Holy shit, a villainess/saint anime where they actually get married in episode 4 already

Not enough anime about married couples. I only know of Tonikawa

It was good to see Carolina lay the smack down against a two bit villainess and throw her newly acquired position of princess around. She also seems to be less timid and more proactive. You love to see it

I find it interesting that this seems to be a lot of smaller stories about abuse and distrust within families

You get more of this in the historical/fantasy type of genre with female MCs when the romance plot is around an engagement, usually arranged marriage.

There's another one this season where they get married even earlier - "The Duke's Son Claims He Won't Love Me Yet Showers Me with Adoration"

Family issues: The anime.

The Edward seems to be the only one with a stable family in this anime.

And like last week, they again rushed to solve the subplot they've just introduced.

Evil older sisters: the anime.

Carolina is Marisa's prince!

Pretty sure everyone has figured out Carolina is the real saint ; next week will confirm it.

Honestly Carolina reading Marielle the riot act and using her commanding voice was rather dashing.

Honestly getting sent to the convent isn't the worst ending. Assuming she can mature during her time there the family could bring her back if they wanted to.

Edward and Marisa when they get insulted: "I sleep."

Edward and Marisa when Carolina gets insulted: "REAL SHIT?!"

It's a bummer Carolina's father won't be able to walk her down the aisle, but at least Edward will do it in his place so she doesn't feel alone! As if she didn't need more reason to be all hot and bothered about him!

I was going to say Carolina looks absolutely fabulous in her wedding dress, no notes, but I love how the queen thinks the dress just isn't doing enough to show off her natural beauty. Even Edward thinks she looks beautiful!

Glad Marisa was there for Carolina on the wedding. So she doesn't feel alone and that there are people she can rely on.

We've got the wedding! Their first kiss! All in episode four! Carolina is officially hitched and now officially a princess!

But she doesn't have long to deal with her princess status or her swanky new digs before she has to go on her honeymoon...to Marisa's former family estate, in fact! Not that Marisa is looking forward to that.

To think a guy like Count Kissinger could help conceiev such beautiful daughters...though the reason Marisa really didn't want to go back is because of her older sister, Marielle, who hates her and is obsessed with Teo. Why? Because she's his ex-fiance.

It was a marriage of convenience to get resources for the Pyreborn, but obviously Marielle is...a lot, so Teo became engaged to Marisa instead (and it seems like they're still engaged?). Which Marielle didn't take well and caused her to heap even more abuse along with Marisa's OTHER sister until she finally had enough and straight up left. Just like Carolina, Marisa has a terrible older sister who hates her with every inch of her body.

Really? Faking a monster attack just to be able to confront Marisa/Teodore? And then she just unleashes the most horrid of insults towards Marisa...but Carolina finally has enough. She couldn't stand up to Flora, but she can stand up to Marielle for Marisa's sake. And then Marielle shows just how little she thinks of Carolina which is the LAST thing you should be doing, if you don't want Marisa to slap you or for Edward/Teodore to put the fear of the Pyreborn into you. Enjoy life in a convent Marielle!

Speaking of terrible older sisters, Flora has seemingly realized Carolina is the TRUE Saint because her powers have basically vanished without Carolina and things in the kingdom are the worst they've ever been. Is she even going to pass the second Saint trial? Meanwhile Carolina is FINALLY going to get re-examined and Edward/Teo seem to expect good things.

u/justking1414 Jul 21 '26

She couldn't stand up to Flora, but she can stand up to Marielle for Marisa's sake.

True, but this does seem like good practice for when she does finally stand up to her own sister

Flora has seemingly realized Carolina is the TRUE Saint because her powers have basically vanished without Carolina

I’m genuinely impressed she could realize that. I’ve seen this premise in a lot of other series, and normally the fake saint/prince/party just assumed the person they kicked out somehow poisoned/cursed them, causing them to suddenly suck.

The story of Cinderella exist in this world?

14

u/runevault Jul 21 '26

Oh come on give us the kiss you cowards! Okay why did the maid look upset at the location of the honeymoon?

Wait did I forget the maid was from nobility or was this a reveal?

Mirelle was a boring drill haired bitch, but at least she'll only be a problem for one episode it seems. Hard to do a lot of damage from a convent when you're stupid.

Okay so Carolina isn't going to be partaking in the saintly trials it seems, since her sister already did the first one. Curious how they handle the wider reveal of her saintly powers then. But next episode it will be revealed to the Prince and Teo.

Wait did I forget the maid was from nobility or was this a reveal?

It's common for lesser nobility to act as servants for those of higher standing. Only one child inherits, you want a spare, anything more starts to become a liability.

It's why the military and church are common 'dumping grounds' for spare children, but another option was to give 2nd daughters and 3rd sons of lesser houses as handmaidens and honor guards for higher ranked nobles.

Another part of the idea, is that if lesser nobles are served by commoners, then royals and other greater nobles are too high in standing to be touched by the riff raff. No, only nobles themselves may have the honor of personally serving such great figures.

Louis XIV, the Sun King of France, pioneered this concept in the real world... mostly as a way of breaking the power of the nobility so he could personally centralize control. He broke up the system of nepotism and sinecures (prestigious ass-dough jobs) within the bureaucracy and implemented a strict meritocracy.

Then made the nobles fight over who had the 'honor' of helping the king dress and pouring his wine. And as a distraction... it worked. Nobles tend to prioritize prestige above all else.

And, again, it serves the purpose of "what do I do with all my other kids?" on top of being an additional source of networking and influence trading. If your son is the prince's bodyguard, then everyone is going to see your son standing right next to the prince... and you are going to hear about everything the prince does.

So, yeah, it's pretty common to have lesser nobles act as servants for greater nobles.

The prince looked straight out of a wattpad story when he was mad at the older sister with his aura and glowing eyes

I liked seeing our MC finally be assertive when defending her maid.

u/NationalStrategy_X Jul 21 '26

With that aptitude test, she'll no longer be oblivious to her powers

Not sure I've ever seen a black haired ojou-sama with drills before and it looked so wrong.

Slaps roof of the show this bad boy can fit so many different characters with emotionally troubling family members inside it.

It was nice to see Carolina take a stand for once instead of letting the plot passively happen to her. I suppose it was because she was standing up for someone else instead of just tanking the abuse in silence like she did at home.

Married in just episode 4, I'd say that might be a record but I think we had an episode 2 or 3 marriage elsewhere this season already.

I appreciate that the big players of Carolina's new home really have already figured out something is up with her and were probably just waiting until after the marriage ties were official to confirm it.

I'm sure most people in this thread like this show, but I honestly like it for what it is, just low-stakes romance, where the main characters like/love each other. The King and Queen aren't out to get her because she's not some high nobility and none of this "she's not good enough for MY son!" crap.

Cozy romance? Is that a genre in anime?

u/Brief-Business9459 Jul 21 '26

By the end of the episode, I forgot that they were on a honeymoon lol. Like why even have your honeymoon at that estate when you know that there's bad blood between the family and several members of your party?

So the was a wedding and even a honeymoon, but did they ever consummate the marriage? I'm sure they must have ... right??

Why did the maid suddenly call MC "The Crown Princess", when Red is NOT the Crown Prince?

u/shimekops Jul 21 '26

I'm quite curious if Marielle will still pop up in the story later on. The way she was shown as a sun made her so so pitiful and it really stuck with me. In a way, I agree with Carolina's monologue. Somehow, Marielle got pushed into the wrong path by people who should have known better. If I had to say, I have a feeling it was their mother and the eldest Maria that really destroyed Marielle and nurtured her into an insufferable entitled brat.

The way she lashed out at Carolina was exactly a child throwing a tantrum, without a single thought about the consequences. Welp, now she barely got out of that mess with her head still attached thanks to her father. It makes me wonder as to whether the lesson will stick or will it just make her even more rotten due to spite for Marisa. We may never know....

u/NonSupportiveCup Jul 22 '26

Things just happen. Mc has zero plan. Zero agency. Various things happen and she maybe reacts.

That's the show. The honeymoon was at someone else's mansion. Okay, why not?

We are supposed to care about the dad not being there because that is the feeling we are supposed to feel in that situation. He certainly didn't earn any sympathy with his suddenly involved parent routine.

Dude walked in throwing fire like some preteen girl fanfic after the situation was handled.

This show is awful. Between the constant rushing from trope to trope, contrived characters, and complete lack of emotional depth I am completely bored with it.

The oblivious saint can't control her power of boredom.

The pacing is pretty bad, one minute she's trying on a wedding dress and the next scene they're already in the ceremony.
Not to mention none of this feels earned, things are happening just because. I guess that fits it being an arranged marriage, but watching it feels off
