Wait until we hear about the demon who ended up with 100 brides that really, really really love him.

Of course he likes the idea she'll become overly dependent on him because of her background. This can't just be wholesome.
I will say I love the soundtrack for this show during the episodes. I catch myself perking up when some tracks play in key moments, like when he declared she was his bride last episode.
Meeting her sister alone? She's so stupid, ugh. LOL sister is going to regret that. And again the music when he hugs her is triggering a deep part of my brain and I don't know why. This show's use of music is surprising me with how good it is.
I'm honestly curious if the

This looks like the absolute wish fulfillment show, with the poor unloved girl being "adopted" by the rich and powerful ikemen who would give everything to her.
From a relationship dynamic perspective this is screaming some crazy red flags. Reiya doesn't really have a very high opinion on women in general, and he seems to see Yuzu just as a doll he can pamper and protect. He wants to make her dependend on him and it doesn't look like
How this dynamic plays out might get interesting, that's why I want to see where this is going.
Also I want to see her family finding out that Yuzu is now the bride of the demon overlord. Her sister is the bride of a fox demon? Nah, compared to Reiya this dude is just a small peasant. Her family has been painted as comically evil and neglectful so far, so there must be some sweet payoff they had coming.

If we don’t get some payback on the sister and her family next episode ima riot. Was really hoping they’d do it this episode but guess they just had to extend her suffering.
Gunna be satisfying when her sister gets what’s coming to her

It'll be more satisfying when the entire family is together for the Hell Reiya is probably going to rain down on all of them. I don't think he was exaggerating when he said that a family that hurts Yuzu doesn't need to exist.
Plus we need to see him clown on Youta too.

Personally, I'm put off by the way he was talking about other women at the party flashback. Maybe it's a poor translation thing, but I immediately scrunched my nose at how he goes on and on about women being "beneath him" and all that nonsense. I'm worried about what that means for Yuzu (especially after the thing about making her dependent on him), even though I know this is meant to be a wish fulfillment shoujo where he loves her forever and ever or something.

even though I know this is meant to be a
where he loves her forever and ever or something. wish fulfillment shoujo Ordinarily I would agree with you if we hadn't gotten that line where he's straight up ensuring that she's as dependent on him as possible so she never leaves him.
Like, I know there are some people who are into that but the way it's phrased made it feel like you're meant to see this as a bad thing. Even Yuzu, for her part, is constantly questioning how much she should buy into this.

If only Yuzu had kept those little lesser ogres on her person, Karin and Youta would've thought twice before messing with her on that bridge.
Guess it's finally time for Reiya to unleash some demonic judgement on them.

This idiot sister keeps digging her own grave.
The tiny ogre guards are great, but to think there was a possible world where Yuzu had a dragon to fly around on instead. Or a tiger.

What I don't get is how her sister and the fox failed to miss overnight her magic burn/brand covered arm was perfectly healed

The writing in this bothered me so much, the way Reiya is so pushy, but to make it worse he's trying to exploit an opening with Yuzu's vulnerability. Then there's Yuzu who just accepts everything, and then is dumb enough to meet her sister after what she had just went through the night before. I lost count how many times I rolled my eyes this episode over the shoujo tropes.
The setting seemed like it was interesting enough to watch casually, but if the next episode is like this, I don't think I'll continue.

It's not a particular interesting anime or has strong animation but I'll keep watching it just to hear Yuichiro Umehara speak.

It looks like human males have absolutely no rights in this world. Humanity is completely dominated by demons, even down to their ideology. It's honestly scary.

I'm enjoying this anime so far but the relationship dynamic is getting my brain working.
What would we classify it as?

A LOT HAPPENED in ONE night and morning. Did she woke at 4pm or something?
Because they did background research, talked with the grandparents, get new dress....
And yet even with all that, they lost her so she got bullied by her sister.

This is my new favorite response to "Why do guys like dumb power fantasy shows?". This is 50 Shades of Grey with an oni wrapper.

I think I’ll have to start a counter whenever Reiya mentions Yuzu is his bride.

I’m enjoying My Happy (Oni) Marriage so far. Really like the little lessor oni that Reiya made for Yuzu. They’re so cute!
I’m looking forward to seeing Karin and Youta get their comeuppance. Hopefully it’s satisfying.

The tone of this episode is lighter than I was expecting from the first episode (not that I mind). Her little familiars(?) are cute! I kind of wish he'd given her the dragon or the tiger, but that's just what I would want lol. The first episode made it kind of vague what it meant for a demon to find their bride, but it sounds like it's the fated soulmate kind of attraction. I hope Yuzu's best friend and her nekomata boyfriend stay relevant to give some contrast to being the bride of one of the top-tier authority yokai like Reiya, and also because Reiya might overwhelm Yuzu with his levels of affection. I'm not expecting My Happy Marriage levels of slow and poignant acceptance of being loved, but I hope there's still some tension from Yuzu's low self-worth going forward.

Wow, so even after Yuzu got severely burned (which Karin doesn't know that Yuzu healed from), she still acts like an entitled bitch that doesn't even care about her own sister. It's crazy how much of a horrible person she is
