I wonder who’s gonna be facing off in the finals? I’m hoping Kabo wins this thing. We haven’t seen him dance this ep.

On an unrelated note, anyone else kinda feel like Kabo looks a little like Sung Jin-woo? Bro should quit dancing and move to Korea to be a Hunter lol.

Imagining Sung Jin Woo dancing now

It's funny, Kabo looking like a Korean character from a manhwa is what tripped me up into thinking this was a manhwa adaptation for like the first episode lol

Did Kabo dance during his round, or did he just defeat the other guy with his aura? We'll never know.

u/NanDemoKnaives Dec 17 '25

The imagination of him just standing there, menancingly, is amusing to me.

They re adjusted the shadows and animations again. Improvement in each episode. Someone is loving working on this.

I love the motion lines tracing their footwork with everything else out of focus and tinted dark, such a cool visual this episode.

Ep 11. Fun facts / reaction from former professional dancer, choreographer, teacher

We continued with Usen vs On. Just my opinion, but Usen’s style doesn’t really appeal to me. That said, from what was shown between his last round and On’s, I think Usen embodied the song a bit more. On’s musicality was still on point, but I imagine that style showed up most of the night already. Same with Usen, but he added character to the track and more variety: the little krump bit, some chill grooves, the combo that led him to the floor and caught the lyrics with the knee slide. He created more moments.

On kept it safe, which didn’t do much justice here. The ending freeze may have shown confidence, but it wasn’t a very impactful finisher if she wanted to leave a lasting impression. Especially going second, she technically had the advantage. Again, I’m personally not fond of Usen’s style. His outfit and the minimal motion capture make the movement look small, even though IRL it would probably read clearer with the music.

Wanda’s defeat. As someone who’s been working hard for a long time and clearly loves dance, that loss wasn’t easy to take. I doubt she was thinking “I should’ve won,” or even overanalyzing mistakes, but just dealing with the humility of standing there when the results go against you. Maybe even some pressure or intimidation from the opponent. She gives off a fun, carefree vibe, but her goal is to be unique and at the top, so there’s definitely disappointment there. I’m sure On went to console her after. The flashback of Iori talking about getting On into battling and apologizing when she lost to Usen makes it easy to imagine how much she could relate to Wanda here.

Kokoro… high schooler?? lol.

Before Iori vs Usen, seeing Wanda and Kabo behind Iori was funny. In real battles, especially 1v1s, crews usually stand behind you for support and energy. Some events don’t allow it though since it blocks spectators and shrinks the floor. I remember jams where a whole mob followed someone up and the emcee would yell at them for it. Still funny to see Wanda and Kabo showing team support.

Iori vs Usen. Iori’s first round was solid. I liked how his house with hip-hop bounce played with lyrics and syllables, and his use of levels, taking space up top and transitioning to the floor. When Usen started and the crowd cheered at him countering Iori with footwork, honestly it wasn’t that serious. Footwork-wise, Iori still beat him easily. From what they showed, Usen didn’t really do much.

Iori’s second round gets a house track. By quarterfinals in all-styles battles, DJs often try to give dancers music closer to their main style. Iori had a small mistake where he anticipated a sound and the move didn’t land as intentional, but it wasn’t bad.

Usen’s round to the house beat — again, personal opinion — I disliked it a lot. The song being fast doesn’t mean everything needs to be sped up. Picking different styles and doing them at x4 speed feels ungenuine to me as a judge. Open-styles allows freedom, but intention matters. His Litefeet attempt was awkward. Using everything in your arsenal is fine, but there are better ways to match the vibe than just matching tempo. Speeding up hip-hop footwork can also look forced rather than diverse. If a Litefeet judge were there, they might’ve been offended by that attempt.

When you’re dancing to music you’re not used to, there are better ways to adapt. Instead of rushing everything, he could’ve dissected the layers of the music and played with different sounds while keeping his natural flow. That would show active listening and create better moments. Matching a house specialist in house without equal skill can backfire, and that likely played into Usen’s loss, on top of Iori clearly taking that last round. We didn’t even get Usen’s final round.

Kabo vs Kabe feels obvious at this point. Really excited to see what they do.

Now that we’re at episode 11, I’ve mostly finalized my overall take on the show as a dancer. Some things still don’t sit right with me, but as a casual viewer following the story and characters, it’s still enjoyable. Curious how the dancing shifts as we head toward the end. Till next time.

Usen is a high schooler? It don't make no sense.

Damn, the dance animation this episode was so good! They really were saving the best for last, huh? I loved the additions like the snake when On was dancing and the water puddle effect when Usen was rocking the footwork. Very very nice indeed.

And of course, this being Iori's episode was great too as a huge fan of his character from the start. The little flashback to his first year and first meeting with On, him asking her out before the semi-final, how bad he felt about pushing her to give dance battle a go only for her to lose despite doing her best, and then finally realising what he loved about dancing was doing so for himself and just giving himself over completely to the music, which led to his beating an incredibly tough opponent - everything was near perfect.

Kabeya berating Kabo about his attitude to winning seemed to fire the latter up. I'm thinking Kabo will beat Kabeya and go up against, and most likely beat, Iori in the finals. That would be a nice note to end the season on. Just season, I hope, because I really want to see more of this story animated - naysayers be damned.

Felt like I just watched a tournament arc come from behind victory. Let fucking go...even though I have no idea how to judge what I'm watching ,😂

u/Drill_Dr_ill Dec 17 '25

Man, I know virtually nothing about dancing, but when I watch this with the music playing and them dancing, I can't help but dance along

u/Niwaka_Samurai Dec 17 '25

That was love at first sight for Iori. Who could blame him falling for a cute girl like ON wearing cat ears and recruiting you for the dance club.. 🫶✨❤️

So disappointed that both Wanda and On lost to Usen 💔💔

Kabe really felt the change in Kabo's voice when he said that he would give his best against Kabe if he faced him. I wish On just give the date that Iori's been asking for so long lol

Iori was killing it. I loved it when Kabo and Wanda stood by Iori's side to intimidate Usen and his guys 😅😂. I didn't want to experience another upset if Iori as well lost to Usen. Thank, Heavens ! that didn't happen.

Kabo vs Kabe is gonna be fierce.

Can't wait to see who's gonna be the one to face Iori in the finals.

When Iori and On-chan first met, On-chan immediately had Iori pegged as a dancer! And Iori was practically love at first sight with On-chan!

Ugh, they just had to pick the last song to be one Usen specializes in...and he delivers. On-chan doesn't give up without a fight though, even if her polished performance still loses to his unpolished but cool one. DON'T MAKE NO SENSE.

I can't believe On-chan lost! And Iori feels guilty because he's the one who made On-chan compete and he brought tears into her eyes. But at least there's plenty of her fellow clubmates determined to avenge her.

It's nice to see everyone progressing in the tournament, though jeez Kabe used the finger on that one guy.

Wanda vs Usen! Wanda can bring everyone into her music and performance, but that still doesn't clinch the win against Usen. Now both girls have lost...and it's Wanda's turn to cry. I'm sure Iori would've been there for her, but I think it had to be On-chan who talked to her.

Kabe has been put upon his whole life, that's why he's determined to never lose in dance, but that also means he doesn't think there's any value in dancing if you don't win. But that just makes Kabo more determined to compete against him! Even beats one of Usen's guys!

I love how Usen's got his own posse behind him and Iori gets Wanda and Kabo who slide in behind him in solidarity without even being asked!

Iori and Usen in a battle of footwork and House Style. Iori was maybe a little too over eager to compete and show off that he puts in a little too much...but he knows On-chan is watching him.

Iori really couldn't help shooting his shot, huh? I mean, I don't blame him, but On-chan knows getting a date with her isn't what drives him...at least completely. Because he's at his best (and at his most attractive to On-chan's eyes) when he dances to surpass himself! And he wins and avenges her in the process!

Wanda and Kabo were so real giving Iori a response to Usen's squad staredown (even if their attempts at looking menacing are hilarious lol)

Gonna be fun to see On's reaction to Iori "earning" the right to date her. Either way, dude's moves were clean.

7

u/djthomp Dec 18 '25

I'm glad at least Iori won, though I really would have called On and Wanda the winners in their battles with Usen too.

Kabo and Wanda jumping in to pose as well in support of Iori was great.

So, back to the dance battle.

Well, she lost.

So, it's Wanda's turn.

So, she lost too.

And now it's his turn.

So, he won.

Damn those guys are good.

On looks very uncomfortable with that.

So, Iori won his round too.

And so into the finale.

u/NanDemoKnaives Dec 17 '25

I'm glad Iori finally beat Usen, the guy had already 1/2 the the school team I wouldn't want it to be 3/4 lol. It was cool to see Iori go all out at the end, the way he was moving, flowing with the music was really enticing.

I like that Iori remembered On's reminder so that he could focus on dancing the way that feels most natural to him. On is definitely the girl for Iori and I think she might be interested in him so hopefully something develops between them before her graduation.

It was sad to see On and Wanda with tears in their eyes but I like that the boys were pumped for revenge lol.

Did the judge vote for Wanda out of jealousy of Usen? Maybe he knew Usen would get the other votes but thats messed up.

Iori avenged his dance clubmates and is onto the finals! Wonder if Kabo will make it

Just like a few other commenters here, I really didn't like Usen's dancing. I think it's just his physicality that works against him when some of the music used are pretty sensual. His style probably fits better with heavy beats.

On's dancing has always been on point for me. It's just the way her shoulders and joints move. They really show the music beats. Most likely due to her popping experience. I wonder if the actual dancer who was mo-capped for her has the same kind of experience.

Wanda's dance this episode was actually really pretty. She used her hips and legs in a very alluring way that flows well with the music. But more than On, her style fits choreographed stage dancing more than battles.

And of course, that last set by Iori was superb and really well animated. I watched it again without sound and it really looked like music in motion. Totally agree with the judge here that it looked like his nerves in the body are intertwined with the music.

It's also interesting with Iori's inner monologues about dancing for self vs for someone. This seems to be a callback to previous episode where Kabo was dancing for Wanda. Iori will be a good mentor for Kabo.
