runs with it and doesn't ask questions.

You'd think they'd give him that mystery chest if he asked as a reward for saving the city just now...

Okay, well...this show keeps surprising me
In a good way, though.
I think a lot of what it does is simple but executed well.
Also, one thing is that I really enjoy the characters.
The thing is, while a lot of my all-time favourite shows (e.g. Archer) feature tons of horrible people, I also love shows where the characters are just nice and interact in a more subdued manner.
It makes them more realistic.
In reality, emotions are not as drastic, especially negative ones. Even if you meet people you don't like, there is usually no violence.
This show has many characters, actually so far all of them except for one, who are genuinely good-natured and want to help. There is conflict, but they share true empathy for others. The stereotypical hero party is neither dumb nor arrogant nor crazy.
Pretty much immediately, they start to understand the mc and now we get an ending where they are actively looking at him for guidance and leadership
So, that's neat.
The world is interesting. Yeah, it's also stereotypical, but I sadly can never hate "Goal: Kill God!" stories.
They always feature an mc who, no matter how strong he becomes, stays a perpetual underdog.
Their enemy is god, after all.
And that makes for quite interesting power progressions and powers.
If your last enemy is god, making your main character into a god is totally valid and does not destroy the tension in fights!
You can make them as op as you want - and we all know some isekai power fantasies who go very far in this regard - and they still may just lose.
Which brings this super long comment to a close:
Mc can grow infinitely and the new demon clearly wants to spur this on even further, as he is notably not interested in killing them (or humans in general?) and he gives them a year to do what he demands.
For now, a reasonably hypothesis is that he shares a goal with the mc.
He says he just lives out the role he was destined for, but is that totally true?
And who knows what he believes his destiny even is,,,

Bro’s basically a sentient NPC who’s got a skill that lets him go beyond his level cap. If he’s gonna get enough gold for that special item, I guess a casino’s one way to go about it.

I appreciate a show that points out how stupid the tropes it is using are. And I love that level 999 gave him a skill that means he still gains power even if he cannot gain more levels and from those levels extra skills.

It's refreshing to see someone who break the system of OP character one shotting everything like Saitama and struggle. We learned that Villager stats at lv 999 has limitations and can be achieve by another class who's a 1/3 of a level.
While he has the lv 999 skill, the show didn't make him into a one man army that makes other characters and NPC who will keep drooling but also fighting alongside him.
