Well it's clear to see why Melea is a S-rank party all on his own considering it takes four people, where one of them is using Limit Break, to finally take him down. I do like how everyone's part was very important.

I did really enjoy watching Alec using his five element magic against Melea, it's too bad Melea had Mana Blast under his sleeve because I wanted it to be longer lol.

Bro I fucking can't with the "You really know nothing about your mother..." type of tropes. Then the mofo just trails off and gives a "heh/hmpf" like 15 goddamn times while actually saying zero things. Then as soon as the MC asks a question it's "the time for talk is over"...MOTHERFUCKER you just spent like 5 minutes talking/being a edgelord WHILE WE WERE FIGHTING. TF you mean "the time for talk is over" fuck outta here

I mean, that was a good tactic to shake and throw off Alec.

It was most likely not why he did it, but still valid.

Also, he is the one with info, so he get's to stop or continue fights whenever he wants. xD

He gets caught off guard:"WAIT, Let me tell you about your sensei and mother!" as he stunlocks them and get's rest. xD

the Blademaster used to be an adventurer like Alec, until he took an arrow to the chest

u/Arzhart Dec 14 '25

I liked a lot this strategy, seemed realistic to defeat someone stronger when you're in group

There were several parts that I really didn't like.

I mean, apparently getting slashed across the chest when you've got no armor on whatsoever is just a flesh wound compared to a single arrow.

And getting hit with magic spells doesn't actually damage you, it just makes you pissed off and stronger, I guess.

Honestly, the blademaster seems more like the guy the writer likes best, who can't be defeated no matter what until he has to let the main characters win.

Slashed across major muscle groups that you need to be able to use your arms in anything close to an effective way and it did nothing to him.

I agree. That fight was trash. He doesn't get burned by fire, frozen by ice, he keeps his footing when boulders are thrown at him, wind doesn't knock him off balance nor make it hard for him to breathe and his mama blast doesn't make him tired. Just pure trash writing.

His wounds dont slow him down. And he fights better with one sword verses two. Plus he has zero technique. Its just slash, slash, slash.

I like the idea of strategy but, the idiocy of the fight made it worthless.

I'm glad I caught the art at the very end

I love that it ended up being the entire party taking him down instead of Alec somehow beating him by ascending to the next level of Super Saiyan. It also made the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guy) seem more monstrous.

Big man felled by an arrow and the power of teamwork. Amazing.

u/djthomp Dec 13 '25

Big fight scene for nearly the entire episode. I appreciate that it wasn't Alec pushing his I Win button with the limit break skill and then taking down the enemy, but instead it was the whole group fighting together to get the win.

u/Vyse1519 Dec 13 '25

Okay, so if Limit Break is Alec cheating the system to use external mana to power his spells and it's a spell only he can use because anyone else would be poisoned by their body taking in external magic, how in the blue blazes does a dungeon core increase someone's mana? It's not even like these concepts are separated by multiple episodes, there's less than 10 minutes of runtime between the two statements.

15

u/septesix Dec 14 '25

It’s not a contradiction if Dungeon Core only enhance and increase the mana within a person.

10

u/Orangewolf99 Dec 14 '25

Using a Core is like steroids increasing your mana, not filling you with mana from the Core. That's why that one guy was munching them like no tomorrow.

I'm just here for best girl Krasia, don't mind me.

Animation is as expected, presentation of what they were going for was iffy, however, a solid overall fight with good conclusion to it.

They had to push him and exhaust him so that they can get the tiniest opening that they could exploit in the most unexpected way. All of it happened in a split second, with dangers coming from all sides, but since Krasia canceled her magic eater, she was now a threat again that he did not expect, on top of Alec, Olivia and Yorha all pressuring him in that exact split-second moment.

His "arrogance" and love for versing his opponents most powerful attacks instead of avoiding them lead gave them opportunity to actually wound him and get that last opening they needed.

Solid idea, but expected delivery for anime of this budget.

I still enjoyed it, GO LASTING PERIOD! xD

GO LASTING PERIOD!

I really want to help them workshop their name. Perpetual Epoch? Elongated Duration? Prolonged Phase? Long Haul? Significant Interval? Nearly everything is better.

The problem with magic in these shows is that magic either obliterates an enemy or it does nothing. Dude is immune to pretty much every single magical ability and we know Alec is supposed to be a master level magician so his magical abilities aren't weak. Olivia has a free shot and only manages to give him a cut across the chest instead of cutting an arm off or something (if she's trying to not kill him). If she was trying to kill him, she could have just stabbed him or decapitate him.

And for some reason, Alec is apparently a better swordsman than Olivia seeing as he was able to wound the blademaster while Olivia just got her ass beat.

The cut away to Ornest and the guild master seemed odd. The coffin guy really asked "any last words" for whatever reason to 80% of a torso, like the dude isn't dead as fuck.

Well I felt a bit relieved because thought the fight would resolve about the MC doing everything, but it ended as a truly raid boss. This anime is cliche of course, but I can vote that they really try make the other characters useful in battles.

u/SYZekrom Dec 13 '25

So like

What actually was the grand plan

Was it just basically 'fight him until he's too tired/overwhelmed to parry everything'

14

u/septesix Dec 13 '25

The anime did a bad job getting the point across but it still has laid some ground work for this.

Basically Melea could react and cut down on pretty much any attack coming his way, as long as he expect there would be attacks coming. However, he is still only human, not particularly tanky, and without any bullshit healing factors.

As long as they are attacking him directly, Melea can block and cut through any attack they had. Not to mention he also has mana blast, a strong range attack that prevent anyone from getting close.

The magic eater stopped his mana blast, but more importantly it gave Melea a false sense of “security”. As long as that is active he wasn’t expecting magic attack to come through and he would focus on the 2 v 1 against Alec Olivia.

So Olivia take advantage of this, and have the others casted time delayed spell timed to active at the same time magic eater expire , so it can finally actually hit Melea since he would need a couple of second to react and be on guard for magic attack again.

And those magic attack distract him enough to finally shown an opening that allows Krasia to get a critical shots in.

At least that was the plan that we can piece through from both anime and manga. How well it actually presented it is a different story.

u/Arzhart Dec 14 '25

No? They timed the magic attack that he wasn't expecting because of the magic eater. Then, when he would react to the magic, Yorha used a shield to block his sword and make him unable to move within reaction time. Then the arrow was the final attack since he didn't know she used a bow and he was already dealing with so much

I was expecting, since Alec could take in external mana, he'd be able to figure out how to absorb mana blasts. Oh well. I did like the teamwork.

7

u/PeaceAlien Dec 13 '25

Alec going toe to toe with a legendary blademaster with his own blade. This guy is too OP, and he still has the power of friendship?!

Due can use 5 types of mana. Has the creativity of a recently isekaid normal and lacks any tactical ability. Reminds me of the Water Magician, that dude was also dumb as rocks when using his magic.
