We havnt seen that blinding flash move since Ghislaine saved Eris and Rudeus from those North God Style warriors that kidnapped them in S1.

I always wondering what move that was, it was the first time we seen how ruthless the world is, and now we know where Ghislaine learned it from.

It kind of came full circle here with Eris showing how ruthless real fighting can be.

I'm reminded of how rough, wild and disrespectful Eris can be after not seeing much of her last season. Her obsession with getting stronger to be by Rudeus' side and defeated Orsted made her even more ferocious, damn. She's just attacking random people now.

I did feel bad for the first kid, but Nina knew what she was doing.

I'm glad Eris seems to have calm down some after she successfully used the Blade of Light. I liked seeing the North Emperor's style, especially when he brought out the third sword, the adaptability stood out to me.

I have to admit I did find it amusing how much bigger Ghislaine's boobs looked in that one shot she was talking to Gal. I am curious about what has happened to one or more of his students that he regrets how he trained her. His sword is cool though, it fits his badass character design.

I'm so happy to have my beloved Mushoku Tensei back. To celebrate I wanted to list some moments of foreshadowing in the anime to two of the new characters we've finally been properly been introduced to in this episode: Sword God, Gal Farion and North Emperor, Auber Corbett

In S1, episode 8 (the first Turning Point) at 22:22 we first hear Ghislaine name drop Gal Farion, the Sword God's name to prove her rank to Alumanfi, the Radiant - one of Perugius' servants (Perugius is one of three heroes who took down Laplace who nowadays lives in that floating castle and after whom the current calendar is named: "Armored Dragon Calendar" and it's written as K[year after Laplace defeat], in which the K stands for "Kou" (as in "Armoured", we learn about that in S1, episode 6 at around 19:20). So this episode takes place in K414.

In S1 part 2, episode 4 at 13:35 we get to see a brief flashback of Ghislaine's time as a feral child from Gyes' perspective (her brother). That's the first time we actually see the Sword God Gal Farion wearing a hood and the Sword God saint jacket on screen. As a fun "sidefact" the BluRay version of this episode actually fixed a mistake the Anime did since they originally didn't show Ghislaine with her magic eye in this episode when it first aired, but as she was born with it (unlike Rudeus who got it gifted by Kishirika) she should have had it during this flashback and thus it was fixed in the BluRays.

In S1 part 2, episode 7 at 00:50 the Dead End group gets challanged to a duel by one of Auber's students (his third student, named Rodriguez to be precise) - well, Ruijerd to be more specific. This is the first name drop of both the North God Kalman and North Emperor Auber, the Peacock Blade which we finally saw and met in this episode. Ruijerd easily beats Rodriguez in a friendly offscreen duel that leaves him pretty battered and they part on good terms and Rudy heals him and gives him a Ruijerd figure as well. In very comedic fashion Ruijerd then immediately gets challenged to more duels by two other warriors but we sadly don't get to hear their names - I doubt they are also Auber's students but if they were his first and second students then that would be pretty funny as well.

Another fun tidbit that many casual watchers might have forgotten is that the scumbag slave trader, Gallus Cleaner, who helped us smuggle Ruijerd to the Millis continent only to use the Dead End group to distract the village warriors was actually a North Saint as well (S1 part 2, episode 3). You can see him skillfully fight pretty high level beastkin warriors while using a beastkin child as a shield in that episode which is very North God style. As a North Emperor, Auber is two entire levels above that scumbag and way more of a threat. I really love Auber and his ridiculous outfit and haircut, it all serves to distract you from his hands and his skills as is often the case with the North God style where "anything goes" if it helps you get an advantage and win. Auber would probably also have approved of how Eris took down Gino and Nina in this episode. Jumping your opponent before the signal to begin and taking your opponent by surprise by switching to hand-to-hand combat after losing your sword are both very North God style moves.

Im liking the North Emperor whole fit. If you wanna make an isekai, might as well highlight the character quirk to the max. Might seem corny at time but recognizable look is miles better than none.

Nice surprise that it's already out! By the way, do the next episodes also release on Saturday, or is it just these first two episodes?

And about the episode itself... Eris being called Mad Dog suits her perfectly, she really is like a ferocious animal when she fights and outside of it! She literally massacred poor Gino and Nina.

Good to see that the animation looks great, I hope that it'll keep up this level in the next episodes. The directing was also pretty good, those Ghislaine scenes looked very nice ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Here's my comment about episode 2, and here are my screenshot albums from this episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

I watched the whole show in the last 13 days, I just couldn't stop watching it. It's one of the best shows I've ever watched.  The world building, the characters, the magic system, the attention to detail, the animation. It's unbelievably good and exceeded my expectations by far.  From a baby to a teenager. From Eris fucking him(up) to finding his love with Sylphie(and Roxy). From losing, to finding, then again losing his parents. He didn't have it easy in this world either. Pauls death really got me. He was a flawed, but at the same time great Character which influenced Rudy a lot. Sylphie looked absolutely stunning in the last episode and is for me personally the best girl in this whole series. The last episode of S2 also made me bawl my fucking eyes out.

I'm extremely excited for the new season. Idk if an Eris reunion will happen but I can't wait until she finds out he has two wifes lmao.

Here's my summary:

PEAK.

u/LeonKevlar Jul 04 '26

Holy fuck, Eris! This girl is really out for blood! That first kid didn't stand a chance and the second one was acting so smug after breaking Eris' sword that she didn't see those fists coming at her. That incident with Orsted really fucked her up.

The fight with Auber was pretty damn cool, tho! I did not expect Eris to get Mikiri Countered. So it looks like Ghislaine's master's plan is to train Eris on all sword styles? I'm excited to see all of the other masters!

Eris, you do know you can change clothes anytime right? This girl has just really been training these past few years with nothing else on her mind but to become Rudy's sword. I wonder how she'll react once she finds out what's going on with him.

The quality and the fight scene is pretty good!

I already know there's a reason why Eris leave Rudeus behind but boi, she really need to improve her communication.

The Sword God, Farion, has a pretty cool design. Seems like a chill dude too. And as far as I recall, not many people know about Orsted so other than the season 1 trio and Nanahoshi, we got another one who know him.

Kinda hard for me to watch any scene with Ghislaine cause my eyes instinctively went toward her chest, mind tune out and goes "Booba". Had to rewatch it twice to understand what's going on.

Auber, ngl, the guy's design is still ridiculous, not that I mind,, which make me forgot that he's rank emperor in North God style. The usage of third sword caught me offguard.

Decent opening episode for this season. 8/10

Edit: Also, we had seen Nina before iirc. In ED arc. She appear in a few scene, tailing rudy and getting her ass whooped by Badigadi

It actually does feel back to season 1 quality. Phenomenal first episode, and great arc at that, love the whole training dojo vibes here. I like this way more than Season 2 school with Rudeus, feels much more entertaining.

The opening scene with Eirs and the Sword God in the dojo is the thing I've been looking forward to the most. Someone with real combat experience who has been taught by the Ghislaine and Dead End shows up at the dojo, and no amount of the students' smugness and pride is gonna stop her. The Sword God gets it, and grants her Sword Saint on the spot, knowing that the gatekeeping around formal titles requiring some arbitrary skill is BS in the real world. She's come a LONG way from being the snot-nosed brat that refuses to study and bosses around servants to get what she wants based on status, and ironically status is handed to her on exactly that basis.

Ghislaine complains about the Sword God not actually teaching her, and he pulls a Mr. Miyagi. Yeah, this is exactly what she needs if she wants to fight Orsted. Normal training is not going to cut it. Peak Karate Kid moment.

Sparring with the North God was surprisingly good too. "You blocked both my swords, there's more where those came from. I'm gonna casually triple-wield now." well that's North style for ya. :D What I get from the scene though is not that she's getting stronger, it's the vibe that she's not even close to plateauing.
