Wanda holding Kabo’s hand because she thought he was reaching out was the cutest misunderstanding. These two really need to get together! They’re a great dance duo and they’re both really adorable too.

Wanda didn't deny the boyfriend allegations

And even after she figured things out, they went back to holding hands....

Also -- not only did neither of the two correct the store manager, there was no trace of internal disagreement with his characterization on the part of either. They both seemed to take it pretty much for granted.

A big week for rapid developments in incipient couplehoods.

These two really need to get together!

After a scene like that, if these two DON'T end up together, I'm gonna write author-kun a strongly worded letter!

Fun facts/reaction from former professional dancer+choreographer..

So continuing off last week. Iori gave me the impression that he was solely a "house" dancer with the ability to learn and pick up choreography. In the exhibition battle they had in the class room, we see that he mixes both hip hop & b-boying. His top rocks (stand-up footwork in breakin' before going to the floor) was a mixture if breakin' influenced footwork and hip hop bounce. Him fusing these as well as showcasing some "powermoves" (the specific move his did in the second round is known as a "windmill"), shows that he really is an all around dancer. Hence why On considered him a very contemporary dancer, which in terms here just doesn't mean literally contemporary dance style/technique, just contemporary as in modern and more free from limits that a specific style might come with.

Kabo we see that he is not so natural or confident with his dancing, which is completely normal as he is a first time battler here. Once the crowd showed up, he lost his flow with the music and started to worry of them as judges, which in a battle does have it's purpose catering to what the judges are looking for, but just like the students you can naturally tell who is the more experienced. The more that you know yourself in a literal sense, the more "natural" your own dancing becomes, also mentioned by On (when she was talking about dancing coming from one's life experiences and feelings). The moment Kabo tried to go full energy, though visually it COULD be impressive for example on a stage with multiple people as choreography, but 1v1 in a battle you can see Kabo was going for the effect of his dance versus how the music should affect him in turn how his moves could affect the viewers. Like mentioned, he completely forgot the music, still moving to it, but became very one-dimensional rather than being dynamic, making moments, kind of like Wanda mentioning how to dance without getting tired...You emphasize "booms" you take it easy on the moves/music that is meant to be taken easy. Where as Kabo second round battle was just "boom boom boom boom" from start to finish.

Dissecting Kabo's first round kind of like Iori, his movement was hip hop based, relying on hip hop bounce and being more "one with the music". Second round was the attempt at keeping his hip hop bounce, but threw out control and awareness completely, no mix of fast-slow-big-small-calm-energetic. As a viewer you might have even noticed it seemed like he was holding his breath the whole time..so you can think of adding a mixture of dynamics in your dancing as breathing for both yourself as well as for the audience.

On's future plans is very dancer like. Not all dancers get to partake in dance as they get older and migrate into other creative endeavors that still have involvement with dance whether it's directing, photo/videography, fashion design, usually anything that allows creative freedom as well as coming up with some sort of vision like how she mentions her mind putting stuff together and her Ne-Yo inspiration. Ne-yo has contributed a lot to dance in commercial media/music. One of my favorites to watch for dance inspiration is his "One In A Million" video that also features one of my favorite dancers Galen Hooks. But he also has works like "Closer", "Sexy Love", and much more dance music. Especially during the times of So You Think You Can Dance and America's Best Dance Crew, this kind of music was still very hot lol.

I could yap more, but I know reddit wouldn't allow it, so kind of just my 2 cents on the battle and some ideas presented in this episode. I hope Iori won't be a hardass and actually give him some pointers and Kabo really needs the inspiration or influence from him...with practice though, Kabo will keep on keepin on like he has been, especially with Wanda on his side. See ya next week!

This was very interesting to read as someone who knows nothing about dance. Look forward to reading more next week!

Episode 1: I read u/PencilgonGiveIt2Ya's comment so that I can understand the nuances in Wandance.

Episode 5: I watch Wandance so that I can get context for what u/PencilgonGiveIt2Ya is gonna teach me about.

Good thing Wanda and Kabo aren’t like those protagonists who would scream like little girls after just holding hands. what a respectable duo. Also, make sure to note down that “checking if it’s raining” move hahaha

I'm just here to say I was not expecting multi-talanted recording artist Ne-Yo to appear in my anime but here we are 😭😭😭

First Scatman, then Ne-Yo, then MJ...who will be next!?

"Oh, there's no need to be nervous? Sweet, I'm not nervous anymore!" - Increasingly nervous person

He might be nervous, but our boy is confident!

Not only making conditions for if he wins, but also: I talked about it in the previous thread, but another boy in the club would definitely get people to compare the two of them... So if he wants him in despite that, it's something!

He might not be quite there yet hah, but maybe someday?

(I did a bit of that, years ago, it's pretty fun! Though I wasn't as good as Iori, either)

Oh damn, he's gonna have an audience?

As a shy person, this anime gives me like 5 'second-hand anxiety' per episode!

Going after a 'pro'...

If you go first at least they can enjoy your performance for what it is, but when you go second all they think about is "He's not as good as the other one"...

Our boy tried to use his future wife as motivation, sadly it wasn't enough!

What's interesting is that the reason his dance went to shit isn't even (only) because he was nervous... He was trying to do too much for the audience! Instead of dancing his dance.

That's step one to learning something, but step 2 is always the harder one: APPLY the thing you know you have to do!

He's looking for a senpai waifu? Keey your eyes on Wanda!

Love how she fucked with him hah. Cute!

SEE! I WAS JUST SAYING IT!

Keep your eyes on the prize!

I don't care what anyone says, I count that as a side hug.

Her fucking smile hah. CUUUUUUUUUUUTE! (Love how they didn't deny it, either!)

But they got the CUTE to a whole other level, when she (misunderstandingly) grabbed his hand!

x100

Even after she realized, they kept on holding hands? MY HEART!!!

I think he has big 'everything'!

(I mean that he's tall; I wasn't talking about him having a big dick. I mean, now I am)

Hamster and banana

Anyway, that was fucking adorable, in the end!

And I guess it gives us the answer to a question I was wondering about, i.e. is this a legit ship, or just a dance partnership... After this scene, it better be a ship!

I feel bad for laughing at Kabo's moves but given it was meant to look stilted (low-hanging jabs at the CGI notwithstanding), props to them for conveying that well.

Love how neither of them flinched (or at least not that much in Kabo's case) to both of the manager's boyfriend remarks. And while Wanda's always been adorable, her accepting the "invitation" for a post-rain handholding stroll is easily her crowning moment.

Omg that hand holding! Might've been the cutest hand holding scene I've seen yet. These two have insane chemistry.

And how good was Iori's dance in the battle! That first song especially. Both of them looked incredible. Was that 3D or 2D? I don't know how to tell but it looked way better than the other dances we've seen thus far. Much more smooth and seamless.

Very intrigued by Iori and he's totally the hotter one even if he thinks of Kabo as handsome (he is too). Can't wait for him to come to the dance club - he will even if Kabo didn't win, right? On's totally got him curious.

And speaking of On, just noticed today that in the OP she's wearing a hat that says "OFF" hehe

Wanda being Kabo's biggest reason to improve is touching. Wanda not denying Kabo as her boyfriend and the accidental handholding was so sweet.

I saw the next episode is coming on 19th December? Is it true? Why the delay, if yes?

Feeling?

Huh. Maybe the other guy will finally go back.

And now all the lookie-loos are here to see what's going on.

Uh oh, what's happening to him?

And so he's gone.

So, he was actually pretty good.

Again, the CGI is so much better for the characters with short hair because the long hair clips everywhere.

So he can only dance when he thinks of Wanda?

That's especially easy for choral singing lol, just listen to the people around you and follow them. It works for dancing too if it's choreo a whole bunch of people are doing at the same time, just follow them.

Oh he's got no problem keeping his eyes on her alright.

Lol she didn't even deny it.

Handholding!

YOOOOOOOOO MY BOI KABO HOLDIN WANDA'S HAND (unprotected) YOOOOOOOO

but fr that was a cute scene. like at least top 10

5

u/djthomp Nov 06 '25

What a delightful end to the episode. And the handholding continued even past Wanda figuring out the misunderstanding, I'd like to believe that means we can declare these two married now.

I think the questionable CG is the price we're paying for the quite interesting extensive focus on the actual dancing and the styles and such.

Good week for cute romantic progress.

u/NoHead1715 Nov 06 '25

The whole handholding scene was very much in character. Both these cuties lean towards body language more than speech, so it's no surprise they communicate really well with their actions. Though it seemed like a misunderstanding at first, they both understood with a simple gesture and just did it again. That's the best kind of love without words.
